How About Another 5-12 Upset...??? NDSU Wins For Fargo...

((HT: NCAA March Madness/Snappy TV))

An absolutely electric shooting performance in the first three-quarters of the game kept Summit League champ North Dakota State at bay against Oklahoma. But the Sooners came back and took the lead before NDSU scored on a three late in regulation from Lawrence Alexander...

That meant only one thing involving the best shooting team in the country...

The third overtime game on the opening day of the tournament...

Freshman Carlin Dupree was the key in overtime for NDSU and it was good enough for the team's first win ever in the tournament, 80-75. NDSU shot almost 53-percent from the field for the game. Oklahoma shot 35-percent including 12-for-30 from three point range.

Here's the ending...

Which allowed for celebrating in the Bison locker room...

12 Beats 5: Harvard Downs Cincinnati

Geez, tough day for college basketball fans in the state of Ohio. Or at least part of it.

First overrated Ohio State loses to Dayton (yes, we know they're in Ohio too).

Then sloppy Cincinnati, seeded #5, loses to a scrappy and talented #12 Harvard team in the East region game in Spokane 61-57. (How's a game in Spokane an East game?)

Star guard Sean Kilpatrick vainly tried to keep the Bearcats in the game...and in the NCAA tournament, but his efforts were not nearly enough.

In the meantime, Tommy Amaker's bunch just continue to enhance their reputation as the best, most underrated smart school basketball team in America. They move on to the round of 32 to play the winner of the Michigan State vs. Delaware game later on Thursday.

If Amaker wasn't on Boston College's radar before the game, he really is now...
Here's the end of the game...

We Told You Last Week: Multiple Reports Bzdelik out at Wake Forest

So....

If any of you are faithful readers of OSG Sports, you'll remember the report we had last week that Wake Forest basketball coach Jeff Bzdelik would not be back with the team.

We don't always like to brag, but we reported this first on March 13th.

Read that story RIGHT HERE

Today (Thursday) at 5 p.m, it will become official when the school holds a press conference.

Bzdelik was not a popular choice among the Demon Deacon faithful when he replaced Dino Gaudio in 2010. He had little success at Colorado before taking the job. Wake hasn't gotten past the 6 conference wins threshold since Bzdelik's arrival.

The list of prospective replacements is long and it will be interesting to see who the Deac's target. Because they play in the ACC, the list will no doubt contain some big names, but don't expect many of those names to be serious. Wake isn't the job it thinks it is as the ACC no longer is the conference it believes itself to be either.

Your First Bracket Buster: Dayton

((HT: NCAA/CBS))

Dayton, in all probability, knocked a lot of you from winning your billion dollars from Warren Buffett...

But it won't stop all the spam messages...

Here's how Aaron Craft didn't either get fouled or make the final lay-up of his college career...

Now, why as it that Thad Motta wasn't interested in playing Dayton, again...???

Reds Chapman Needs Plate Inserted After Comebacker

((HT: ESPN))

Let's face it...

When you're a pitcher, you know going in that you're taking life into your own hands...

And the faster you throw, the faster it comes back through the originator...

Last night, Reds closer Aroldis Chapman was pitching against the Royals and Salvador Perez met the 99-miles per hour fast ball head on. It went back the way it came and scared the daylights out of a lot of people...

Here's the edited version of the comebacker last night...

He is undergoing surgery to repair a broken bone above his left eye and was, luckily, only diagnosed with a concussion. Team doctor Timothy Kremchek called Chapman "a very lucky guy."

Kremchek said a metal plate will be inserted in the bone and will remain there permanently. Chapman's left eye also has no permanent damage.

Thank (insert divine being here)
