After an Eden Hazard penalty kick that put Chelsea up 1-0 and a near miss by Jack Wilshere to equalize, it's easy to see why tempers are a little short. Apology, no apology...
Failure, not a failure...
All the press conference quotables led to this in a sport where you can't use your hands
When was the last time you saw that...???
The HQ bets: NE-VAH!!!

OSG Prem: No Apology From Mourinho On Wenger Remarks
((HT: youtube))
With Chelsea and Arsenal going at it this weekend in the Premier League, the press conferences are flying around between Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger and Chelsea's chosen one...
Mourinho is still hot that the Spanish national squad called up Diego Costa, so he has that to worry about in a week's time. But he also is not offering up an apology for these comments late last year from February.
The HQ likes it when they dig at each other overseas and it comes out like that.
Mourinho, for the record, is not backing down from his assessment.
"It was a consequence of something," Mourinho said when asked. "It was not a deliberate first option to say something. I didn't get an apology. I don't apologise."
And don't ever expect one...

OSG Prem: Mourinho Does It Again...Man City Closes The Gap
((HT: NBCSN/BBC/SkySports))
So...
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho poo-pooed his whole week- told his Board he needed to prepare for Champions League play and asked to put a "B" side in against Liverpool... telling everyone the title is Liverpool's (or Man City's)...
Who's the dumb one now...???
After a deadly slip on defense in the first half by Steven Gerrard and a transitional goal in extra time by Willian, Chelsea tightens the race at the top and gives Man City the opening they needed all along...
And Mourinho afterwards was, well, Classic Mourinho...
Elsewhere, Sunderland- behind Connor Wickham again whacked Cardiff to escape the bottom of the table 4-0...
And Manchester City got within three points of Liverpool with a game in hand with their win at Crystal Palace. Dzeko scored in the fourth minute and Yaya Toure went through the Palace defense for the 2-0 lead at the break. They never looked back in the win at Selhurst Park...
Here's the Toure screamer...

OSG Prem: Sunderland Shocks The World...
((HT: NBCSN/BPL/BBC Sport/SkySports))
To explain what happened to college football fans, it would be like Kentucky beating Alabama in Tuscaloosa...
So, by extension, the HQ wonders if there were couches burned by Sunderland fans after knocking off Chelsea at Stamford Bridge- making it the first loss for a Jose Mourinho-coached side in 78 games...
The Special One was not pleased...
But here's the long version...
With Spurs win over Fulham, Swansea's win over Newcastle, and the draw between Stoke City and Cardiff City, the bottom now looks like this...
16 West Bromwich Albion 33
17 Norwich City 32
18 Cardiff City 30
19 Fulham 30
20 Sunderland 29
Norwich have Liverpool Sunday and Sunderland still have a game in hand...
Here's the top...
1 Liverpool 77
2 Chelsea 75
3 Manchester City 71
4 Arsenal 67
Man City still have games in hand, but they need to win out and get lots of help...
Elsewhere, Crystal Palace are now 6 points clear in 11th after a win over 12th place West Ham and Aston Villa and Southampton solved nothing with a goalless draw...

OSG Prem: Mourinho Concedes Title, Man City-Arsenal Rules The Afternoon
((HT: BPL/Sky Sports/NBCSN))
The early morning started with protests above Old Trafford, but a big win inside as Manchester United went down a goal early. They came back to win 4-1 over Aston Villa thanks to two Wayne Rooney goals.
Elsewhere...
Southampton continued their claim to the top half by blowing out an outgunned Newcastle side 4-0.
Peter Odemwingie scored to give Stoke a 1-0 over Hull City
Two goals from de Guizman gave Swansea a big three points in a 3-0 over Norwich
Now, to the wild stuff...
The last time Chelsea's John Terry gave up an own goal was, like, in 1934 or something. But his OG in the 52nd minute gave Crystal Palace their first win over the Blues since 1990. The Eagles got a HUGE three points taking them 5 points clear of the drop. Afterwards, Jose Mourinho all but conceded the title...
West Brom and Cardiff had all the appearance of a six-pointer with the Bluebirds in the drop zone and the opponents hovering just above it. The game had its huge swings of momentum, and the Baggies' Morgan Amalfitano gave Paul Merson fits...
((HT:Sky Sports))
And then, there was all the late drama of stoppage time...
Cardiff manager Ole Gunnar Solksjaer seemed to get a good laugh out of the last two minutes along with counterpart Pepe Mel. He still seemed a little shocked about getting a point out of the deal...
((HT: BBC Sport))
So, that put everything into the courts of Man City and Arsenal- who were the nightcap at the Emirates.
David Silva had the Citizens up at the break, but his squad gave up their first goal since February 3rd to Flamini. The game ends in a 1-1 draw and keeps Chelsea one up on Liverpool with City another point back- with two games in hand.
Arsenal are three back of third with the Reds playing tomorrow.

