Sutherland Cards First-Ever Champions Tour 59

((HT: Golf Channel))

And, to think, Kevin Sutherland had a putt for 58...

In Endicott, New York, one-time PGA Tour winner Kevin Sutherland had the round of his life in the second round of the Champions Tour event Saturday. His front side was seven birdies and an eagle finishing with 12 birdies overall.

His only misstep was the par putt on 18... for a 28-31 scorecard...

Here's the highlights of the round...

Nine players shot 60 on the Champions Tour- most recently Michael Allen at the 2014 Allianz Championship.
Six players have shot 59 on the PGA Tour- most recently Jim Furyk at the 2013 BMW Championship.

How About Hole-ing Out For A 59...???

((HT: PGA Tour Canada/Shane Bacon))

Devil Ball Golf gets the credit for this one...

Brady Schnell is chasing Brock McKenzie after two rounds of the tournament in Calgary.

Really, he's only a few strokes back. But what McKenzie did in two rounds (16-under), Schnell is doing in one. Schnell holed out a wedge to shoot a 59 in the second round of the tournament and is now only the second player to shoot sub-60 in a PGA Tour Canada event. The other is Jason Bohn who actually shot a 58.

Fact is, Schnell was only looking to get the wedge close to shoot 60...

Here's Brady talking about his 59 and knowing he did it the second he holed out

Here's Round One highlights, by the way...

Tiger Gets 2-Stroke Penalty, Furyk Shoots 59

((HT: Golf Channel))

It was an interesting day at the BMW Championship...

Jim Furyk joined the list of the immortals with a not-so-mythical 59...

Furyk's 59 was the first on tour since Stuart Appleby in the final round of The Greenbrier Classic in 2010. The others who scored 59 were Al Geiberger in the 1977 Memphis Classic; Chip Beck in the 1991 Las Vegas Invitational; David Duval in the 1999 Bob Hope Classic; and Paul Goydos in the 2010 John Deere Classic.

"There's not much I could have improved on today," Furyk said.

Check it out...the HQ agrees...

But Tiger Woods had the weekly phone in from a viewer that cost him...
Evidence Below...

Obviously, Woods thought the ball oscillated and didn't move...
And also, obviously, he didn't hang around for questions...

So, Is 59 Too Easy To Get These Days...???

((HT: webdotcomtour))

Isn't this the second time this year that someone has cleared a 59 on the web.com tour...???

It's the second round of the Albertson's tournament in Boise, and Russell Knox followed up his 69 with a 59- and he finished par-par for the 59...???

How's that...???

Will Willcox did it during the final round of the Utah Championship a few weeks ago to finish tied for third. But get this... the 59 by Knox was just the fifth ever on the Web.com tour...

Two in three weeks and five all-time...???

Knox is one up on the leaderboard at the half-way point...

Here's the putt for 59

Will Wilcox Fires A 59 On Web.Com Tour

You got to be on to break 60 in golf.  Will Wilcox was today in the final round of the Utah Championship on the Web.com Tour.

Wilcox fired golf's magic number, a 59 in Sunday's final round.

Here's the putt at 18 to seal the 59.

Wilcox had 10 birdies, an eagle and nine pars for a 12 under 59.

Unfortunately that score wasn't good enough to win the Utah Championship as Wilcox finished -21 for the tournament.

Steven Alker and Ashley hall finished at -22 that forced a playoff.  Alker would birdie the first playoff hole to win the tournament.

Here's How To Rebound From A 74

((HT: Pinehurst1895 their own selves))

Will Grimmer shot a 59 to follow up- and he's still not leading the North and South Junior at Pinehurst...

The 16 year old made a bogey, 10 birdies, and an eagle to shoot the only known recorded 59 on the course...

Grimmer was only one-under through five, but went berserk from there...

He’s currently third after a 3-over 74 two back of Will Blalock.

Here's the interview about his round...

Phil Mickelson and the Near 59

Talk about having a good day.

PGA Golfer Phil Mickelson, already recognized as one of the greats playing the game today, added to his legend Thursday at the Phoenix Open.

That's where he nearly went into the record books, shooting an 11-under, 60 to take the early first round lead.

Mickelson had a chance to walk away with a record tying 59, something done only 5 times in PGA Tournament history, but lipped out his birdie putt on the last hole.

For those who missed it, here's the last putt (Thanks PGA Tour)
