Kurt Busch Is In A Courtroom... Still...

((HT: NBC Sports/NASCAR America))

The HQ understands the strategy of Busch attorney Rusty Hardin in the case currently ongoing in a Dover, Delaware court. Busch's ( the HQ is safe to say former) girlfriend, Patricia Driscoll, is attempting to get a protection order extended over the driver.

She alleges that she was physically abused/assaulted in the Busch hauler in a race weekend at Dover International Raceway back in the fall.

Busch, naturally, denies this and maintaints that he only wanted her to leave and that the allegations are a fabrication ( his word).

Driscoll also is claiming Busch is depressed and an alcoholic.

But when Rusty Hardin is involved the HQ understands that the public spectacle/embarassment/show is where he, as a lawyer, makes his money. His job is to make sure the accused is exposed in the wrong and that the larger the spectacle/embarassment/show, the better his client appears.

The case continues as Jack Furlong discusses with Carolyn Manno

Morning Wrap: Kurt Busch Investigated for Domestic Violence Accusation

((ht: foxsports.com))

We had a bit of trepidation about wading into this story yesterday, but it is at least worth a mention because police really are involved.

NASCAR driver Kurt Busch is being investigated by Dover Delaware police after his former girlfriend came to police and accused him of assault.

The incident is alleged to have happened after the race at Dover Speedway back in September. Busch's former girlfriend, Patricia Driscoll, says after the race in his motorhome, a despondent Busch got angry and grabbed her head, banging it against a wall and hurting her.

The pair had broken up a week earlier.

We should add that Driscoll is the president of the Armed Forces Foundation which had ties to Busch's racing team. Those ties have since been severed.

Read a full explanation of the story from FOXSports RIGHT HERE

Police are looking into the allegations and thus far have not commented other than to say that.

As for Busch, his attorney Rusty Hardin (yes, the attorney to athletes everywhere) released a statement saying "The Dover Police department has been informed that Mr. Busch will fully cooperate with their investigation and he expects to be vindicated when the entire truth of the situation comes to light..."

Hardin added that the allegations come from a woman who refused to accept the end of a relationship among other things.

NASCAR is also monitoring the situation and has decided it would be inappropriate to comment or take action until they have more information.

Kurt Busch And Keselowski Want A Piece Of Each Other...Still...

((HT: NASCAR on FOX))

And the HQ is going to look for a race where Rowdy is in no condition to do well on a speedway and Keselowski will get his for his modifieds grind-and-go at Martinsville Sunday...

It all started around the competition caution in and around Lap 40...

Keselowski had to check out for 30 laps or so and came back onto the track looking very modified...
And looking for payback...
((HT: NASCAR.com))

But that didn't go over well on the radio...

And even led to the Blue Deuce's PDE for Busch out the window...

Busch would eventually win the race and get his grandfather clock...

And addressed it after the race here...

And here...
"He tried to flatten all four of my tires," Busch said. "That's a no fly zone. ... He will get what he gets back when I decide to give it back."

So, what race, dear reader will Busch get his revenge...???
You tell us...

Stewart Haas Adds Kurt Busch

In a great scoop and score for Stewart-Haas Racing, Tony Stewart has added Kurt Busch from Furniture Row Racing for the 2014 season...

SHR offered a little over a week ago, Furniture Row counter offered and Busch went to SHR...

He now joins Stewart, Harvick, and Danica...

But didn't the HQ think he heard SHR say that there wasn't going to be a 4th team when he let go of Ryan Newman in the first place...???

So much for that...

"It was always our intention to extend Kurt's contract," FRR general manager Joe Garone said in a statement. "We made him an offer last week to continue as the driver of the No. 78 Furniture Row Chevrolet in 2014 and beyond. Though he did not accept our offer we respect his decision and wish him future success. His driving skill and being a dedicated team player will always be appreciated. Right now, the main focus for Kurt and the team is to qualify for the Chase and contend for the 2013 Sprint Cup Series championship."

Busch is on the cusp of taking a western, one car team to the Chase... something a lot of people didn't think was going to happen...

Ever... but he has proven if he can keep his thoughts to himself, he can drive any car as well as anyone...

Busch's temper got him booted from Penske after the 2011 season which caused him to ride for FRR...
Stuff like this from Homestead got him in trouble, and it's very NSFW...

Ryan Newman An Ogre...???

((HT: NASCAR))

Brothers will always stick up for brothers...

And the Busch brothers will always make a point to stick up for one another- especially when one of them gets knocked out of contention...

It was Kyle's contention that Kurt and the #78 car had a good enough to win. But when you get bumped out around the corner at Loudon and don't get to win...

This happens after the race...

Newman will be looking for work after this season as Kevin Harvick comes over from Richard Childress and will be bringing his sponsors with him...

But... an ogre...???
Silly season should be interesting...

Kurt And Cole Finish Fourth At Daytona

As a follow-up to our story from earlier this week, Kurt Busch got the okay from Nationwide car owner James Finch and Rick Hendrick to revisit one of the best paint schemes in NASCAR history- the City Chevrolet car driven by Cole Trickle in the "Days of Thunder"- for the Nationwide race last night...

Here's some of the highlights...
((HT: NASCAR.com))

We're glad to see that everyone had a sense of humor about bringing attention to a serious cause...

Now if only Busch could have put Russ Wheeler in the wall for the win...

Kurt Busch Channels Cole Trickle And It Is Awesome...

Gotta love owners with a sense of humor...

Jerry Bonkowski at Motor Sports Talk has the story of the weekend from Daytona...

Remember Cole Trickle...???
((HT: Movieclips.com))

Kurt Busch certainly does...
This weekend, the City Chevrolet will be working for the Hendrick teams pit...

And Busch, Hendrick, and crew chief Nick Harrison recited a scene or two for the AFFDC...

Busch is raising awareness for the Armed Forces Foundation "Help Save Our Troops" campaign this weekend.

And the HQ hopes he wins...

Here's the car thanks to @kurtbusch

Ryan Newman And The Big Red Truck (UPDATE)

((HT: NASCAR))

Kurt Busch ended up on top of Ryan Newman during the second Big One with 6 laps to go at Talladega Sunday...
The driver of the 39 car was less than pleased after he exited the Infield Care Center...

Newman finished 32nd as a result of the wreck...

The larger question will be whether or not NASCAR will fine Newman for his comments. Denny Hamlin lost $25,000 for comments about racing earlier this year, but Brad Keselowski was not fined for comments about what he perceived as the governing body's persnickety-ness when it comes to their new Generation 6 car...

WEDNESDAY UPDATE: Newman was also fined $25,000 for the above outburst...

The Big One Only Waits 42 Laps At Talladega (UPDATED: With Another Big One With 6 To Go And David Ragan Wins)

Kyle Busch gets a push from Marcus Ambrose... He goes into the back of Kasey Kahne to send him around and all hell breaks loose at Talladega... Busch admitted on his in-car communications that it was his fault...

Your victims- Kyle, Kahne, Greg Biffle, Jamie McMurray, Brian Vickers, Casey Mears, Ambrose, Tony Stewart, Jeff Gordon, Kevin Harvick, David Stremme, Martin Truex, Junior, and Jeff Burton all either got damage of some sort or are out for the day... 14 of 43...

Not a bad percentage for the haunted speedway to take another chunk out of the sport... a full one-third of the field...

Here's a little bit of it from nascarcrashesmore...

More when we know more...

UPDATE: With 6 laps to go, it all happened again...

It looked like Ricky Stenhouse squeezed JJ Yeley as the cars went four wide and it caused another chain reaction involving Kurt Busch (who was looking to win the race). Ryan Newman ended up with the 78 on top of him. Bowyer, both Labontes, David Stremme, Danica Patrick, Jamie McMurray, and Jeff Gordon were all involved.

Stenhouse called out Yeley in his own in-car communication...
Here's the other big one...

NASCAR, much like Saturday's Nationwide race, only allowed one pass for a green-white-checkered finish. Seven hours after the official start, David Ragan got a big push from his teammate David Gilliand and beat out Johnson, Edwards, and Kenseth.
((HT: NASCAR))

Huzzahs to everyone at Front Row Motorsports for their finish...

Day 1 At Daytona= Wreck One

((HT: NASCAR on Speed))

What the HQ used to call the Clash is now something called the Unlimited...

We don't know if the ground rules are the same or not, but they're practicing at Daytona for the 500 mile race next Sunday.
Which, of course, means that big drivers may end up damaging their new paint schemes...

Matt Kenseth would be the guilty one there...

Here's the crash that took out Montoya, Martin, Kurt Busch, and Edwards...

"That was 100 percent driver error, my driver error," Kenseth said when asked about it afterwards. "I had no idea anybody was there and he had a run at the same time and I came down in front of him and he couldn't get slowed up from staying out of me. It was a hundred percent my fault."

So, the Car of Tomorrow is yesterday and we're now with Gen 6...

The Kurt Busch "Foot-in-Mouth" tour continues

((ht: deadspin.com))

At least this time it wasn't a crazed rant directed at Sports Reporters. And since it wasn't on Network TV, you can almost give the guy a pass.

