((HT: NBCSN/Sky Sports))
The HQ saw that Crystal Palace would be the first to sack a manager in the Premier League season- Neil Warnock on Saturday after a 3-1 loss to Southampton as they fight in relegation.
Now, West Brom (struggling themselves at the bottom of the table) has sacked Alan Irvine who was regarded as a strange choice to take over in the first place after last season's misfortunes. The West Brom side have lost three in a row and are currently 16th in the table, but they're only one point above the drop zone.
The odd part of all this was that former Spurs manager Tim Sherwood was in line to take over for Warnock at Palace, but now he is lined up to take over for Irvine- according to the London Telegraph.
Got all that...???
But it gets better...
Alan Pardew may be jetting from Newcastle to go back to the place where he was a player in the 1980's and '90s- Crystal Palace.
Rebecca and the Robbies discuss
There will be a quiz later on...

OSG Prem: And We Have Our First Sacking
((HT: BPL/NBCSN))
At least Crystal Palace waited until after the holiday to do it...
It took this loss to Southampton to send Neil Warnock on his way- after only four months on the job...
Warnock was manager from 2007 and 2010 and was seen as a hopeful replacement for Tony Pulis- who left the squad two days before the regular season after a dispute with the ownership over player control. Pulis, strangely, and former Spurs manager Tim Sherwood are seen as replacements for the replacement now that Palace are back in the relegation zone.
From the Palace website:
Crystal Palace Football Club can today confirm that Neil Warnock has been relieved of his duties and is no longer first-team manager.
The club would like to put on record its thanks to Neil for all his hard work and energy over the past four months.
Keith Millen will lead the team against Queens Park Rangers tomorrow as caretaker manager.
This was the longest time a Premier League season had gone without a sacking since the 95-96 season.

OSG Prem: Leicester City's Pearson Charged By FA For Fan Outburst
((HT: BBC Sport))
LCFC's boss, Nigel Pearson, has never been one to back down from anything short of a charging rhino. And, then, if that happens the rhino would be in for a battle.
Let's face it, LCFC has been in a rough spot in their first year in the Premier League. And a fan allegedly told Pearson that he was a "twat" from the stands in the loss to Liverpool.
Not one to let those kinds of things go, Pearson responded by telling the fan to "f*** off and die."
Pearson wouldn't apologize, either, for it.
((HT: Beanyman Sports/SkySports))
As a result, the FA has charged Pearson:
Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson has been charged by The FA in relation to his side’s game against Liverpool on 2 December 2014.
It is alleged that during the fixture Mr Pearson used abusive and/or insulting words towards a spectator.
He has until 6pm on 16 December 2014 to respond to the charge.
LCFC Supporter's Club chair Cliff Ginnetta told BBC Sport:
"He should put his hands up, admit he was out of order, apologise to the people and move on, that's all everyone wants," said Ginnetta.
"We don't want to make it a big thing or play it out like a pantomime, we just want to get on with winning games.
"I'm sure the majority do (still support him). People are worried and moaning, but that's football fans, you're never really happy. It's the nature of the beast.
"He is popular but this arrogance spills over sometimes."
All this as the Foxes have only taken 2 points out of a possible 27 in their last 9 matches.

OSG Prem: Russell Brand Celebrates West Ham Win In A Very Russell Brand Way
((HT: Beanyman Sports/BPL/BT Sport))
Russell Brand was a busy fan yesterday...
For those of you unaware, the comedian is a big West Ham United fan. And when the Hammers knocked off Manchester City yesterday, it was a reason for great Brand-celebrating...
Like in the post-match interview room with West Ham manager Sam Allardyce
And with his dad, Ron, on live television...

OSG Prem: Liverpool Escapes QPR With A Win
((HT: NBCSN/Beanyman Sports/BBCSport))
And the HQ means "escapes..."
In a game that was, mainly, Liverpool coasting against an inferior side in Queen's Park Rangers the last few minutes were stuff that was edge-of-the-seat madness really...
Two own goals...??? Really...??? Really...
QPR manager Harry Redknapp exposed a big flaw of his team post-match
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers knows he's lucky...
The end result means that Liverpool move up to 5th with QPR dead last in the table. Burnley and QPR are tied at 4 points but the Clarets have an advantage from goal differential of 3.

OSG Prem: How Do You Allow 8 GOALS IN A GAME???!!!
((HT: NBCSN/BPL))
Honestly, the short answer is: Ask Sunderland manager Gus Poyet...
Who, in all actuality, may not be Sunderland manager after this display of epic failness and futility- losing 8-0 on the road at Southampton. The Saints are now third in the table because of an outburst we haven't seen in a while...
Two own goals added to six offensive displays put Sunderland on the ropes for the full 90 minutes.
This effort by Sunderland keeper Vito Mannone seems to sum the whole day up...
Graziano Pelle continues his torrid pace early on with two more goals on the day. Cork, Tadic (who is turning into a fantasy beast after a 4-assist day), Wanyama, and Mane all scored for the winners.
Remember all those people who thought all the sales to Liverpool and all the off-season change would be a disaster...???
Not yet...
Pelle was understated and sounds pretty shocked...

