Suspect In Jakell Mitchell Murder Could Get Probation Revoked

((HT: AL.com/WBRC-TV))

The suspect in the murder of Auburn football player Jakell Mitchell may have his probation revoked over a previous charge.

Markale Hart Hart was arrested on first-degree burglary and first-degree theft charges in September of 2010. He pled guilty to the lesser charge of second-degree burglary on May 3, 2012.

As part of the plea deal, Hart's six-year jail sentence was split, and he was allowed to only serve 6 months in jail followed by 3 years of probation.

With his arrest in the Mitchell case, a motion was filed the county of that crime to revoke his probation.

Hart is in jail waiting on a $500,000 bail and is waiting for a date on the hearing itself.

Here was the arrest of Hill over the weekend

Hart's family is asking for a lower bail figure because of financial hardship. The judge that read the charges declared him indigent during his appearance. Hart's family did not appear at the same hearing because they claim to have received death threats.

Try And Sell One Of Those On The Black Market

((HT:WSVN-TV))

It's not very day the HQ does a story like this one...

For those of us who work in live event television, we need to function with one of those 40 to 50 feet long that has a lot of cameras, bells and other associated whistles, and the folks that go with it.

The NFL Network is in Miami getting ready to do the Dolphins-Bills game and all the other ancillary programs that go with Thursday Night Football.

But, the folks at NEP are responsible for the television production truck. The only problem is that the truck that was doing all the lion's share of the work was lifted from a gated hotel.

Nicole Linsalata is outside the hotel with the story of something you can't hide or hock.

Recardo Wimbush Sought For Child Imprisonment

((HT: WSB-TV))

This story alternates in the HQ's consciousness between classless, weird, and just plain awful.

Former Georgia Tech and NFL linebacker Recardo Wimbush is being sought, along with his wife, on charges that they basically imprisoned their 13-year-old son in their basement for the better part of a year. Police say nine other children were upstairs. The teenage boy was locked in a small room in the basement that had a bucket, a box spring, and a mattress.

The arrest warrant says that Wimbush and his wife told officials that the teenager molested three of his siblings and that was why he was alone downstairs. The child responded that he lied about stealing a DVD player.

The Wimbushes have until Friday to turn themselves in to authorities.

DEVELOPING: This Can't Be Good... 4 UGA Players Arrested On Theft Charges (UPDATED With Richt Reax)

((HT: OnlineAthens.com/Weiszer))

On the heels of releasing Josh Harvey-Clemons for violations of team rules earlier this winter, Weiszer reports that four more have been arrested on "theft by deception" charges.

Defensive back Tray Matthews, defensive lineman Jonathan Taylor and James DeLoach and wide receiver Uriah LeMay are the four. Matthews, according to the article, is facing at least three misdemeanor counts. Taylor and DeLoach are facing two misdemeanor and LeMay four.

Georgia opens spring football practices Tuesday... so, how's that for timing...???

Matthews is from Newnan (GA) High. Taylor and DeLoach are from Jenkins County (GA) High and LeMay is the brother of QB Christian LeMay.

Taylor and DeLoach were being held on bonds totaling $3,000, LeMay on bonds totaling $6,000 and Matthews bonds totaling at least $4,500.

More when we know more...

But just to hold you over, here's some Matthews video during practice from the Athens Banner-Herald

TUESDAY UPDATE: All four practiced with their teammates on Day One of the Spring season...

The four were arrested for, in essence, cashing the same check twice- once through an online picture system and again at a convenience store- the total value of the transactions is a little under $800.

Marc Weiszer explains for the second day in a row...

Matthews, Taylor and DeLoach are alleged to have electronically deposited the checks through a mobile banking app into three different Wells Fargo accounts and then cashed the same paper check at an unknown local convenience store with an account at SunTrust bank, the report said.

LeMay’s roommate, also a UGA athlete, initially cashed four checks electronically and then discarded them. LeMay is alleged to have taken the cash that was trashed and presented it for cash or deposit through a Wells Fargo account.

The investigation on the four players started March 3rd and amounts to both fraud and compliance issues.

Coach Mark Richt addressed the situation as he could after practice...

UPDATE: Cobb Feels "In Danger" After Hauler Theft

((HT: WBTV))

And now Jennifer Jo Cobb doesn't think that fellow racer Mike Harmon should even be allowed to race this weekend in Charlotte because of what has gone down in the last 72 hours.

"Absolutely not, of course but that's not my call," she told WBTV in an interview. "I absolutely feel in danger, absolutely. I've heard some of the things he's been saying to media. I heard that was a quote about going for the jugular, what does that mean? What does that mean?"

Harmon says he has an alibi at the time of the theft- that he was at the Darlington Raceway in South Carolina. He admits that he and Cobb have had business disagreements in the past, but they're being handled in a business-like manner away from the track.

Here's the update that includes Cobb's first public comments...
WBTV 3 News, Weather, Sports, and Traffic for Charlotte, NC

Cobb is currently in Charlotte for the weekend's races with borrowed equipment and she has been giving props to everyone who has been helping her efforts to stay behind the wheel.

