You're Sneaky, Indiana State

((HT: Daniel Shedd))

They actually got the hidden ball trick to WORK!!!

Now, the cool part...

Missouri State led the game 18-17 with less than a minute left in the game when this happened.
The kick return eventually led to the game-winning field goal as Indiana State won 20-18

Ever Seen A Butt Punt? A Whole New Meaning To A Kick In The Ass From A Teammate

Just when you thought you have seen it all in college football Youngstown State brings you the "Butt Punt"

Penguin punter Joey Cejundo tried a rugby punt and it went so wrong and Jacob Wood got the point of the football right up the anal cavity.

By the way Illinois won the game 28-17.

Wichita State Keeps on Rolling, Now 32-0

((ht: espn.com))

So, how do you feel about the idea of running the table? Going undefeated heading into the NCAA Tournament.

That's what Wichita State may very well be doing after winning their first game in the Missouri Valley Conference tournament Friday night raising their record to 32-0.

The Shockers cruised past Evansville 80-58 behind 17 points apiece by Cleanthony Early and Ron Baker.

Granted, the win only moves them to the conference tourney semi-finals, but it doesn't appear anyone in the MVC is going to give Wichita State much of a challenge.

Which raises the question we asked at the beginning....

If you are the superstitious sort, do you want to be undefeated at this point? Do you believe the law of averages is going to bite you? Can you REALLY run the table?

All good questions. And surprisingly, there's still some debate as to whether the Shockers are a "#1 Seed" heading into the "Big Dance". If for some reason they lose in the conference tourney, then yes, the question is legit...but if they win, then no, you have no argument.

Anyway, enough soap box, here's your highlights from ESPN.com:

Wichita State Runs the Regular Season Table

Hey, 31-0 ain't nothing to sneeze at. And sure football may all be about the "High and Mighty" big schools, but NCAA basketball is not.

The Wichita State Shockers completed a 31-straight regular season win streak by taking down Missouri State 68-45 Saturday afternoon. Which gave them a 31-0 record on the season.

Coach Gregg Marshall's charges head to the Missouri Valley Conference next week with no losses and credit from even the naysayers of small schools for being the real deal.

Cleanthony Early dropped 19 points and Ron Baker chipped in 13 to lead the Shockers to the win. Missouri State had taken them to overtime at their gym back in January.

Surprisingly to at least us, Wichita State is still ranked only #2 in the NCAA polling behind 25-2 Florida who also has a pretty good team but plays in a "Name" conference which in reality might be worse than the MVC.

And duly noted that the Shockers were a Final Four team in 2013, most of that team returned with more experience.

Expect them to be a #1 seed in a couple of weeks when March Madness begins and it would not be a surprise to see them playing yet again in the Final Four.

Your highlights from ESPN.com: (okay, all they've posted is postgame with Marshall--so that will have to do for now)

Barry Hinson Does It Again For Postgame

((HT: KWCH-TV))

The coach of Southern Illinois is a good one if you're looking for a good tangent or long quote for filling space for entertainment purposes...

If you're looking for a quick quote, you might be in trouble...

This go-round, it was movies for his lead analogy about their effort in a win...
video platformvideo managementvideo solutionsvideo player
Brad Pitt, gasoline, avoiding a fine concerning officiating, Kirstie Alley- who talked to the Shockers during the game, WSU's Sports Information Department, and Scooby Doo...

Not a bad showing...

BREAKIING: It's Official, Butler, Xavier And Creighton Join The "New" Big East Conference. Fox Sports New TV Partner

The new Big East Conference has a TV partner and three new schools to join the Catholic 7.

Butler and Xavier have informed the muckety mucks at the Atlantic 10 Conference they are withdrawing to join the new Big East.

“I wish Xavier University and Butler University all the best in their new conference." A-10 commissioner Bernadette McGlade said Wednesday in a statement released by the conference.  "Xavier’s departure is unfortunate. Butler’s departure is a by-product of the chaotic conference realignment environment. BU’s association with the A-10 has been a fun ride this year; no regrets from the Atlantic 10 for providing a home for them during the 2012-13 season."

Creighton leaves the Missouri Valley Conference, the Blue Jays home since 1977.

Here's the announcement of Creighton's withdrawal from the MVC by University President the Rev. Timothy Lannon.

Those three join former original Big East members St. John's, Seton Hall, DePaul, Georgetown, Marquette, Providence and Villanova to form the basketball centric conference July, 1st.

Most importantly the new Big East has a media partner with Fox Sports.  Here's that announcement.

The A-10 can absorb the loss of Butler and Xavier, still many good teams in large media markets in that conference.

Creighton has been the big dog in the MVC the last few years.  The Valley will remain one of the best mid-majors in college basketball.  Wichita State is a solid program and no doubt will fill the void on the national scene left by Xavier.

BUZZER BEATER: A Brave Shot By Lemon, Jr. Gives Bradley at 66-69 Win Over Missouri State

Most buzzer beaters are personal with me but this one was.  It involved Bradley’s Walt Lemon, Jr. banking home a three pointer at the buzzer to defeat my alma mater, Missouri State 69-66.
Here’s the game winner, (Thanks KYTV, Springfield, MO)

“I was actually going to pass it because I thought they would double team me.” Lemon said.  “But they retreated and I just shot it.  I didn’t know what to think but I was just glad it went it.”
“We knew Lemon would probably get it and we wanted to give a bunch of help on him and not let him get all the way to the rim,” Missouri State head coach Paul Lusk said. “We hit a big shot. They hit a bigger one.”

Lemon finished with 20 points to lead the Braves in scoring.

OSG Buzzer Beater: Wild Finish At Illinois State, 3 Off Glass Wins It For Redbirds

Jackie Carmichael is a hero in Normal, Illinois. Carmichael's three off the glass as time expired won it for Illinois State 75-73 over Missouri Valley Conference rival Evansville Saturday.

Here's the game winner. (Thanks GoRedBirds.com)

It's the first 3-pointer in Jackie Carmichael's 77 game career as a Redbird. Carmichael was also Illinois State's leading scorer with 17 points.

“We went to the huddle and they (the coaches) asked who could throw a baseball pass,” Carmichael told the Pantagraph.com, Bloomington, IL . “I was initially supposed to throw it, but I’m no baseball or football player."

No but Carmichael did nail the shot for the winner.

“What an amazing, athletic shot,” Illinois State head coach Tim Jankovich said after the game. “You have to be an amazing athlete to even get it off in a crowded little area that far away.”