OSG Prem: Sunderland's Vergini Scores Gorgeous Fail
((HT: BPL on NBCSN))
It has been a horrible day on the pitch for Sunderland- down 3-0 at the break against Southampton
This play seems to personify the whole day...
Defender Santiago Vergini scores a beautiful goal, but on his own keeper as he was trying to clear...
See...???

OSG Prem: Newcastle's Odd Season Gets More Odd With Scoreboard Fail
((HT: Iain Macintosh's Vine))
Newcastle United seem to be the Schleprock of the Premier League this season.
Frankly, the HQ doesn't know how manager Alan Pardew is still employed with all the talk of locker room squabbling and poor results on the pitch.
Today, they were set to unveil a new scoreboard in a corner of St. James Park, but there was an issue...
It was flapping in the breeze and created a safety hazard.
A delay of, at least, an hour resulted before their match with Leicester City
Oooofff...

OSG Prem: Sergio Aguero's Busy Day
((HT: BPL on NBCSN))
Spurs seem to give up goals in bunches when it comes to playing Manchester City.
Saturday morning was no different as Sergio Aguero scored all four goals in a PK-laden 4-1 win at the Etihad.
Evidence below...
Aguero joins Edin Dzeko as Man City players who have scored four against Tottenham. He is also now their leading goal scorer with 61- and counting.
The Citizens close Chelsea's league lead to two pending the Blues match at Crystal Palace.

OSG Prem: No Apology From Mourinho On Wenger Remarks
((HT: youtube))
With Chelsea and Arsenal going at it this weekend in the Premier League, the press conferences are flying around between Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger and Chelsea's chosen one...
Mourinho is still hot that the Spanish national squad called up Diego Costa, so he has that to worry about in a week's time. But he also is not offering up an apology for these comments late last year from February.
The HQ likes it when they dig at each other overseas and it comes out like that.
Mourinho, for the record, is not backing down from his assessment.
"It was a consequence of something," Mourinho said when asked. "It was not a deliberate first option to say something. I didn't get an apology. I don't apologise."
And don't ever expect one...

OSG Prem: Okay, Manchester United Isn't All The Way Back...
((HT: BPL on NBCSN))
After the dismantling of QPR last weekend by Manchester United, the HQ had raised an eyebrow thinking that maybe Louis van Gaal had the team going in the right direction.
The HQ may have sold the return a little soon...
After leads of 2-0 and 3-1, Leicester City came storming back at King Power to score FOUR UNANSWERED to beat the Reds 5-3. A lot of people thought the final score was a misprint, but it's not.
In a weekend that was strange to say the very least (like West Brom's win over Spurs also on Sunday), this seemed to be the exclamation point in the whole table.
Here's goal five off a PK reinforcing Ulloa's importance for the Foxes
Louis van Gaal, as you saw at the end of the last highlight, was befuddled and beside himself...

OSG Prem: Manchesters And Everton Have Rough Days
((HT: BPL on NBCSN))
It was just one of those days... and that's what makes the premier League what it is...
Just when you think you have everything figured out- forget it...
First, Burnley was hosting Manchester United- Easy one for the Reds, right...???
Nope... a goalless draw...
Maybe van Gaal was right. It might take a year...
((HT: Beanyman Sports))
City didn't do any better on a day where they could have had SERIOUS bragging rights. Mark Hughes returned to his old haunt coaching Stoke against the Citizens and he came away with the 1-0 win. Once again... shocking...
The best squad money can buy is pitting up some serious numbers already. So much for Diego Costa being out for as many as six weeks with that hamstring he hurt in training. The Blues put up 6 against Tim Howard and Everton. Costa put in two on his own...
Elsewhere, a really mad Harry Redknapp lost Loic Remy in a sale before the transfer deadline. But QPR got the 1-0 win today over Sunderland.
Neil Warnock and Crystal Palace went toe-to-toe with Newcastle- both teams left with a point after a 3-3 draw.
Nathan Dyer put two on West Brom and the Swans added another just because in a Swansea City 3-0 win.
Southampton found some offense somewhere and won 3-1 over West Ham...

OSG Prem: van Gaal Now Says It Will Take A Year
((HT: Sky Sports))
It was weird to say the very least...
Manchester United got bounced from the Capital One Cup yesterday. Which, in and of itself, may not have been a surprise at some point but it was the manner in which they got bounced.
The loss was to League One side MK Dons 4-0...
Yup... 4-0...
And while Manchester United were without a lot of its stars in that line-up, it's still the principle of the thing.
So, we have gone from a third of the season to a full year...
That can't be good...