From her Facebook page:

Big shout out 2my crew chief, Dan Kolanda 4 keeping a great attitude today &getting our truck better w out our supply of shocks/springs & everything else. Very proud of entire crew! #NeverGiveUp

Cobb also told WBTV that this is all part of a civil matter involving her and a former team partner - a man with whom she had a romantic relationship - named David Novak. NASCAR has commented publicly that they know the situation exists, but they're not involved in the situation...

Former Team Manager Arrested For Cobb Racing Hauler Theft

((HT: Catchfence.com))

The Cobb hauler is what people need to keep an eye on
The Rowan County (NC) Sheriff's Office arrested NASCAR driver Mike Harmon and Sheila Rae Rice for felony larceny and breaking and entering in connection with the theft of the hauler of NCTS driver Jennifer Jo Cobb- valued at $279,000.

Harmon, a driver and team owner primarily in the Nationwide Series, has worked with Cobb in the past. He used to be her team manager in the Nationwide Series when Cobb ran both there and in the truck series.

Harmon posted $10,000 bond late Wednesday evening as did Rice.

The hauler is still missing with a North Carolina Tag# DT-74479 (if the plates are still on it).

On Saturday around 3:00 am, the team transporter was stolen from the team’s race shop in the Charlotte suburb of Mooresville.

“It is my sole concern to get the transporter back so that we can make Friday night’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at the Charlotte Motor Speedway,” said Cobb in a statement released this afternoon through her team. “We are working with other teams right now to borrow the necessary items in the event our hauler and its contents are not returned. We are pleased with the diligent work that the Rowan County Sheriff’s Department has shown in solving this crime.”

Here's the surveillance tape of the theft...
((HT: WBTV-TV))

"I've been around for a long time, but I've never stolen so much as a piece of bubble gum and to be arrested for a felony is ridiculous," Harmon told WBTV. "I did not take her hauler, I've not been to her shop and how they convince the law to put a warrant out on me, I don't know," he said.

Any information on the whereabouts of the stolen property can be directed to the lead investigator, Detective Carl Dangerfield at 704-216-8711

DEVELOPING: Former Auburn DB McNeil Gets 3 Years In Jail

Former Auburn defensive back Mike McNeil has received a split sentence for first-degree robbery.

Lee County (AL) Circuit Judge Christopher Hughes accepted McNeil's plea deal just as he was set to go to trial. McNeil is now required to serve at least three years in the Lee County Jail plus serve an additional three years of probation upon his release. He has also been ordered to pay $2,000 in restitution.

McNeil and three teammates from the Tigers' 2010 national championship team- Antonio Goodwin, Dakota Mosley, and Shaun Kitchens- were charged with armed robbery and dismissed from the team in March 2011. Goodwin is serving a 15-year sentence while Dakota Mosley and Shaun Kitchens are awaiting trial.

McNeil was originally indicted on five counts of first-degree robbery, one count of first-degree burglary and one count of third-degree theft of property from the break-in.

“The totality of the circumstances make this the best deal,” McNeil's attorney, Ben Hand said.

Bynum And His Hair May Not Play This Year

((HT: CSNPhilly))

Sixers inactive center Andrew Bynum, who is earning more than $16 million this season, will be an unrestricted free agent this summer. The Sixers hold his “Larry Bird” rights and therefore can pay him more than any other team. But the team has to wonder whether or not they really want to sign him with all the issues he's had on the floor...

It's, probably, good riddance and don't let the door hit you on the way out...

And, now, city officials are raising eyebrows...

DA Seth Williams even responded to a Tweet by the Philly Inquirer's John Mitchell when the news broke by sending a Tweet of his own:

@JmitchInquirer how much is he getting paid? Do I need to launch a grand jury investigation?

@SheridanScribe @jmitchinquirer it could be fraud, theft of services or robbery. Fans and ticket buyers need to know. 10-9-8-76ers!

Ess-E-Cee's Dumbest Criminal: Ty Flournoy-Smith

((HT: AJC/Towers))

The third-string tight end for the University of Georgia decided that, when he was done with his text books, that he would turn them in for cash and then call the cops telling then that the same books had been stolen...

Not smart... as Ty Smith got busted in very short order...

He had to check into the local hoosegow and was released on $1,000 bond.

It all happened pretty quick," UGA Police chief Jimmy Williamson said. "Unfortunately books and back-packs are stolen all the time and we know all the places they take them. It became apparent that Ty had returned the books himself."

According to Towers, Flournoy-Smith sent out a tweet at 2 a.m. from his Twitter account, @SeeMyAmbition80__ that said, "You live, and you learn."

Flournoy-Smith was an all-state selection from Colquitt County High School in Moultrie, Georgia...

Former Players Charged In Jewelry Theft Of Coach

((HT: MyFoxHouston))

And it was their former coach...

Texas Southern University head coach Tony Harvey was on the road with his team. His cleaning lady, apparently, noticed that one of his windows in his house had been bashed in and some of his jewelry was gone...

Street value: A little over half-a-million dollars!!!

Doug Delony caught up with Harvey...

TSU Basketball Players Accused of Stealing from Coach: MyFoxHOUSTON.com

The larger question the HQ has is: How is it that a man is in possession of his own jewelry that has a street value of OVER $500,000...???

Jus' axin...
But the best part of the whole thing is that the two suspects were trying to hock almost $100,000 for only $3,600...

What-a-bah-gin...
