Your Wide Receiver Explosion Of The Week

((HT: FNF on TSN))

This qualifies as one of the nastiest hits you'll see for a while...

Last night in the Green Riders- Stampeders game, Marshay Green met Simon Charbonneau-Campeau helmet to helmet

Calgary actually had a 24-0 lead, before having to hold on 31-24

C-C was able to jog off the field under his own power, but he'll have a close eye kept on him this week to monitor the idea of a sure concussion.

Yet Another Bird Disintegrates From A Pitch

((HT: TinCaps Productions))

The HQ would really know the odds on something like this...

We remember the physics of Force = Mass (x) Acceleration and all those SAT problems about trains leaving stations and finding out what time they pass from each other if they leave opposing train stations and all that stuff...

The HQ always missed those math problems...

In single-A, Fort Wayne was taking on West Michigan when Jon Maciel of the Whitecaps did this...

Here's the pitch and the aftermath

And, no, the HQ doesn't think the bird was okay...

Arraignment Expected In Boston Bomb Hoax

((HT: MyFoxBoston))

Kayvon Edson, also known as Kevin Edson, is charged with possession of a hoax device, disturbing the peace, and disorderly conduct after Boston police say he was carrying a rice cooker filled with confetti to the Boston Marathon finish line.

He will be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court Wednesday.

Authorities say Edson told them he had a rice cooker in his backpack and they told him to leave it on the street. The area was cleared and the two backpacks that Edson had in his possession when he entered the Boylston Street area were detonated Tuesday evening over a two-hour period. The area had been cleared for the bomb squad to do their examinations and metro trains skipped the Copley Street station during the evacuation.

Here's the morning reports...

No word yet on how the Boston Police will increase their security measures- that have already been increased due to last year's explosions. Police have already asked those who will be running in the Marathon or who will be watching the Marathon not to bring backpacks into the area this year.

Busy Day For Rangers-Astros Includes A Drop And A Fire Truck

((HT: MLB.com))

It was a day that needed celebrating when the Rangers took on the Astros...

The Rangers made a point to honor the town of West, about 90 minutes south, as the town was obliterated when a grain plant exploded this spring. Lance Berkman even went as far as donating a fire truck that was purchased from the Arlington Fire Department. His name and number were placed on the side of the truck, but Berkman wanted no such recognition.

He just wanted to make sure the truck works for a town that really needs the help...
Here's the link to the ceremony...

And the story from WFAA-TV
And, during the game, one of the lighter moments when someone dropped a sure home run souvenir, and someone else wasn't too pleased...

Jack Beckman Survives Funny Car Explosion

((HT: NHRA))

Beckman is trying for his first funny car title...

The NHRA drivers are at Pomona for the finals and this happened...

Call it a "disintegration..."

Beckman is okay thankfully...and he did manage to joke about it- even as he knocked out the fifth fastest time in qualifying...

"Can anyone donate left eyebrow," he asked. "I need one now. I've never had that happen to me and I'm not signing up for that again.

"I went for the chutes, but the lever was gone with the rest of the body. I'm thinking, 'OK, the body is gone, just don't wreck car.' But there was oil on my visor, so I couldn't see where the wall was. Other than that, it was just a routine run."

THAT was routine...??? Other than all the other stuff...
AND he qualified fifth...???

Nice work...
