Jeff Was The Best In The Teague Last Night
((HT: NBA))
The Hawks and Cavs kept Jay and Dan from being seen in the southeast for a while last night since they went to overtime...

Atlanta Hawks fans have been clinging to the development of Teague since his drafting by the front office...
In the 127-125 2OT thriller, Kyrie Irving finished with 40 to lead all scorers and Teague scored a carer-high 34 and 14 assists- knocking down not only the game-winner, but the jumper that sent the game into the second overtime.

Puck Into Pants= Game-Winning Own Goal
((HT: NHL))
Okay...
Goal or not a goal...
Apparently, in the eyes of the league...
It's a goal... and it gave Buffalo a win over Phoenix...
At 3:47 of overtime in the Coyotes/Sabres game, video review supported the referee's call on the ice that Mark Pysyk's shot deflected into the air and landed in goaltender Mike Smith's equipment and, while attempting to make the save, Smith's momentum propelled him and the puck completely across the goal line. Good goal Buffalo.
And the goalie for the Coyotes, Mike Smith, wasn't happy...
Joe Yerdon from Pro Hockey Talk via his own Twitter:
"It's an honest game and if you don't play how you're supposed to play... you get it jammed right up your butt."
And from John Vogl of the Buffalo News via his Twitter:
"I guess if they don’t see the puck they’re supposed to blow the whistle, but that’s not what happened."
But Rule 85.3 says: "Should a scramble take place or a player accidentally fall on the puck and the puck be out of sight of the Referee… he shall immediately blow his whistle and stop the play."
And it didn't happen in this case...
The HQ doesn't think this is the last we'll hear of this, either...

Tuukka Rask Does Not Like His Tools
And, as we all know, a good craftsman never blames them when it goes wrong...
They just get destroyed...
Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask has done it before and he did it again last night after losing in a shootout to the St. Louis Blues
It's not the first time...
Did we mention, it's not the first time...???

OSG High: Double Reverse Wins High School Football Game At The Gun
HT: Deseret News
The play "Ace Flipper Option" might go down along with "65 Toss Power Trap" as one of the best play calls in football.
At least on the high school level.
With time winding down in a Utah Class 4A high school football playoff game, Olympus High School (Salt Lake City, UT) broke out the "Ace Flipper Option" or a double reverse.
The result was Coleman Meier taking it in the end zone for the game winner.
(Thanks MaxPreps)
With that touchdown Olympus won their playoff game with Springville 43-37.
“We practice it all the time and it just worked perfectly,” Meier told the Deseret News. “I just saw the end zone and went for it as hard as I could. ... It was a team effort and it feels amazing.”

“I called it just hoping we’d get into field goal range because we had another timeout, but I admit that I was sort of (freaking out) right after it was called,” Olympus head coach Aaron Whitehead told the Deseret News. “But when you get the ball in (Meier’s) and (Haller’s) hands, great things happen.
"When Meier crossed the goaline, it was like Christmas.”
Merry Christmas coach Whitehead, your call won the game.

Captain America Saves The Day Again...Pats Radio Explodes...
((HT: NFL on FOX))
All the Patriots had to do was go 70 yards in 63 seconds for the lead and, eventually, the win...
But the call of the day doesn't go to Thom Brennaman...
It goes to Bob Socci and Scott Zolak on Patriots radio... Zolak evoked memories of everything from Chris Kluwe and Clara Peller...
Listen to the call here...
Oh, Clara Peller...???
Now do you remember...???
But it will be an interesting week to see how the Pats deal with the losses of Aqib Talib and Danny Amendola...

ICYMI: Carlos Gomez Robs Joey Votto Of A Home Run To End The Game, Reaction From Reds Mgr, Dusty Baker
This was a great catch by the Brewers Carlos Gomez denying Cincinnati's Joey Votto a
And here's Gomez after the game.
"Any time Votto hits a ball up in the air like that, you're not sure. The ball carries well here, as we know," Brewers manager Ron Roenicke. "Even when 'Gomey' got to the wall, I couldn't get a good feeling for it. I was hoping it wasn't too far."
Here's Red's manager Dusty Baker's reaction:
When Votto reached second base he wanted the umpire to confirm Gomez had the ball. Gomez did.

"I thought off the bat it was going to be a non-catch," Votto said. "He went up and made pretty big play in the game. I just wanted to confirm that he had it."
"It was kind of a random way to end the game." Votto said. "In all likelihood it was going to put us up. It would be a homer -- an actual homer over the fence. Then to have the center fielder take it away from you -- one I'm ironically going to play beside at the All-Star Game -- the whole thing is kind of a random occurrence.

A Walk-Off Sunday In Baseball
Love it when a baseball games ends with the final at bat. It happened twice this Sunday.
First in Arlington, Texas where the Rangers Adrian Beltre was a hero.
The 4-3 Texas win gave the Rangers a weekend sweep of the American East leading Boston Red Sox.
Meanwhile hundreds of miles north in Kansas City the surprising Royals waited until the 10th inning
for their heroics and Alex Gordon delivered.
The Royals are now17-10 seven games over .500 for the first time since May 7, 2009.
