OSG Prem: Don't Think This Is What ManU Had In Mind...

((HT: BPL/NBCSN))

Swansea City had only picked up 1 point in the last six match-ups against Manchester United.

New ManU manager Louis van Gaal, by his own admission, tells folks that it usually takes three months for his system to be in place to the point where he is comfortable with results on the pitch.

You see where this is heading...

Goals from Ki and Sigurdsson gave Swansea City the three points in the season opener of the Premier League season despite Rooney's equalizer- a beauty from the box...

The full highlights are here...

And the post-match from van Gaal are here...

Soccer What? 109,000 See ManU vs. Real Madrid in Michigan

Yeah, sure, there are still plenty of old school, narrow-minded people in the U.S who say nobody cares about soccer in the U.S.

We'd argue they are wrong.

Dead wrong.

109,000-plus...a U.S record crowd...showed up Saturday to watch the Real Madrid vs. Manchester United friendly game at the University of Michigan's massive football stadium.

Yes folks, 109,318 people showed up to see a soccer game.

The game was won by Man U and stars like Wayne Rooney and Christiano Ronaldo played in the game, but it's the fact so many people came out to the game that makes this a big story.

Manchester United Blows Out Galaxy By 7

((HT: beINSport))

When you looked at the Starting XI in the Los Angeles Galaxy-Manchester United, there was the prevailing opinion that the Galaxy were more concerned about the MLS regular season than the nearly 86,000 people watching the game at the Rose Bowl were.

ManU put up 7 on a non-starting side with a starting side of their own that included Welbeck, Rooney, Mata, Valencia et al.

It was the worst defeat Galaxy head coach Bruce Arena had as boss...

Louis van Gaal had a good debut as manager, but it's all about what you take from it.

Marcelo Sarvas had the common thought of the Galaxy players:

"I feel embarrassed. I can’t talk about the others, but I feel like that. Doesn't matter who you're playing, I think this is too much -- seven -- and here in Los Angeles. I think we could do much better."

OSG Prem: The Top Stays Top, Except For Arsenal...

((HT: BPL on NBC/SkySports))

It was an unbelievable first twenty minutes for Chelsea against Arsenal...

Earlier in the week The Chosen One (Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho) maintained that his counterpart, Arsene Wenger, was only good at being a "specialist in failure." He kept pushing buttons and made sure everyone was on edge as the game started...

Eto'o and Schurrle made it 2-0 in the first 8 minutes, and then an odd call from referee Andre Marriner gave a red to Kieran Gibbs instead of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain- who lobbied for it and still wasn't given the dismissal...

The red card will be transferred to AOC from Gibbs on Monday, by the way...
And the final was 6-0...congrats to Arsene Wenger in his 1000th appearance as manager... (???)

Mourinho still believes the title is Man City's to lose and after today's display against Fulham, who can really complain about that assessment. Yaya Toure scored on two PK's early on before this strike from the outside gave him his hat trick in a 5-0 win over Fulham...

Not to be outdone, Luis Suarez and Liverpool had their hands full with Cardiff for the first 55 minutes or so, then the Reds took over winning 6-3 as Suarez had a hat trick himself to go with Skrtel and Sturridge

Elsewhere, Hull City shut out West Brom 2-0, Everton held off Swansea 3-2 to keep a look at the Europa qualifier, Newcastle's Cisse scored near the death and dedicated the goal to suspended manger Alan Pardew in a big win over Crystal Palace, Norwich shut out Sunderland 2-0 as well, but the interesting story line late came from West Ham and Manchester United.

Rooney's 50-yarder on Adrian gave the Red Devils enough momentum to pull out a 2-0 win themselves...
Here's the goal- again- because we can... and Beckham's reaction was priceless...

OSG Prem: Rooney Golazo Puts ManU Up Early

((HT: BPL))

A truly ridiculous strike by Rooney put Manchester United up 1-0 early at West Ham...

NBCSN clocked it at 51 yards... and Rooney added a poacher's goal for the 2-0 margin at the half...

The HQ will have your full day report a litter later on this afternoon...

OSG UEFA: RvP Hat Trick Lifts ManU To Elite 8

((HT: Instagram via aboalifz))

David Moyes is still alive in one part of the Manchester United trophy case...

A Robin van Persie hat trick gave the Red Devils a 3-2 aggregate win over Olympiacos to advance to the next stage of the Champions League...

