Nancy Lee Grahn Scores... From Center Ice...

((HT: Nancy Lee Grahn's Facebook Page))

Get your head out of the gutter...

Unless, you're talking about her current role as Alexis Davis on "General Hospital" where her pairing with William deVry has created the "Julexis Army"- which, as a group, you should never make angry by disparaging their behavior in any way.

But, she is a native of Skokie, Illinois and had to train for a celebrity shot from center ice at a recent Blackhawks game against the Dallas Stars. She was one of a handful to pull the trigger and try to put the puck in that really small hole in the center of the plywood that no one can ever shoot it in to successfully...

Unless you get a little pre-shoot help from Bobby Hull...

Here's the look from the rafters at the United Center from her Facebook Page

TOP THAT!!!

The HQ has always held Grahn as a Top Five since her days on "Santa Barbara," but we'll challenge her allegiance to the Blackhawks to our LA Kings any time...

Try And Sell One Of Those On The Black Market

((HT:WSVN-TV))

It's not very day the HQ does a story like this one...

For those of us who work in live event television, we need to function with one of those 40 to 50 feet long that has a lot of cameras, bells and other associated whistles, and the folks that go with it.

The NFL Network is in Miami getting ready to do the Dolphins-Bills game and all the other ancillary programs that go with Thursday Night Football.

But, the folks at NEP are responsible for the television production truck. The only problem is that the truck that was doing all the lion's share of the work was lifted from a gated hotel.

Nicole Linsalata is outside the hotel with the story of something you can't hide or hock.

25 Years Ago: The World Series Got Really Unimportant

((HT: ABC Sports/News 10/KGO-TV/ESPN))

It was one of those moments where you remember where you were as a sports fan...

And we agree with Al Michaels when a simple pre-game took a big turn...

Then, sports guys turned news guys in a hurry...and did an amazing job

And they went for a while...

And kept going

And kept going...

Okay, faithful reader/watcher...

What do you remember about this day 25 years ago...???

Just want to have you share your thoughts here...

Your Daily Keith Olbermann Rant On AP And The Vikes

((HT: ESPN/Olbermann))

This opening rant was so incisive that the network cut it in two...
Both parts are electric...

And the HQ reminds everyone that KO hasn't been this fired up since he was on Bush 43's daily messes...

He's on a roll and we'll keep posting as long as he is on fire...

Your Daily Vin Scully Storytime

((HT: MLB.com))

This next few minutes should be a lesson for all broadcasters as to how to do your job properly

It was Vin Scully in a 4-run game filling time telling a tremendous story...

Full disclosure...

The HQ makes a point to listen to the first three innings of Dodger home games all the way from the other end of the country...

Andy Murray Crashes Will Ferrell Interview

((HT: SkySports/USTA))

Will Ferrell has been known to frequent a sporting event or two in his day...

These days, he's frequenting the tennis tournament in Flushing, New York.

He was being interviewed when one of the guys playing this week decided to drop by and make it a threesome...

This Didn't Go Over Well: Iowa Sportscaster Slams NDSU Before Iowa State Game

((HT: WHO-TV/96.5TheFox))

If anyone understands the value of the face and heel relationship, it's the HQ...

So, Week 1 is always reserved for the paycheck games mostly... and a lot of folks in the midwest stared at North Dakota State visiting Iowa State as one of those games that was supposed to be chance for the Clones to get the duke. NDSU lost their head coach Craig Bohl to Division I- even as one of the powerhouse schools in I-AA they still had a lot of losses to graduation.

And this came across the airwaves in Des Moines, courtesy of Andy Fales and WHO-TV
Fales wasn't a fan of this game being played period.

A lot of good that did as NDSU pounded Iowa State by 20.

The HQ gives Fales credit for fanning the flames and waving the flag for the home team- even if he was way off...

The Rockford Files And Football

((HT: Universal Studios Television))

James Garner passed today at the age of 86...

Frankly, the HQ didn't realize he was 86 and we also didn't realize he was a purple heart recipient for the time he served this country. We would like to thank him for all that he did in his time with us here on this plane...

So, as a tip of the hat to Garner, we found a "Rockford Files" episode that involves football and has Dick Butkus...