OSG Prem: Was Vincent Tan Right The Whole Time...???
((HT: Sky Sports))
The prevailing thought was the Malky Mackay was the frontrunner for the vacant Crystal Palace manager's position. But in a quick turn of events, Mackay's offer was pulled from the table and his buddy, Iain Moody, CPFC's Sporting Director resigned in a hurry from his post.
Seems Tan sent a series of documents to the Football Association for review that show Mackay's alleged lack of tact, abusive, homophobic, bigoted language in e-mails, and lack of respect for the game- three things the FA doesn't take too kindly to... 70,000 e-mails and 100,000 texts worth while Mackay and Moody worked at Cardiff City.
The Daily Mail has the full story hyah...
Here's the update from Sky Sports
A statement from Palace about Moody read: "In light of the events of yesterday, sporting director Iain Moody has tendered his resignation and it has been accepted with immediate effect. There will be no further comment from the club on this matter."
Remember, Mackay launched a £7.5m legal claim against Tan for compensation and wrongful dismissal after he was sacked. But he dropped the claim in May and issued an apology to Tan.
Why, the HQ is unsure...
Former Tottenham manager Tim Sherwood is now the favorite to take over.
But, at the same time, Mackay is ready to defend himself in the matter...

((HT: Tristan's Vine))
As if the Spurs-West Ham match needed any more excitement, somebody on a different level of courage than the other fans in attendance felt compelled to do this...

OSG Prem: Don't Think This Is What ManU Had In Mind...
((HT: BPL/NBCSN))
Swansea City had only picked up 1 point in the last six match-ups against Manchester United.
New ManU manager Louis van Gaal, by his own admission, tells folks that it usually takes three months for his system to be in place to the point where he is comfortable with results on the pitch.
You see where this is heading...
Goals from Ki and Sigurdsson gave Swansea City the three points in the season opener of the Premier League season despite Rooney's equalizer- a beauty from the box...

OSG Prem: Pulis Quits Crystal Palace
((HT: Sky Sports))
Two days before the season starts...
It's either one of two things- a selfish move by a manager or the be all-end all in frustration over a squad that hasn't spent any money in the off-season to improve their lot.
The background...
Tony Pulis took over for Ian Holloway in November last season as Palace was in the heart of the relegation battle in the Premier League. He constructed a style of play and a mindset to get everything turned around and had the Eagles finish 11th in the table.
Only two sides know the real reason for his abrupt and shocking departure- Pulis and ownership.
But Palace has gone from receivership to manageable budgets- just not spending any money on importing talent in the process.
One can look at this two ways- considering what Pulis did with what he was given, the front office felt they didn't need to spend. But Pulis, in turn, would present the notion that there is no improvement without spending.
The folks at Sports Tonight discuss the season- presumably before the Pulis walk...
So, was Pulis foolish or did he know what was about to happen and didn't like where it was heading.

OSG Prem: Lampard Joins NYC FC
((HT: NYCFC/MLS))
As another signing in the middle-aged, but still incredibly talented soccer players club, the still-not playing NYC FC has added Frank Lampard on a two-year contract to go with David Villa.
Head Coach Jason Kreis now will, probably, send Lampard down to Australia to play in the A-League with Villa since the club, co-owned by Manchester City and the Yankees, has a year to go before their MLS debut.
Here's his introduction
((HT: Sky Sports))
NYC Sporting Director Claudio Reyna is still aglow with the signing:
"He is a professional, a leader and he ticked all the boxes in terms of the qualities to help grow our team."
The larger question is now, other than fitness, Lampard's international career and if he will add to the 106 caps he has for his country.

OSG Prem: The Title Is Man City's
For the second time in the last three seasons, the Premier League title is in the hands of Manchester City...
In a day with few surprises late moving through the motions early, the ladder stays the same...
Man City takes care of West Ham with few issues, 2-0
Here's their celebration
Elsewhere, it took a while but Liverpool came back from a 1-0 deficit to beat Newcastle 2-1- who were down to nine men before the game was over. Manager Alan Pardue will, surely, have to answer to his team's lack of discipline
The rest of the table:
Chelsea had to fight back from being 1 down at Cardiff City, thanks to an own goal by Azpilicueta, but finish third with a 2-1 win.
Crystal Palace and Fulham tied at 2
Everton shut out Hull City 2-0
Swansea showed some offense for a change- beating Sunderland 3-1
Arsenal relegates Norwich 2-0
Stoke scored the last goal in their game to beat West Brom 2-1
And the Europa League spots to go Everton and Spurs...
Tim Sherwood's managerial swan song was a good one (which is a shame in itself) as Spurs went out hot early and beat Aston Villa 3-0 while Manchester United tied Southampton at ones and will miss European football contest for the first time in a quarter-century.
And now the Silly Season starts...
