Sergio Goes For A 27 On The Back (And A 61)

((HT: PGA Tour))

Sometimes, you have one of THOSE days...
The day like the padre had during the rainstorm in "Caddyshack"

Looks like somebody had a day similar- except for the rain and being struck by lightning thing...

Before today, Sergio Garcia's low est 9-hole score was a 29. He hit that number three times.
Today, he shot a 27 on the back-nine today at Bridgestone.

He leads the pack by 3 at 11-under.

Here's his action on the 15th- a 224-yard par-3

Justin Rose is three back at 8-under
Marc Leishman and Rory McIlroy are at 7-under

And here is Garcia on the 18th for his seventh straight birdie and a 61

Sergio's Day At Merion Includes A Menu Suggestion

((HT: Golf Channel on NBC/USGA))

Nothing like having your quotes come back and bite you on your first hole of the day... the 11th...
Eh, Sergio...

Philadelphia fans are quite biting... pardon the pun...

To add to Garcia's fun, he bogeyed two of his first three holes, and then on his fourth – the 15th – he drove three tee shots out of bounds and ended up with a ten...

As of this writing, he's second to last...

El Nino= 21st Century Fuzzy Zoeller

((HT: CNNSI))

Sergio Garcia was thinking he was funny when, in reality, he was channeling the past...
And being incredibly unfunny...

Still seething after what he thought was a breach of golf etiquette at the Players's Championship, was asked at a European Tour function if he would be inviting Woods to dinner during next month's U.S. Open.

"We'll have him 'round every night," Garcia said. "We will serve fried chicken."

It was stale material... 16 year-old stale material...

When asked about it the second time, Garcia said that "my answer was totally stupid and out of place. I feel sick about it."

Here's the original...

Tiger tweeted out this in response:

"The comment that was made wasn't silly. It was wrong, hurtful and clearly inappropriate.

"I'm confident that there is real regret that the remark was made.

"The Players ended nearly two weeks ago and it's long past time to move on and talk about golf."

Of course, Garcia feels sick about it... because he got caught...

Sergio Blows Up Down The Stretch At Players, Tiger Wins

((HT: PGA Tour))

It cost Sergio Garcia around $800,000 going from second to a tie for eighth...
Starting on 17 with two in the water...

Nothing like a 7 on a par 3...

Add to that hitting his tee shot on 18 into the water and Sergio Garcia drops six stokes in a hurry...

Tiger Woods won the tourney by staying dry and it was his first win at Sawgrass since 2001. This is the fastest season that he has ever won four tournaments, and the win was his 78th career- four behind Sam Snead...

The folks over at World of Isaac addressed the fun- and "Yakety Sax" makes it all better...

Sergio Garcia Whines about Tiger Woods Allegedly Distracting Him

We had a name for Sergio Garcia many years ago after he imploded during a round three at the Masters and proceeded to step up to the podium and blame the media for his bad round.

"Whiny Bitch"

That name reared its ugly head again during the 3rd round of The Players Championship when Garcia accused Tiger Woods of costing him a shot on the second hole by pulling a club out of his bag while Garcia was in the middle of his swing. Garcia claims that caused the crowed to gasp audibly, throwing him off.

However...according to all observers and the people watching on TV, it didn't exactly go down like that.

NBC Sports showed a replay that clearly showed Woods pulling his club while Garcia was still standing over and dwelling on his shot. And yes, there was a gasp by the crowd, but again, Garcia had not hit yet.

For his part, Woods didn't say much about it other than: 'Not real surprising he's complaining about something'.

((Video isn't out there as of this posting))

We suppose the premise of the whole thing could have shaken Garcia, but if it did, he...well, needs to man up. Short of someone yelling at him in his backswing, we don't know how such a thing could possibly have distracted him.

But that's Garcia's M.O. he tends to overreact and blame everyone else for his pratfalls and failures and this appears to be another example of it. Yes, he and Woods are tied at 10-under with a couple holes to play in the rain shortened 3rd round, but we fully expect Garcia to gag on Sunday.

It's what he does.

Ah, Go Climb A Tree... Literally...

((HT: PGATour.com))

Sergio Garcia has been known in the past to do some crazy on-the-course things to advance his score.

After shooting 73 yesterday at Bay Hill, he really needed to do some dancing to get up the leader board. But the HQ didn't think he'd ever do something like this...

Here's the whole shot... and Charlie Rymer gets the line of the day...
See if you can pick out what it is...

Garcia double-bogeyed the hole, but the HQ gives him an "A" for effort and thought...

Sergio Garcia Does Not Like Microphones Sneaking Up Behind Him...

((HT: ESPN/USGA/youtube))

Here's what happens when you hit an errant tee shot on live television...

Garcia actually finished his second round with a 71 after his opening round 73 to be a part of the logjam at 19th...

The HQ wonders what happens tomorrow if he shoots 69...???

Oh, some guy named Tiger is leading at Olympic with Jim Furyk and David Toms as the only scores under par after 36 holes...