The HQ will still watch the Files when we can and we still maintain that Jim should have always been with Gretchen Corbett's character, Beth Davenport...

The Polarization Of Michael Sam On Dallas TV

((HT: WFAA-TV/KTXD-TV))

The HQ is going to leave the opinions on the subject to you, dear reader...

But it's safe to say that one of the following pieces of video makes sense while the other is just hot air for the sake of ratings... which is which...??? We'll leave to you...

First... Hansen...
And, then, something called "The Broadcast" which the HQ thinks is a Dallas-centric version of "The View"
So...???

Whatcha think...???

We thought so...

A "Game of Thrones" Sportscast For You

((HT: Awful Announcing/WREX-TV))

Okay...

The HQ will admit that we don't get the whole "Game of Thrones" thing...
Never watched an episode, don't feel like we're missing anything because we don't get the whole magical, mystery thing- or, at least, we haven't since we stopped playing Dungeons and Dragons in high school...

But, Dan Cohen of WREX-TV in Rockford, Illinois dropped some of his GoT knowledge on us...
Didn't OD on it... just let it happen...

That'll work, sir...
May your House flourish with the warmth of those around you...

This Five-Ringed Ad From Norway Might Take The Cake

((HT: NewsBreaker))

We have a new contender for making sure Russian President Vladimir Putin gets just how much the world in general doesn't like his policies...

Enjoy... and the end is the kicker...

Dave Pasch And Bill Walton Are Going To Enjoy Washington State

((HT: ESPN via The Big Lead))

Everyone made the joke about the states that were represented in the Roman Numeral Classic and their current (and most recent) election results...

The conversation below kinda sorta alludes to the past election and plays to everything we know about the color commentator

And... scene...

But it's still funny...

The Games Have Always Been A Little Gay...

((HT: CIDI))

That's the tag line for the video below that tackles the Russian government's stance on gay athletes...

Um...

Head on...

The Canadian Institute of Diversity and Inclusion did it... and they should be commended...

“I think it’s important that people realize that outside of Russia there are 70-plus countries where being LGBT is illegal, punishable from anywhere from a couple of years in jail to a death sentence," according to CIDI CEO Michael Bach...

So be it in its brilliance...

Ralph Kiner Passes At 91

((HT: WWOR-TV))

Hall of Famer Ralph Kiner passed today at the age of 91...

The HQ remembers him in this role as we grew up a child of cable television...

But our in-laws know him with his amazing career with the Pirates as a slugger and true hitter...

The Korner will never be the same... and it will be missed...

Hopefully, the Metropolitans will have the appropriate type of homage as we head toward Spring Training and the 2014 season...

Hi, I'm Albert! And I'm Grover! Pujols Appears On Sesame Street

((HT: Sesame Street their own selves))

The HQ really isn't going to comment on this...
You just have to watch for the educational and entertainment value...

Told you...

It's A Bloody Good Ad Campaign

((HT: Toronto FC their own selves))

Let's face it...

TFC had a great week... probably their best week in team history at MLS...

Jermain Defoe and Michael Bradley were signed to add some much-needed firepower to the ranks...

And the team came up with a great ad campaign to celebrate Defoe...

That's some funny stuff right there...

Introducing "Rap Cast", Lefkoe Goes 3-For-3

((HT: WHAS-TV))

Adam Lefkoe has become a favorite at the HQ for:

A) Having 5:00 for a sportscast...
B) Having the stones inside a 5:00 sportscast to theme it out...

First, it was wrestling then it was "Seinfeld..."
Now, we introduce "Rap Cast"

Carry on, Lefkoe...
Carry on...

Ovechkin's Slapper Needs Some Work

((HT: TSN/Instagram))

Unless, of course, his aim was intentional during this TSN promo shoot...

Hey, hockey season can't some soon enough...

Hey, Those Headsets Cost Money, Y'Know...

((HT: FS Ohio/MLB))

As is the Fox Network way over the last few years, they try to have instances during the game where an in-game interview yields some kind of tremendous insight...

During the Indians game Monday night, Justin Masterson (who wasn't pitching that night) was the interviewee...
And his teammates tried to unsettle him during the whole thing...

The HQ gives Masterson credit for his unflappable behavior- he may have a future in television before it's all said and done...