Here's the third, which was a masterstroke, with Wayne Rooney as a decoy...

OSG Prem: Chelsea And Man City Escape, United, Hull, Arsenal Roll...

It was an interesting day...

It went until the bitter end for Chelsea before they knocked off Everton 1-0...
John Terry with the game-winner...

The Chosen One seemed a little shell-shocked at his fortunes...
((HT: BBCSport))

Arsenal put the hammer down against the Black Cats...up 3-0 early and 4-1 final...
Arsene Wenger called it a "vital and convincing win..."
((HT: SkySports))

Manchester United got a huge three points at Crystal Palace- one of the goals coming from Wayne Rooney

Manchester City held off Stoke 1-0 and the action at the bottom made life interesting...
Hull City got two from Nikica Jelavic and smoked Cardiff 4-0
West Ham took care of Southampton in a bit of a surprise 3-1
And West Brom and Fulham resolved nothing in a 1-1 draw...

Chelsea remains a point ahead of Arsenal atop the table. Man City is third with 57 points. Liverpool are fourth with 53 points. The Europa League spot is Spurs at the moment as they're five points clear of both United and Everton.

Relegation remains Sunderland, Cardiff City, and Fulham

ManU Clinches Prem Title Easily... And The HQ Means "Easily..."

((HT: Fox Sports/EPL))

Manchester United decided to put Man City and everyone else out of their misery by blowing out Aston Villa at home to win the Premier League crown after losing out on the last day of the season in 2012.

It took Robin van Persie the sum total of 33 minutes to score a frigging hat trick- the second goal (eventually seen below) was a thing of beauty involving Wayne Rooney and the ball rarely touching the turf...

Here's the highlights that have a lot of van Persie in them...

Arsene Wenger and Arsenal got to see first-hand just how much a healthy RvP can impact a franchise- good enough to give the Reds their 20th title in history. Sir Alex Ferguson and Manchester United have won 13 of the 21 Premier League titles. And this is the earliest a club has clinched the trophy since Manchester United on April 14, 2001.

Naturally...

If ManU wins out, they could break Chelsea's points record of 95 in 2004-05.

And don't think that is not on the team's mind or anything...

OSG Prem: ManU Down 3, Ties At Chelsea

((HT: FoxSoccer))

The HQ tried to explain the Premier League to TBH- even as she knows that it is the new toy in the toy box.

The matchup between Chelsea and Manchester United is like Alabama playing Florida if they had their best teams and they never graduated them.

The game played earlier Sunday was distinctly two halves- and CBSSports writer Bryan D. Fischer had the line of the day when he wondered when Mike Sherman started coaching the Blues.

Chelsea was up 3-0, but ended up drawing 3-3 thanks to the help below...

Here are the two Rooney PK's to draw the Reds to within one...
<a href="http://msn.foxsports.com/video?videoid=440faea5-cc92-49f2-a796-a0b6aac05b24&amp;src=v5:embed::" target="_new" title="Two gift goals for Man Utd?">Video: Two gift goals for Man Utd?</a>

ManU is still two points behind ManCity at the top of the table. Chelsea is now in a fight for fourth with surprising Newcastle who beat Aston Villa 2-1 behind goals from Cisse and Demba Ba.

What Next For The Gunners...???

((HT: Foxsports.com))

Those of you that follow the Premier League, and the HQ is a new convert, know that Arsenal is in trouble... in a lot of ways, and we're only at week 4 of the season...

Manager Arsene Wenger has had to deal with- the exoduses of Fabregas and Nasry are the two new examples- without suitable financial, athletic replacements on the roster sheet currently...

So, their last opponent was Manchester United at Old Trafford... and it was the worst beating The Gunners took since 1896. It was also the first time ManU scored 8 since 1999...

It was fugly... not just ugly...

Here's the highlights... and there are a lot of them...
<a href="http://msn.foxsports.com/foxsoccer/video?vid=835b6cc5-279d-45f4-83d8-032ddd88f924" target="_new" title="">The Red Devils bring the fire!</a>

So Rooney scores three, Young scores two, and three others tallied. And the chant from the Red fans was "You're getting sacked tomorrow" toward Wenger.

But the larger question is: Will Arsenal make a move to be competitive or will they stay in the middle of the pack...???
