First, let's go with the good... well, "good" if you're a fan of Texas A&M-Commerce
98 points, 986 yards of total offense and a 78-point win over East Texas Baptist
Here's the short version...
Not surprisingly, the 986 yards is an NCAA Division II record for total offense. They also set Lone Star Conference records for points scored with 98, tied the touchdown record with 13, broke the record for the most point after attempts with 13 and tied the record with 11 PATs made. A&M-Commerce set a record for most points in a half with 57.
On the flip side, NCAA DII South Atlantic Conference power Tusculum allowed (or "didn't allow?") minus-100 total yards and minus-124 yards rushing to set the NCAA single-game records in a 71-0 victory over the College of Faith.
Here's what Tusculum thought about the match-up before the game
((HT: Tusculum Athletics))
The previous record was minus-69, by Division II school Fort Valley State against Miles in 1993. The previous record for fewest yards rushing allowed was minus-112, by Division III program Coast Guard against Wesleyan (Connecticut) in 1989.
Tusculum beat Faith last year 63-0 and here's the Frankie DeBusk show from that week

West Virginia Outlasts Baylor In Morgantown, Creates Both Records And Headaches
((HT: KWTX-TV, Waco))
Let's face it...
The whole experience reminded us of one of two things...
Either video games or Arena Football... both apply all over the place...
133 points, 19 touchdowns and absolutely no defense whatsoever...
Geno Smith went 45-for-51 for 656 yards and 8TD's while Nick Florence went 29-for-47 for 581 yards and 5 TD's.
The game also set a record for the most points scored involving a team ranked in The Associated Press poll. The previous mark of 124 was set in 1980 when No. 12 Oklahoma beat Colorado 82-42. West Virginia picked up a school-record 807 yards, and the teams combined for 1,507 yards of offense and 67 first downs. Six receivers had at least 100 yards receiving.
Shall we keep going...???
The Bears' Terrance Williams set a Big 12 record with 314 yards receiving. The old mark was by West Virginia's Stedman Bailey, who had 303 yards and a school-record five TDs.
And the only reason Bailey didn't keep it in the first place was that Williams got the last possession...
The 19 touchdowns tied a D1 record from 2007 when Navy beat North Texas 74-62. That game was the old record for points in a regulation game at 136.
Baylor also tied a D1 mark for the most points scored by a losing team...
Got all that...???
Ricardo Lecompte tries to condense the whole story to 2:10
"Not every Big 12 game is like this," West Virginia head coach Dana Holgorsen said in the post-game presser.
Whaddya mean it's not...???

ODU QB Throws For D1 Record 730 Yards
((HT: WAVY-TV))
The HQ continues to marvel at OSG High graduate, Collins Hill (GA) High's Taylor Heinecke...
All he did this week was throw for an NCAA Division I record 730 yards in a come-from-behind, 64-61 win against top 20 team New Hampshire... but it still took a Jarod Brown chip shot field goal and a last-second pick to seal it.
His passing numbers were just one yard less than the overall record of 731 set by D3 Menlo (CA) College's Zamir Amin against Cal Lutheran in 2000. The old Division I record of 716 yards was by Houston's David Klingler in 1990 against Arizona State. The D I-AA/FCS record was 624 set by Weber State's Jamie Martin against Idaho State in 1991.
Got all that...??? There'll be a test later on...
Heinecke also ran the ball 11 times for 61 yards. So, that means the 791 yards of total offense beats the 732 by David Klingler in that same game in 1990, and the I-AA/FCS record was 668 total yards by Robert Kent of Jackson State against Alabama in 2001.
Until today...
Here's the highlights... The HQ thinks it's the short version...