The video here is an interview with NASCAR driver/big mouth/bully Kurt Busch. Busch is apparently at the "Prelude to a Dream" dirt track charity race. And during a break in the action, where he seemingly had another in his endless parade of "Bad Days", Busch agrees to an interview with reporter Dick Bergeron.

At least he didn't threaten to kick Bergeron's ass, rather he made a somewhat funny reference/analogy to a question about the track and his rough night on it.

Revel in the wittiness as Busch channels his inner child instead of his inner dickhead:

Breaking: Kurt Busch suspended for verbal attack

Well, Kurt Busch continues his fade to irrelevance largely because of his inability to control or filter the words coming out of his mouth.

Busch, the elder will be sidelined for a week and have his probation extended from the end of July to the end of the year after his verbal barrage Saturday aimed at a Sporting News reporter who dared question him about his on track incident with driver Justin Allgaier.

Oh...he's out $50k as well.

It all stemmed from the reporter asking him if his probation affected the way he drove after his incident with Allgaier.

Ironic...ain't it?

Read more about Saturday's incident RIGHT HERE

And your video:

Sorry there Kurt 'ol boy. You may have all the talent in the world, but if you can't play with others, you're goose...well, it's done extra crispy.

This predilection towards cursing out Sports Writers has already cost Busch his ride with the Roger Penske team and the more he seems to talk, the further down he spirals.

And as much as Saturday's outburst was out of line, it was tame compared to the original incident that got him in trouble.

Oh...here is some video of Busch's crew getting angry with Ryan Newman's. Somebody these NASCAR guys to anger management...stat!

"Kurt Busch continues to be his own worst enemy," FOSG and NASCAR.com anchor Beau Estes said to OSG this afternoon when asked about this non-shocking development. "Worse still, it is beginning to look like he is attacking media members to, in some way, compensate for his frustrations and lack of success on the track. The downward spiral has commenced and it seems only he can stop it."

Kurt Busch And Justin Allgaier Have A Discussion (And Then Busch Discusses Driving With A Reporter)

((HT: NASCARImages/ESPN))

Kurt Busch is on probation with NASCAR, so when he and Allgaier got into it on the 200 laps of the Saturday Dover race it naturally would lead to extra-curricular discussions...

Evidence below...

Busch finished fourth and Allgaier finished fifth... and the HQ doesn't think this is close to being over...

UPDATE: It wasn't...

Cameras from SPEED were rolling after their interview when Busch went after Sporting News scribe Bob Pockrass for asking a question about his approach since he's on probation...

It wasn't pretty...

Kurt Busch Channels Ricky Bobby

((HT: NASCAR on FOX/youtube))

Because, after all, it's all about me...

Admittedly, when TBH informed the HQ about the idea that Kurt Busch and Phoenix Racing had for the Talladega race, we were looking forward to seeing Laughing Clown Malt Liquor on the hood of the 51 car since Wonder said "No."

Party poopers...

But they were having a good day until the eventual winner did the following...

Kurt finished 20th...
Good for the 51 car- sounds like they made lemonade...

DEVELOPING: Kurt Busch Out At Penske

Citing the idea of "needing a fresh start," Kurt Busch is leaving Penske Racing and is now looking for another ride- and possibly sponsors to go along with him...

Busch thanked Roger Penske "for the opportunity that he has given me."

"I am grateful to Penske Racing for six very productive years," Busch said. "Together we won a lot of races -- 16 in all. Leaving a great organization and a lucrative contract is not easy, but it's an important step for me and allows me to take a deep breath to work on things that can make me a better driver and a better person."

Here's what broke it all down finally...

Early returns look like David Ragan may fill the seat in the #22 car...

Kurt Busch isn't a fan of Dr. Jerry Punch

((ht: usatoday))

*UPDATED AT BOTTOM*

Okay. Then there is this.

It appears, at least on video that either Kurt Busch doesn't care for ESPN NASCAR pit reporter Dr. Jerry Punch...or he is agitated that he's having to wait for the director to call for their live interview during Sunday's broadcast of the Homestead race.

The original story from USA Today RIGHT HERE

In this video you can hear Busch asking someone to get this...#$%^! out of my face among other things.

It should be noted, Busch had just been forced out of the race with transmission issues.

It's not really safe for work, but interesting never the less and we might add, apparently, Punch walked away.

Here's the video from bakerskating88:

**UPDATE**--Per NASCAR.com. Busch's team released a statement today apologizing to Punch and others and stated that the matter is being reviewed internally.

They also announced that his crew chief Steve Addington is leaving the team effective immediately.
