Nebraska Lineman's Ass Blocks Punt

There are no words that can describe this blocked punt.  Let the pictures do the talking.

That's right.  Sam Foltz's fumbles the snap from Nebraska long snapper Josh Faulkenberry throwing off the timing.  Then when Foltz tries to boot it he does right into the backside of 6-5, 305 pound teammate Zach Hannon.

Iowa's Drew Ott scooped up the blocked punt and ran it in for a touchdown.

Another oddity in the Heartland rivalry of Nebraska and Iowa.

5 Top 25's Go Down In One Night...

It was not a night to be a ranked team in the world of college hoops...

Indiana fans wore hard hats at Assembly Hall as Indiana took care of 20th ranked Iowa 93-86
Will Sheehey scored a career-high 30
((HT: BTN))

And Penn State swept Ohio State with their win over the Buckeyes 65-63... and they stormed the court...
Surprising no one...
((HT: BTN))

Arkansas also got their season sweep over Kentucky with their overtime win IN LEXINGTON!!!

Which, the HQ is sure, has sent the entire Big Blue nation into some kind of histrionics
((HT: SEC on ESPN))
Houston's Danuel House scored 19 off the bench as the Cougars knocked off #21 Memphis 77-68 Mark Followill and Chris Walker discuss ((HT: CBS Sports Network))
And, finally, St. Louis' 19-game winning streak came to a screeching halt with their loss to Duquesne...
It was Duquesne's first over a Top 10 team since a 72-68 win over #9 Xavier on February 7, 2009, and it was DU's first road win over a Top 10 team since a 73-72 win at #6 Bradley on March 5, 1962...

McCaffrey Apologizes For Epic Nutty

((HT: ESPN/Katz))

Let's start by showing you what went down in the loss to Wisconsin...

He officially apologized and AD Gary Barta came out with a prepared statement...

"I've met with Coach McCaffery regarding last night's ejection from the game in Madison. He knows he crossed a line of acceptable behavior and accepts responsibility for his actions.

"All staff at the University of Iowa fully support the Big Ten Conference's sportsmanship policy's fundamental elements, including civility and respect toward opponents and game officials. Fran has my full support moving forward."

McCaffrey talked to Andy Katz:

"There were a couple of calls there that I had taken exception to and felt like 'I gotta change this thing a little bit.' I got the T. The thing that I regret was getting the second T. I didn't want to get the second T. It was not my intention and it impacted the game in a way that wasn't good for our team.

"Anytime a coach does something like that, you feel horrible about it because you don't ever want to do anything other than to help your team win a game. I felt like we needed a shift -- we needed something to change -- and my intention was to do that but not get the second T. I feel terrible about that."

So, Why Does Kirk Ferentz Still Have A Job...???

((HT: WHO-TV))

Because he has a four-million dollar per year deal that has him coaching through 2020

Kirk Ferentz has a contract through January 31, 2020, that pays him between $1.87M and $2.07M per season in base salary, plus another $1.48M per season in "recurring supplemental payments."

He also gets a "longevity bonus" which requires Iowa AD Gary Barta pay him between $325,000 and $575,000 on an escalating scale throughout the balance of his deal...

In the year 2020...

The buyout clause in Kirk Ferentz's contract mandates that Barta pay him 75% of his base salary if he is terminated without cause- $219,142 per month until the contract ends in January 2020.

He is the state's highest paid employee, making $1.4 million more than the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics director Jean Robillard.

Oh, Iowa lost to Northern Illinois yesterday...
Here's the highlights...

So, why is Kirk Ferentz still employed...???

He's too expensive to fire...

Okay, Kirk Ferentz: Now What...??? Central Michigan Takes Out Iowa

((HT: cfbsection/Big Lead Sports))

Okay, fans...

Just how hot is the seat under Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz after what happened with three seconds left in regulation AT KINNICK STADIUM...

Here's the kick, from the Big Ten Network...

David Harman kicked a 47-yard field goal with 3 seconds left to lead Central Michigan past Iowa 32-31. The Hawkeyes had a 31-23 lead, but the Chippewas scored a touchdown with 45 seconds left, recovered the ensuing onside kick, and Harman kicked the field goal.

The Hawkeyes are now 2-2 entering Big Ten play.

That's a boatload of "oops" right now...

TWTW: The Ones Where We Don't Know What To Think- Iowa State, South Florida, Rice

((HT: WHO-TV Des Moines))

The Cy-Hawk game, itself, was astronomically painful- a 9-6 final...
The HQ doesn't know if this is an upset, or just bad football...

The South Florida game was an interesting match-up with Nevada in Reno...
Cody Fajardo was 27-for-38 for 271 yards, but it took a last-second TD pass by the Bulls to steal the win at Chris Ault Field...

Are both teams good and just needed the full 60 minutes to figure out a winner, or are we just fooling ourselves...???
((HT: MyNews4.com Reno))

This next one, the HQ just likes to get a good belly laugh about it...
Rice kicked a last-second field goal to beat Kansas in Lawrence...
Here's the highlights...
((HT: FoxSports))

And here's Charlie Weis talking about it... more laughter...

TWTW: Saturday's Close Calls- Maryland, Wisconsin, Iowa

((HT: ACC Digital Network))

FOSG Scott Singer almost had one yesterday as William and Mary was close to sending Randy Edsall's new toy into a continued tailspin...

Maryland escaped 7-6...
Here's the lowlights...

Northern Iowa went to Madison and picked up a $450,000 check- and almost got out with a win... 26-21 was the final as Wisconsin survived...
((HT: KCRG-TV Cedar Rapids))
Chris Earl has the highlights of the last close call (naturally, in the Big 10/12) as Northern Illinois lost 18-17... Damon Bullock scored with 2:15 to go for the win... ((HT: KCRG-TV again))

TWTW: Upsets And People Just Upset... Alabama, LSU, Nebraska, Michigan, UCLA, Louisville...

Hey... did you know that there was a football game in Tuscaloosa Saturday night...???

Apparently, it was the lowest scoring game between the top-two ranked teams since the immortal tie between Army and Notre Dame back in 1946...

Don Hawes and Chris Pollone stayed up way past bedtime...
((HT: Alabamas13.com/WVTM-TV))

Whaddya wanna bet Saban Claus will be auditioning kickers this week...???

Hey... Northwestern led in LINCOLN for the whole game and won against Nebraska...
It's the sport of kings... better than diamond rings...

Football...
Maybe the Iowa Hawkeyes should play ranked teams more often...
Michigan had issues in losing in Iowa City...
((HT: WHO-TV Des Moines))

Nice goal-line stand, you...

Rick Neuheisel officially threw a big wrench into the Pac-10/12's southern division monkey with a 29-28 upset win over Arizona State in the Arroyo Seco...

Remember, USC can't go to the title game because they were bad boys. That meant it looked like Arizona State was in line to play Oregon until...

Well, until...

How 'bout Louisville and their upset of WBGV...
Blocked kicks returned for scores will help out in that regard...