OSG Prem: The Top Stays Top, Except For Arsenal...
((HT: BPL on NBC/SkySports))
It was an unbelievable first twenty minutes for Chelsea against Arsenal...
Earlier in the week The Chosen One (Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho) maintained that his counterpart, Arsene Wenger, was only good at being a "specialist in failure." He kept pushing buttons and made sure everyone was on edge as the game started...
Eto'o and Schurrle made it 2-0 in the first 8 minutes, and then an odd call from referee Andre Marriner gave a red to Kieran Gibbs instead of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain- who lobbied for it and still wasn't given the dismissal...
The red card will be transferred to AOC from Gibbs on Monday, by the way...
And the final was 6-0...congrats to Arsene Wenger in his 1000th appearance as manager... (???)
Mourinho still believes the title is Man City's to lose and after today's display against Fulham, who can really complain about that assessment. Yaya Toure scored on two PK's early on before this strike from the outside gave him his hat trick in a 5-0 win over Fulham...
Not to be outdone, Luis Suarez and Liverpool had their hands full with Cardiff for the first 55 minutes or so, then the Reds took over winning 6-3 as Suarez had a hat trick himself to go with Skrtel and Sturridge
Elsewhere, Hull City shut out West Brom 2-0, Everton held off Swansea 3-2 to keep a look at the Europa qualifier, Newcastle's Cisse scored near the death and dedicated the goal to suspended manger Alan Pardew in a big win over Crystal Palace, Norwich shut out Sunderland 2-0 as well, but the interesting story line late came from West Ham and Manchester United.
Rooney's 50-yarder on Adrian gave the Red Devils enough momentum to pull out a 2-0 win themselves...
Here's the goal- again- because we can... and Beckham's reaction was priceless...

OSG Prem: Chelsea Down To 9 Men, Loses At Villa- The Race Tightens
((HT: BPL on NBC/Sky Sports))
How do you say everything by saying nothing...???
You're Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho in your post-match q-and-a after losing a shocker at Villa Park...
Fabien Delph scored the only goal in the 1-0 win that compresses the Premier League table all over again with Arsenal and Liverpool playing Sunday and Man City with three games in hand down only 6 points...
The Blues were handed to red cards- Willian (which was somewhat questionable) and Ramires (which was reckless in his challenge of El Ahmedi). So, once Ramires got his sending off Mourinho wanted to ask questions... he never got the opportunity since he claims referee Chris Foy wouldn't even talk to him.
Afterwards, the Chosen One chose his words...
So, everything compresses...
10-man Man City beat Hull City 2-0
Seamus Coleman broke out a flop shot to help Everton beat Cardiff 2-1
Fulham got a huge win for their hopes to stay up beating Newcastle 1-0
Southampton put up 4 in a win over Norwich
Stoke put up 3 in a win over West Ham- despite Andy Carroll's return
Sunderland and Crystal Palace had a scoreless draw and solved nothing for 17th and 18th in the table
And West Brom got a huge 3 points in stealing a win at Liberty Stadium to defeat Swansea
So, the two big match-ups tomorrow will sort out just how close the top of the table will be and, maybe, Mourinho was right. He's not the favorite after all...

OSG Prem: Chosen One Slams Chosen Reporter
((HT: London Telegraph))
There are lines...and there are LINES...
Reporters will go to certain lengths to get a story, but the HQ has seen what the European press do to get people to frequent their websites, buy their newspapers, or mention a by-line...
Chelsea is in a battle for the Champions League and manager Jose Mourinho is more than happy to deflect the pressure off his team and be the center of the universe to get maximum results and maximum effect...
Like titles... a lot of them...
But the players have to be HIS players... evidence the benching and dismissal of Juan Mata...
Samuel Eto'o is one of his guys... for now...
But...
Mourinho was caught on camera at a commercial event as he told a businessman: "I have a team but no striker."
He also joked about Eto'o's age: "I have Eto'o but he is 32, maybe even 35."
He didn't apologize for the joke, and instead went after the reporter who leaked the information
Chelsea now faces Galatasaray in the next round of Champions League play...

