Jordan Zimmerman went the distance for the first no-hitter in Nationals history. The opposing pitcher in the 1-0 win was Henderson Alvarez for the Marlins. If that name is familiar to you, it's because he had a no-hitter on the last day of the 2013 regular season.

The Nats won their 96th game of the season 30 games over .500 as they get ready for the post-season...

Makes you wonder who will get the no-hitter going against Zimmerman on the last day of the 2015 season...

Lincecum No-No's Padres Again...

It's the third no-hitter of the season and Tim Lincecum becomes the second Giant to no-hit a team more than once- matching Christy Mathewson's feat against did it to the Chicago Cubs four years apart (in 1901 and 1905).

The first no-hitter was a 148-pitch run (148 PITCHES???!!!) almost a year ago.
Today's had 35 less pitches and was in San Francisco

DEVELOPING: Beckett Throws No-No Against Phillies, First of 2014

Let's go to the last out first, since the pitch before, Chase Utley started walking to first on a three-ball count...


Beckett throws the 21st no-hitter in the history of the Dodgers franchise and the first since Hideo Nomo in 1996.

Michael Radano over at mlb.com has some stats on Beckett and his lack of success going into this game:

Beckett, who has one career one-hitter, entered the game 4-12 in his last 20 road starts -- including a 1-1 record in three road starts this year with a 4.32 ERA.

Beckett, whose previous closest call to a no-hitter was 6 2/3 innings against Detroit when he was with Boston on June 4, 2009

After a walk to Marlon Byrd in the second inning, Beckett would go on and retire 21 in a row. He threw 128 pitches, walking 3 and striking out 6. It was the outing in his career with the most pitches thrown- facing 30 batters along the way.

Yu Darvish had a no-hitter with two outs in the top of the ninth when this happened against David Ortiz...


Darvish lost a perfect game last season with two outs in the ninth and lost the perfect game this time in the seventh.
He struck out 12 and lasted 126 pitches and lost a no-hit bid for the third time in his career in the 8th inning or later...

How Many Seattle Mariners Does It Take To Throw A No-Hitter? It Took Six

Usually you don’t call pitching a no-hitter a team effort.  It took six Seattle Mariner pitchers to keep the Los Angeles Dodgers hitless Friday night at Safeco Field.

Here’s the final out of the game.

Kevin Millwood started the game and threw six no-hit innings against the Dodgers.  When Millwood came out to the mound to throw the seventh inning he quit after one warm-up toss.  It turns out Millwood left the game due to a mild right groin strain.

After Millwood exited the game Charlie Furbush, Stephen Pryor, Lucas Luetge, Brandon League and Tom Wilhelmsen kept the no-hitter intact.  Wilhelmsen had the honor of closing out the no-hittter.

Stephen Pryor was credited with the win as Dodger starter Nathan Evovaldi was keeping the Mariners scoreless.  Evovaldi threw six innings allowing just 5 hits.

It was the first career win for Pryor, a rookie.

The six pitchers used by the Mariners is the most used.  It was also the 10^th combined no-hitter in baseball history.  The first one by the 1917 Boston Red Sox Babe Ruth was the starter.

Short of a walk and a runner allowed on a dropped third strike, the effort was close to perfect...

But the best part was the interview with MLB Network's Harold Reynolds...
Weaver divulged something a lot of guys understand, but really isn't for public knowledge...

DEVELOPING: Would The Padres Get Their First Ever No-Hitter...???

Through the first eight-and-a-half innings of the Padres-Dodgers game, only the Padres Cameron Maybin had the only base hit... for either team...

The Dodgers group of De La Rosa, Guerrier, McDougal, and Hawksworth kept the visitors off the bases while the Padres group of Harang, Spence, Qualls, and Adams kept the Dodgers doing the same- minus the one hit...

Luke Gregerson pitched the ninth for the San Diegans facing Matt Kemp for a three-pitch strikeout. James Loney was batter two. Loney fought off a few pitches before grounding out to first and Anthony Rizzo for out number two.

That brought up Juan Uribe... hitting .205 on the year leading into the at bat. Uribe would hit a two-out double off the wall for the end of that idea over the head of Chris Denorfia...

So, the answer is: "No..."

Dioner Navarro got the game-winning single... even after trying to avoid his team and their attempted tackling of him after the run scores...
