If you haven't heard the name Robel Phillipos, you probably need to file it away as someone you need to know about...
After six days of deliberating, Robel Phillipos, a friend of the Tsarnaev brothers, was found guilty on both counts of lying to investigators about being in Dzokhar Tsarnaev's dorm room while two other friends removed a backpack containing potential evidence after the April 15, 2013, Boston Marathon attack.
The bombs placed near the marathon finish line killed three people and injured more than 260.
Phillipos had an interesting defense- marijuana consumption.
Here's the latest on the verdict- albeit a very mixed one...
Boston News, Weather, Sports | FOX 25 | MyFoxBoston
He is facing up to 16 years in prison and a verdict will be given in late January- the same month the Tsarnaev trial is set to begin.
Phillipos will be held under house arrest until then.

Boston Marathon Bombing Trial Pushed To January
((HT: MyFoxBoston))
But a change of venue request was denied that was put forth by the defense team of suspected bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev.
Judge George O'Toole has now ruled that the trial will begin after the New Year's holiday instead of early November as was previously designated. Tsarnaev's lawyers wanted to delay the trial for a year and wanted a change of venue- saying that there's no way their client can get a fair trail in Boston.
Understandable idea...
Here's the latest on all the legal wrangling
Boston News, Weather, Sports | FOX 25 | MyFoxBoston
Tsarnaev could face the death penalty if convicted of making pressure cooker bombs with his brother that went off at the 2013 Boston Marathon- injuring 260 and killing three.

It was a cool gesture that personifies the whole Boston Marathon/Boston Strong mentality
Tatyana McFadden won the Women's Wheelchair Division race today. She was racing for Team MR8- the Martin Richard-support team that was running in his memory and foundation...
But it was what she did afterwards that was awesome...
For McFadden, who turned 25 today, this was her second Boston Marathon and second consecutive victory.
Meb Keflezighi won the men's side and Rita Jeptoo won the race for the third time- making her the seventh runner to perform that feat...

Arraignment Expected In Boston Bomb Hoax
((HT: MyFoxBoston))
Kayvon Edson, also known as Kevin Edson, is charged with possession of a hoax device, disturbing the peace, and disorderly conduct after Boston police say he was carrying a rice cooker filled with confetti to the Boston Marathon finish line.
He will be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court Wednesday.
Authorities say Edson told them he had a rice cooker in his backpack and they told him to leave it on the street. The area was cleared and the two backpacks that Edson had in his possession when he entered the Boylston Street area were detonated Tuesday evening over a two-hour period. The area had been cleared for the bomb squad to do their examinations and metro trains skipped the Copley Street station during the evacuation.
Here's the morning reports...
Boston News, Weather, Sports | FOX 25 | MyFoxBoston
No word yet on how the Boston Police will increase their security measures- that have already been increased due to last year's explosions. Police have already asked those who will be running in the Marathon or who will be watching the Marathon not to bring backpacks into the area this year.

Tsarnaev Pleads Not Guilty In Marathon Bombings
((HT: NECN))
The surviving brother involved in the Boston Marathon bombings plead not guilty seven times in a Boston courtroom...
The proceeding in the courtroom lasted seven minutes- so that averages a plea a minute...
Dzokhar Tsarnaev has been hospitalized since the capture after the April 15th bombing of the Boston Marathon. He faces 30 federal charges, including using a weapon of mass destruction to kill, which killed three and injured more than 260.
He could get the death penalty if prosecutors choose to chase the idea.
Tsarnaev's older brother, Tamerlan, died following a gun battle with police three days after the attack. Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was arrested on April 19th and is also charged in the killing of an MIT police officer and the carjacking of a motorist during his getaway attempt.
Here's the NECN coverage of the developments as they came out of the courtroom...
Martin Richard, Krystle Marie Campbell, and Lingzi Lu were killed by the two bombs. They were made out of pressure cookers, gunpowder, nails and other bits and pieces that could easily turn into shrapnel once the bombs were triggered as they were carried in ordinary backpacks.

Developing: Boston Sports on Hold While Search Continues (Update)
Without delving too deeply into the events unfolding in the Boston Metro area that we can't possibly keep up with, we'll just mention their impact on area Sports. With the entire city essentially on lockdown as authorities try to corral the remaining suspect in the Boston Marathon Bombing, the city's two pro sports franchises currently playing have put their plans for the day on hold.
The Boston Bruins have put all morning skates on hold Friday. The Bruins are scheduled to play the Pittsburgh Penguins at the TD Garden Friday night.
As of 11:15 a.m Friday, no decision has been made whether or not to play.
The Boston Red Sox also have a scheduled home game Friday night. That game is on hold, it hasn't been postponed, but we're guessing whether or not it's played will depend on how events progress in the city.
Our suggestion would be to keep an eye on the teams social media sites. That would be the best way to keep up on the availability of the games.
((UPDATED--The games will not be played, both have been cancelled. The Red Sox have not rescheduled as of yet, the Bruins game is tentatively scheduled for 12:30 p.m on Saturday--Boston College's football team cancelled their Saturday Spring Game as well))
