The HQ thinks that Team USA keeper Tim Howard should not have to buy another drink in this country for the rest of his natural born life and should IMMEDIATELY be given the Congressional Medal of Honor
Here's all of his saves put back-to-back and Ian Darke gets to yell a lot, too...

Welcome Back, ManRam!
((HT: MiLB.com))
There's all this talk that Manny Ramirez is just down on the farm to help the young kids and get them ready for the big-league Cubs while he's down in Iowa...
But, after this stroke, the HQ isn't so sure...
September...??? Call-ups...???
40-Man roster...???
Yeah, the HQ thinks it'll go down...

When Mother Nature Doesn't Care About Your Baseball Game

The line of storms that has put a lot of the upper Midwest under water the last two days caused some serious issues in Cedar Rapids, Iowa at the Kernels Midwest League game Monday against the Clinton Lumber Kings.
Members of the Kernels staff were injured when 80-mile-per-hour winds blew the tarp over them as they tried to pull it over the infield. The injuries included three concussions and assistant General Manager Scott Wilson dislocated his left shoulder.
Here's the video of when the storm showed up 10 minutes early...

Wild Day At Wimbledon: Nadal, Sharapova, And The Williams Sisters Gone
((HT: Wimbledon/Shane B's Vine))
First, Maria Sharapova got bumped out in three sets by Angeline Kerber. The 19-year-old Aussie Nick Kyrgios has taken another huge, ranked player down in Rafa Nadal.
After saving 9 match points in his win over Richard Gasquet, Kyrgios took out the 2-time champ in four sets: 7-6 (7-5), 5-7, 7-6 (7-5), 6-3. He hit 37 aces and he's the first to get to the quarters in his tourney debut in a decade.
Obviously, Kyrgios, the 144th-ranked player in the world won't forget this moment at the All England Club
And, then, a very wobbly Venus Williams was encouraged to withdraw her sister-pairing in women's doubles
Evidence below
She was diagnosed with a viral illness.

ICYMI: Aaron Hernandez Shows Up In UF Football Calendar
((ht: deadspin.com))So, if you are a University of Florida die-hard football fan, there's a really good chance you have a copy of the 2014 Calendar.
And if you just flipped that calendar over to the month of July, you might be mildly surprised (unless you read the headline) as to who your "Player of the Month" is.
It's none other than a former tight end/NFL star, now facing double murder charges.
Yes, it's Mr. Aaron Hernandez...
For their part, the folks in Gainesville said this is legit. The schools PR Folks telling Deadspin that these were put together far in advance. Before Hernandez was arrested.
So there's that.
You can read the Deadspin story RIGHT HERE
No, we aren't hating on the Gators Florida fans....it's nobody's fault this happened, it's just being pointed out. We fully realize this was done way ahead of time and no, Hernandez allegedly was not "officially" in trouble at the point this was produced.
It just looks kinda awkward....but hey, what can ya do? Go track down 10,000 calendars after they are printed?

It's Official, Maryland & Rutgers Have Gone Big
July
1st is the first day of the new 14 team Big Ten Conference. Maryland and Rutgers officially join the Big Ten today and they are now thinking big.
So let the pomp and circumstance begin.
The
celebrations in College Park, Maryland and New Jersey are mere formalities. The big goal was to distribute the Big Ten
Network in New Jersey and Maryland and that has been accomplished.
The
Big Ten Conference’s expansion into the east coast was all about TV
markets. With the deal the Big Ten Network struck with Time Warner and Cablevision in May and with Comcast lastweek BTN added more homes in the coveted New York/New Jersey and Washington D.C. market.
Big
Ten Commissioner Jim Delany told ESPN: “It indicates that the Eastern
initiative is moving forward in the direction we hoped it would,”
“Our
goal was to achieve distribution in New York and D.C., Maryland and New
Jersey.” Delaney added.
Mission
accomplished.