OSG Prem: Chelsea And Man City Escape, United, Hull, Arsenal Roll...
It was an interesting day...
It went until the bitter end for Chelsea before they knocked off Everton 1-0...
John Terry with the game-winner...
The Chosen One seemed a little shell-shocked at his fortunes...
((HT: BBCSport))
Arsenal put the hammer down against the Black Cats...up 3-0 early and 4-1 final...
Arsene Wenger called it a "vital and convincing win..."
((HT: SkySports))
Manchester United got a huge three points at Crystal Palace- one of the goals coming from Wayne Rooney
Manchester City held off Stoke 1-0 and the action at the bottom made life interesting...
Hull City got two from Nikica Jelavic and smoked Cardiff 4-0
West Ham took care of Southampton in a bit of a surprise 3-1
And West Brom and Fulham resolved nothing in a 1-1 draw...
Chelsea remains a point ahead of Arsenal atop the table. Man City is third with 57 points. Liverpool are fourth with 53 points. The Europa League spot is Spurs at the moment as they're five points clear of both United and Everton.
Relegation remains Sunderland, Cardiff City, and Fulham

OSG Prem: Man United Is Mortal...And It Showed At Chelsea
((HT: NBC Sports/BPL))
Let's face it...
This year's Premier League is a log jam and a half...
11 teams are in the relegation talk. There's a group at the top that will be fighting over each other for the Europa League and Champions League spots...
And, then, there's Man United...
Who really just seem to be adrift of everything and everyone right now...
In the middle with everything happening around them and, seemingly, no way to get out of their own way......
Today's match at Chelsea was another example of that as, without van Persie and Rooney, they're only "okay..."
Losing 3-1 to a Samuel Eto'o hat trick... and how does that ever happen, really...???
Here's the highlights...
As to that whole relegation stuff...
West Ham, Sunderland, and Cardiff, each have 18 points...
Villa (24), Hull (23), Norwich (23), and Stoke (22) are right there...
West Brom (21), Swansea (21), Crystal Palace (20) and Fulham (19) are within three points of the drop.
This will go for a while...

Mourinho Doesn't Like Questions About Those Not Playing...
((HT: Sky Sports))
Chelsea is hip deep in the Champions League and the Premier League and the Cap One Cup...
All at the same time... that's how it is over in Europe when it comes to soccer...
Multi-tasking...
So, over the last few weeks, Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has been grilled over not playing Juan Mata. And once Mata played, he did well- saying all the right things all the way about making sure he found a way into the starting XI.
Now, that Mata is playing and Kevin De Bruyne isn't...
Mourinho is getting the same line of questioning and still doesn't like it...
So much for being ready for Steaua Bucharest...

OSG Prem: Mourinho Chases Lambert In Postgame
((HT: BPL/NBCSN))
The Villa-Chelsea match will be more known for a couple of events on the pitch than anything else...
Should Ivanovic have been given a red card for his elbowing of Benteke for the challenge in the air...???
Should Villa have been given a stoppage time PK for a John Terry hand ball in the box...???
Answers are, probably, yes and yes...
Either way... Villa comes away from their first two matches with three points instead of four and Jose Mourinho decided to do some verbal jousting on his counterpart, Paul Lambert, in the postgame interview...
Evidence below...
It will be an interesting season if business picks up the way it has already...

ManU, Man Down: Real Loss In Champions League
Two goals in four minutes spelled the end of Manchester United's run in the UEFA Champions League...
But the 1-0 lead that ManU had on an own goal by Sergio Ramos was knocked aside by a ghost-red card on Nani in his collision with Arbeloa. With Manchester United down to ten men, that was when Real Madrid took advantage.
Jose Mourinho subbed for Luca Modric- and the sub gave instant dividends...
Cristiano Ronaldo scored four minutes later and had a very muted celebration...
Real Madrid moved on to the final 8- despite the conspiracy theories on the lead official...

OSG Prem: DiMatteo Sacked At Chelsea, Rafa On The Clock...??? (UPDATE: Yup, It's Rafa...)
((HT: goal.com))
Roman Abramovich is not one to be patient with what he perceives as failure...
And when manager Roberto di Matteo wasn't having the results both he and Abramovich wanted, it meant that the manager was gone...
Again...
Here's di Matteo's last interview thinking he was still gonna stay- after his loss to Juventus 3-0 this week in Champions League play...
The statement from the Blues:
"The team's recent performances and results have not been good enough and the owner and the Board felt that a change was necessary now to keep the club moving in the right direction as we head into a vitally important part of the season.
"The club faces a difficult task ahead in qualifying for the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League as well as maintaining a strong challenge for the top of the Premier League while competing in three other cup competitions.
"Our aim is to remain as competitive as possible and challenge strongly on all fronts.
"The owner and the Board would like to thank Roberto for all he has done for the club since taking over in March.
"Roberto helped guide us to an historic Champions League victory and a seventh FA Cup. We will never forget the huge contribution he has made to this club's history and he will always be welcome at Stamford Bridge.
"The club will be making an announcement shortly regarding a new first team manager."
Newcastle's Alan Pardew is somewhat shocked and/or disappointed...
Looks like Guardiola, Rafa Benitez, Harry Redknapp, and Jose Mourinho are the favorites to replace di Matteo...
Just depends on who is crazy enough to take the gig... and it is looking more and more like Benitez...
