Alex Ovechkin: Music Video Star

Haha! This is kind of funny even if we have no idea what the lyrics to the song are.

Check out this Russian music video from a Russian pop music singer named Katyla Lel. In her latest music video, she writhes, grinds and slithers all over a man standing statuesquely in the middle of the shot.

That man: None other that Washington Capitals star winger Alexander Ovechkin. Yes, Ovechkin is Russian too.

Ovechkin eventually gets to do something other than coldly stand still as they let him suit up and shoot CGI pucks at Lel who is also slithering all over a goalie net on the ice.

Wonder how many takes it took to get all this right?

Ovie Says He's Okay... BUT...

((HT: TSN BarDown))

This knee-on-knee almost broke Twitter earlier Sunday when Team Russia had this happen on the ice at the IIHF World Championships

There was talk of hospitals, pictures of ambulances, and a near revolt...

So, you know... the German player who hip checked and injured Ovechkin is Marcus Kink. When asked about the hit by Russian reporters, Kink stormed off in post-game interviews.

And Slava Malamud, through his Twitter feed, offered this bit of optimism:

Alex Ovechkin is back in the team hotel. Walking on his own, no crutches, but limping. Team doctor says it's "better than expected"

We'll see how Team Russia responds at the Worlds from this moment on...

Not What Caps Fans Want Right Now... Ovi8 Quitting On A Play

((HT: Sportsnet))

All the HQ can really say is watch 8-Red during this play that went from a 3-0 Dallas lead to a 4-0 Dallas lead in the game last night...
Caps head coach Adam Oates made an example of his star: “Ovie quit on the play coming back,” Oates said Wednesday. “Just goes to show you you’ve got to hustle the entire time. The whole entire time.” And that's what you see in one of the game's elite scorers who is also carrying a huge minus on the plus-minus scale... With six games left in the regular season, the Caps are two points out of the second wild card spot. They're not just two points out of the normal 8th spot. They're two points out of the last wild card spot... Now, that the NHL let's nine teams in, you don't have to have as much success and still get in to the playoffs. And the Caps aren't even doing that well... Here's the postgame reaction from Ovie after the 5-0 loss... ((HT: CSNWashington))
"Too many mistakes..."

Correct...

Ovi Apologizes For Sochi Performance

((HT: CSNWashington))

Stand up guy...

That's all the HQ can say about Alexander Ovechkin as he came back to the States...

He did this for his home fans...

Some of the Team USA squad did the same thing, but the fan base can take count in the idea that USA at least made it to the medal round...

Sabre Thrown Out Of Faceoff By Make-A-Wish Kid

((HT: CSN Washington))

Braden Nienaber had his Make-A-Wish Foundation wish granted in and around the Washington Capitals day against the Buffalo Sabres...

And the best part was what he did at the opening promo faceoff between Alexander Ovechkin and Steve Ott

Here's the video...

How cool is that...???
And great presence of mind by Braden...

Ovechkin's Slapper Needs Some Work

((HT: TSN/Instagram))

Unless, of course, his aim was intentional during this TSN promo shoot...

Hey, hockey season can't some soon enough...

Winnipeg Gives Ovie Pieces Of Their Mind

((HT: CSNWashington/NHL/HockeyVideoHD))

The game last night at MTS Centre between Winnipeg and Washington, had the Jets lost, would have pretty much wrapped up the Jets season. They were four points back for the Southeast Division lead, and it looks like only two teams may get in with Florida, Washington, and Winnipeg in the hunt.

So, with Alexander Ovechkin in the house, the Jets faithful gave Ovie their thoughts on who is better: Him or 87...???

Here's the joyful noise...

The bigger question is: When Pittsburgh comes to town, will they flip the chant...???

Ovie Gets Three Games

The NHL has suspended Washington's Alex Ovechkin 3 games for yesterday's hit on Pittsburgh's Zbynek Michalek...

Seen below with the explanation by discipline czar Brendan Shanahan...
((HT: NHL))

The Caps are one point out of seventh in the Eastern Conference, but only two points out of ninth with the Maple Leafs on their heels. It will be interesting to see how the Caps and all the fantasy owners who have Ovechkin will deal with his vacation.

Did Ovie Spit On Dorsett...???

Columbus enforcer Derek Dorsett is saying Ovechkin did down below...
((HT: CSNWashington))

“I haven’t told many people this, but he spit in my face,”
Dorsett told The Columbus Dispatch. “That got me a little more mad.”

Ovechkin, of course, denied it...

“No, no, no. I don’t know. Show me that moment, I want to see it. No."

The HQ would just like to ask: What does it say about an enforcer if he's complaining that one of the league's stars did something to him...???

Don't those guys do their own thing to settle scores...???

Jus' axin'...
