Sterling Misdeeds Date Back To 1996 And The NBA Knew

((HT: NBC Los Angeles))

All of Donald Sterling's (and the Sterling family, for that matter) misdeeds are coming to the surface in light of his banishment from the NBA earlier this week.

In the press conference, Inside Edition's Lisa Guerrero asked Commissioner Adam Silver why no previous investigations had happened with his run-ins with the Justice Department well-documented...

The question is at the 5:40 mark...
((HT: NBA))

So, with the response being (from Silver) that he wasn't in charge then to render such a decision and that the other cases were monitored, the video involving Rochelle Sterling came out yesterday her at OSG Sports and now more instances of Sterling's litigious nature and past behavior are coming forward...

A lawsuit, that the lawyer involved in the case remembers dealing with the NBA's insurance company in a sexual harassment suit, dates back to 1996 that names Sterling as the defendant. The case detailed harassment by Sterling towards a female Clippers employee and it's not even the only one.

There's another case where Sterling admitted in deposition that he paid a woman for sex. That one was settled with a confidentiality attachment.

Here's Patrick Healy standing on a cliff in Malibu with the lawyer in the '96 case...

And why does the HQ think that this won't even be the beginning of the end...

((HT: MyFoxBoston))

And it all stems from the February incident with another inmate in the Bristol County (MA) House of Corrections...

The former Patriots tight end will be arraigned on those additional charges at an unknown date.

Here's the update on the litany of charges that seem to be adding up for Aaron Hernandez

Doesn't Look Like Rochelle Sterling Will Get The Clips, Either...

((HT: KABC-TV))

There is a lingering question about the Clippers ownership...

Since the Sterlings are still married and the state of California is a community property state, is half the franchise hers to begin with...??? And can her half be even more of a legal pain to extract from the family coffers if she files for divorce- or even if she doesn't...

In the end, it may not matter a whole heckuva lot...

There was a video that SplashNewsOnline gave to TMZ where Rochelle Sterling made a point to defend her husband as they came out of a steakhouse recently...

But ABC News has video of Rochelle Sterling from 2006 where she, allegedly, misrepresented herself to tenants to gain access to their apartments

"Nightline" correspondent Ryan Smith has the long version of the Gregory story that includes the SplashNews video...

Now, it's Mrs. Sterling's turn to say if it's her or not...

If the answer is what the HQ thinks it will be...

The Sterlings really are done...

Torts Fired In Vancouver After One Year

((HT: Sportsnet))

Surprising no one, really, John Tortorella was fired after one year coaching in Vancouver...

But the "Hockey Central" guys think that one night against the Flames may have done the deal...

And the HQ would agree...
It's all on Trevor Linden now...

55 Schools Under Title IX Sexual Assault Probe

This can't be good...

A Department of Education probe went as far as releasing the names of 55 colleges and universities currently being looked at for their handling (or lack thereof) of sexual assault cases on campus.

Just because the school was named in the report doesn't mean there is a violation. But is does mean that the DoE is looking into something on campus...

“We hope this increased transparency will spur community dialogue about this important issue,” said Catherine E. Lhamon, assistant secretary for civil rights. “I also want to make it clear that a college or university’s appearance on this list and being the subject of a Title IX investigation in no way indicates at this stage that the college or university is violating or has violated the law.”

President Barack Obama created a task force to look at the issue after hearing complaints about the treatment of rape victims on college campuses. The results were released this week.

Title IX itself, as part of its language, prohibits discrimination in schools that get federal funding. Funds can be withheld if serious violations of Title IX are found by these investigations. But that really hasn't happened as a consistent by-product of digging...

A website is now up, notalone.gov, offering information to victims about past enforcement actions on campuses. Their lead paragraph:

Information for students, schools, and anyone interested in finding resources on how to respond to and prevent sexual assault on college and university campuses and in our schools.

Game Sevens Times Three Finish Round 1

((HT: NHL/NBCSN/CNBC))

It's what this time of year is all about... other than the tanning and vacations...

Game Sevens make late night viewing all good...

And the NHL last night had three Game Sevens to close out the first round...

First stop was New York City for the Rangers and Flyers...
And when the fourth line is contributing (see: Dan Carcillo), it's going to be a good night for you. But, these days, Carcillo is in Ranger Blue and not Flyers orange...

Game Two went for a while...

Because there's only one thing better than a Game Seven...
It's a Game Seven that goes to overtime. Minnesota escapes the first round since 2000 with an overtime win at Colorado. Avs head coach Patrick Roy was pleased with his team's efforts this season. But he was obviously, disappointed with the premature finish of the season...

The larger question for Minnesota in Round Two is the status of Wild goalie Darcy Kuemper- who had to leave the game in the third period, yielding to Ilya Bryzgalov. Bryz made one save for the rest of the game, but that's all that needed to be made as the Wild take on Chicago...

The late game, probably, is the end of the lifespan of Todd McLellan in San Jose. The Sharks had a 3-0 lead in the series against Los Angeles. But the Kings rediscovered their defense in and around goalie Jonathan Quick and became the fourth team in the history if the NHL playoffs to come back from a 3-0 series deficit to win a series, 5-1 in Game 7...

That sets up Chicago and Minnesota and the Freezeway Series between LA and Anaheim...
