Brittney Griner can play basketball...
That is not in dispute...
She rebounded from her 2-for-11 performance in Game 1 of the Western Conference semis against Los Angeles to go 9-for-9 and set a playoff record for success from the floor...
Griner also can dunk the basketball...
Check out what she did yesterday as her most recent example...

DEVELOPING: Lob City Embarrassing Philly
((HT: CSNPhilly))
It was a 30-point margin after one quarter Sunday night in Los Angeles...
Jamal Crawford had the chance to get the lead to 50 in the third quarter...
But there was the standard amount of lobbing, street ball, and dunking...
Which was fun to watch...
Unless you were a Sixer...

Raptors Really Like Their New Poster
((HT: Sportsnet/NBA))
Toronto beat Denver tonight by 10, 100-90, but one dunk in particular got the attention of the Raptor bench...
This one by Terrence Ross over Kenneth Faried
And, now, you know the rest of the story...

OSG High: Nubian Spann Shatters A Backboard
((HT: WRALSportsfan.com))
Panther Creek (NC) Catamount senior Nubian Spann catches an alley-oop from Juan Munoz and shatters one of his home gym backboards in a game against Apex High Friday night...
And it came out clean...
According to Zach Mayo from HSOT, via his Twitter, what makes this even cooler was that the dunk was Spann's first in-game dunk...
The game had to be rescheduled...
No surprise...

Your High School Backboard Breaking Dunk of the Day
((ht: bleacherreport.com))
Whoa!
Check out what happens when Kyle Gouveia a senior at Calaveras High School in San Andreas, California does to a rim and backboard when he suddenly finds himself with an unobstructed path to the basket.
Boom goes the Dynamite...and the backboard...

Nets Mascot Airballs A Dunk
((HT: NBA))
There is no explanation for this...
Just watch...
The HQ wonders if this is some kind of precursor for doom this year or not...

Some Summer Pool Fun For You...
((HT: Hunter Shea))
While it's not dunking in the purest sense, think of it more like Blake Griffin around a backboard near a pool...
Or if Dude Perfect were unleashed...
Still a lot of cool shots for your weekend in and around a swimming pool...

Griner Dunks Twice, Delle Donne Wins...
((HT: WNBA on ESPN))
It was one of the more anticipated match-ups in the debut of the 2013 WNBA season with Chicago and Phoenix...
No, not because it was Chicago and Phoenix, but because it was Elena Delle Donne and Brittney Griner...
Griner gets history, but Delle Donne gets the win...
See if you can guess the voice calling the highlights...

A Really Bad Miami Hurricanes Video For Graduating Seniors
((HT: CBS Sports/Norlander))
Another group of kids got to add the word "graduate" to their names at the University of Miami this past weekend...
And as part of the frivolity, the basketball teams and Sebastian the Ibis got involved...
Watch at your own risk...
The HQ only made it through about 90 seconds before being scared...
We didn't know President Shalala had hops...
And, frankly, we didn't want to know...

Griner Goes For 50, Dunks In Home Finale
((HT: Baylor Athletics))
There's the way you wanna go out...
Home finale... new conference record... and the 14th dunk of your college career...
Baylor's Brittney Griner took a piece out of Kansas State in Waco last night- actually several pieces...
The 90-68 win puts the Bears in prime position with another undefeated conference schedule and knocking themselves into the favorite to win it all again come early April...
Here's the highlights of the game...
Griner dunks at the :40 mark...

WOW! Awesome Pass to Yourself Dunk
((ht: cbssports.com))
Whoa! Really, that's about the best way to describe an absolutely incredible dunk by Jamaal Franklin of San Diego State.
Franklin flies down court on a Fast Break against Fresno State, tosses the ball off the backboard, then catches it and throws it down for the dunk.
Nice...
Oh, by the way, The Aztecs won Wednesday nights game, 65-62.

Griner Does It Again...
This time it was against Georgia Tech in a Sweet 16 match-up and it looked nothing like one of those Blake Griffin throwdowns that people call "dunks."
Evidence Below...
((HT: ESPN/NCAA/BaylorVisionMedia))
So, the HQ will now add "one" to every number posted in the previous Griner-Dunk story from earlier in the tournament...

Yes, Blake Griffin has the dunk of the year..so far
((ht: nba.com))
Yeah, we know. We've seen it. We've been awake about 45 minutes and have already seen it 5-times on SportsCenter and another half-dozen or so posts here on the Internets.
In case you missed it, last night, Blake Griffin of the LA Clippers did the ultimate facial dunk on Oklahoma City's Kendrick Perkins.
And yeah, sure, it was pretty impressive. Though we certainly enjoy Mr. Griffin and his ever widening repertoire of dunks, we suspect this isn't the "Be-all, end-all, never to be repeated, greatest dunk ever" as it is being made out to be.
Sorry for the cynicism...
Thanks NBA.com for the video:
