OSG Prem: Barkley Efforts Help Everton, City Shuts Out United

It was one of the two make-up days for the Premier League this week to swap out games in hand from all the Europa, Champions League, and FA Cup ties...
Everton got to make an early statement against Newcastle and it came from Ross Barkley as the Blues held a league at the half, 1-0 and went on to win 3-0...

OSG Prem: Laudrup Seeks Legal Advice After Sacking

As if anything could go any MORE wrong when it comes to the sacking of the Swansea City manager...
Michael Laudrup had only won one of his last nine and injuries (and a lack of offense) had pinned him in to try and win a lot of matches 1-0 this year. It was a team not capable of coming from behind all that well with injuries to last year's leading scorer, Michu, and starting keeper Michael Worm
The win in the Capital One Cup over Bradford City seems like a distant memory now...
So, let's show it...
Laudrup has now confirmed through a statement released by the League Manager's Association (LMA) that he may go all legal on Swansea as a response:
"I am deeply disappointed to have been dismissed as manager of Swansea City," he said in the statement. "In particular, the manner in which it happened and the actions the club has taken since notifying me in the briefest of letters which gave no reasons why such hasty and final action was deemed necessary."
The team is currently 12th in the table, but the drop zone is within a game or so of seven different teams that aren't there now...
And next up for Swansea is the Welsh derby with Cardiff this weekend...

In the most recent version of "what have you done for me lately?" The Swansea front office, amidst rumor of split opinions on manager Michael Laudrup, has sacked him as the team is fighting to avoid the drop...
Last season's top-ten Premier finish and Cap One Cup win be damned, all the injuries in the world not withstanding (especially to Michu), but winning only one of your last ten will do this for you...
“It is a decision we have taken reluctantly," Swansea City chairman Huw Jenkins said on the clubs website. “But it’s a decision made in the best interests of Swansea City Football Club and our supporters. It is the first time in nearly 10 years that the club has parted with a manager in this way, but we had to remove the constant uncertainty surrounding the club and Michael’s long-term future with us.”
Garry Monk and Alan Curtis will share coaching for the remainder of the season- and all that's up next is the back-end of the Welsh derby with Cardiff Saturday afternoon...
So, in remembrance, here's the 5-0 whitewash of Bradford City in the final from Wembley:

Financial projections for Manchester United are always meant with a top-4 finish in the Premier League and semi-finals appearances in the competition cups in mind...
That, now, has to change as Swansea beat 10-man United in the 3rd round of the FA Cup earlier today at Old Trafford...
Wayne Routledge has a pretty goal early on for the 1-0 lead...

But, Fabio issued a vicious challenge that led to a red card offense and put United down a man as they tried to come from behind...
It didn't come to pass, so Swansea gets their first win ever at Old Trafford and United has four home losses in their last six matches as Wilfired Bony got the game-winner late in regulation...
Not what the home fans expect as the Swans now join Chelsea, Nottingham Forest, Sunderland, and Liverpool in the next round.

OSG Prem: Nathan Dyer REALLY Wanted That Hat Trick

The Capital One Cup was decided today at Wembley between Premier League side Swansea City and League Two side Bradford City. The Bantams knocked off three Prem sides- Arsenal, Aston Villa, and Wigan on their way to the final.
But today was an entirely different ballgame for them...
It ended up being a 5-0 whitewash for the Swans as Nathan Dyer and Jonathan DeGuzman scored twice and Michu scored once. They become the first Welsh side to win the Cap One Cup, but not without a heated moment...
The Bantams keeper, Matt Duke, took out Dyer that set up the penalty kick at 3-0 early in the second half. Dyer was the player Duke fouled, but he didn't get to take the PK...
Dyer wasn't happy about it...
It would have been the first player to get a hat trick in the history of the event, but the Swans will have to settle for having the largest margin of victory...

Bradford City To Honor Valley Parade Victims In Cap One Final

League 2 Bradford City has had a run for the ages in the Capital One Cup and they'll go against Swansea for the title.
But they'll have others on their mind when they take to Wembley for the Cup...
Their tracksuit tops will have the number 56 and the words 'Always With Us' embroidered on the front- marking the occasion by remembering the 56 fans who died in the fire at their home stadium, Valley Parade, almost 28 years ago.
Bradford City supporters camped out overnight in the snow last week for tickets and almost 32,000 will get to go to Wembley.
But here's how the event fell out live May 11th, 1985...

OSG Prem: Chelsea's Hazard Kicks Ball Boy

Chelsea was trailing Swansea City 2-0 on aggregate in the Capital One Cup action this afternoon/tonight and Eden Hazard, in a moment of desperation, decided to do the following to a ball boy in Wales...
Classy move... and it got him an instant red card from the official...
Manager Rafa Benitez was livid, but Hazard will be the one getting a major fine and suspension for this one when it's all done...

THURSDAY UPDATE: Apparently, Hazard won't face any criminal charges for the incident. But the Football Association is reviewing the whole thing...

Hazard told Chelsea TV: "The boy put his whole body onto the ball and I was just trying to kick the ball and I think I kicked the ball and not the boy. I apologise.
"The ballboy came in the changing room and we had a quick chat and I apologised and the boy apologised as well, and it is over. Sorry."

"I think the FA has got to look into it. Irrespective of him having a yellow card he should be banned for a long, long time. It's the most dangerous thing I've seen on a football field for many, many years.
"(It was) absolutely deliberate. the whistle's gone, the game has stopped and he's done that a foot from the player. He could have killed the lad - it's a disgraceful act and he should be banned for a long, long time."
Williams sluffed it off and Swans boss Michael Laudrup hasn't even been quoted at present. But pay attention to any rematches down the line- regardless of level of competition...
Swansea grabbed a key point in the standings and trimmed the Reds lead over ManCity to four points in the Prem table...

Swansea Continues Arsenal Road Troubles
Responding to a game-tying goal by Arsenal's Theo Walcott, Swansea's Danny Graham beat Wojciech Szczesny less than a minute later to give the new addition to the Premier League a shocking 3-2 win at Liberty Stadium.
Van Persie scored for Arsenal in the 5th minute for the lead, but the Swans had answers at every turn. Scott Sinclair netted a PK 11 minutes later and then Nathan Dyer had his turn.

Combined Newcastle's win over QPR with this loss, and Arsenal are now tied for fifth in the standings. Swansea are now 10th- squarely in the middle of the pile.
