Drake Fined For Remarks On Kevin Durant, Tim and Sid Disagree

((HT: Sportsnet))

Drake is on a bit of a roll as an ambassador for the Toronto Raptors...

And he's trying to get anyone of the big names in the NBA to come to the T-Dot for their next contract...

At a concert he wanted to bring Kevin Durant to the Raptors and, upon hearing this, the NBA fined the team $25,000.

Tim and Sid disagreed with the assessment

Terry Fox Would Have Been 56 Today

((HT: ESPN))

Full disclosure...

The HQ is involved in the Terry Fox Foundation and its efforts to aid in cancer research and, hopefully, a cure somewhere down the road.

If you don't know his story and the impact he has had in his home country, then we would ask you watch this "30 for 30" project that Steve Nash was part in. Here's Part One of "Into The Wind":

FOSG James Cybulski did a story with then-Raptors coach Jay Triano a few years ago to talk about his relationship with Fox and someone Terry thought was someone very special.

We don't encourage those who follow us on a daily basis to follow what we follow unless you want to do so.
We would just ask that if you have causes that matter to you to hang on to them and never give them up.

Raptors G.M Says !#%& Brooklyn Before Raptors-Nets Game (Video)

Okay, this is being a bit trivial and isn't something nobody's ever said about an opponent before.

But this time it's a General Manager...and unfortunately for Toronto Raptors GM Masai Ujiri, he uttered a profane statement towards the Brooklyn Nets at a pep rally in front of a fired up crowd of Raptors fans prior to the start of their 1st Round Eastern Conference NBA Game.

And yes, Ujiri used the "F-Word" a word some people use quite frequently. But not often as an executive while performing in their role as an executive.

((Side Note--We wouldn't recommend talking TOO much smack to Brooklyn-ites...just sayin'))

In the grand scheme of things, no this probably isn't a big deal, rather it just illustrates the "Be Careful What You Say" in public rule that most high profile people need to think about.

**Note** At halftime of Saturday's game, Ujiri apologized saying "You know how I feel, I don't like them, but I apologize"

Here's Instagram Video of Ujiri (NSFW) from steve_classic

Raptors Really Like Their New Poster

((HT: Sportsnet/NBA))

Toronto beat Denver tonight by 10, 100-90, but one dunk in particular got the attention of the Raptor bench...

This one by Terrence Ross over Kenneth Faried

And, now, you know the rest of the story...

Slip Sliding Away: Bucks-Raptors Cancelled Due To Unsafe Court

((HT: NBA))

The new floor for the Milwaukee Bucks might have too much wax on it or something...

The Bucks-Raptors game was cancelled after a bunch of players hit the floor in a negative, non-fouling manner...

Here's the look at the slipperiness...

Head ref Danny Crawford said he and the other officials determined the floor was unplayable.

“We kept making eye contact out there and we saw the players were having issues with traction,” Crawford said, in an interview with a pool reporter. “Then when we had a few guys go down, we figured we should have a conference. And both teams wanted not to continue the game.”

Out For The Year: The Toronto Raptors Mascot

((ht: thebiglead.com))

We aren't exactly sure if this is a harbinger for the Toronto Raptors season or not.

But...the Toronto Raptors are mourning the loss of their beloved Chicken/Raptor inflatable mascot for the upcoming basketball season.

You see, Mr. Chicken/Raptor appears to have blown out his achilles tendon after Wednesday nights Raptors/Timberwolves exhibition game.

Mr. Chicken/Raptor is widely known, particularly in Canadian circles for his signature move--the devouring of a random referee or cheerleader.

No word if the Raptors have promoted anyone from the minor league Mascot squad to replace him.

For those wondering how a mascot eating a person can be entertaining live (we were too)---here's some video:

Report: Nuggets Fire George Karl

((ht: @WojYahooNBA))

So much for winning NBA Coach of the Year.

According to a report by Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports, the Denver Nuggets have decided to part ways with now former head coach George Karl.

Wojnarowski says Karl was seeking an extension of his contract, which had one year left on it.

Karl coached a talented Denver team to a 3rd seed in this years Western Conference playoffs, but the Nuggets were eliminated by Golden State. The team played very well during his 8-year
tenure, but never was able to get very far in the playoffs.

Oh, Denver's G.M Masai Ujiri just left the team to take over the Toronto Raptors last week.

Speculation has already begun that Karl may end up in Los Angeles as coach of the Clippers.

Rudy Gay Vs. Wale- Not Quite Spike And Reggie

((HT: Sportsnet/BeyondTheBuzzer))

Rudy Gay seemed to be in mid-conversation with rapper Wale for most of their game this evening...

But to be involved with both Gay and the broadcast crew takes some doing- and some effort in search and destroy...

The HQ gives Wale credit for his intuitiveness, but there's a time and place...
And there is no way that Gay and Wale are anywhere close to this...

ICYMI: Ref tries blocking Kris Humphries free throw

Oh, there are so many jokes that could work here.

Possibly the weeks best video highlight happened last night in the Brooklyn Nets/Toronto Raptors game.

That's when Nets forward, and former Mr. Kim Kardashian, Kris Humphries was about to attempt a free-throw. But, referee Courtney Kirkland had waived in a player waiting to check in at the scorers table. And according to the rules, Humphries had to wait for his shot.

So Kirkland, seeing Humphries about to shoot, pounced, rejecting the shot and making him wait. And yeah, as you can imagine, the Kardashian jokes have been flying ever since.

Here is your video from last night:

Day 1: Marathon Of Hope, 32 Years Later

((HT: TSN/youtube))

Today is one of the most important days in Canadian history...

32 years ago today, Terry Fox dipped his running shoe in the waters of the north Atlantic Ocean and started his "Marathon of Hope."

FOSG James Cybulski caught up with Toronto Raptors head coach Jay Triano and discovered the relationship the two started at Simon Fraser University- and how it impacts Triano to this day...
