For those of you who don't remember...
This happened 12 years ago today...
Each year, the Oklahoma State family remembers and celebrates the lives of Kendall Durfey, Bjorn Fahlstrom, Nate Fleming, Will Hancock, Daniel Lawson, Brian Luinstra, Denver Mills, Pat Noyes, Bill Teegens and Jared Weiberg...
And the OSU community remembers them every year...
This was the 10th anniversary remembrance...
So, if you would... join the HQ in remembering the 10 today...

BUZZER BEATER: What A Finish In Stillwater, OK. Oklahoma State Barely Defeats Baylor On Last Second Lay Up
Maybe the best finish so far of this college basketball season took place at Gallagher Iba Arena in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
Michael Cobbins blocked a Baylor game winning attempt and then Markel Brown to the take in his hands and barely beat the clock.
Told you it was a great finish.
"I figured we had come too far to just give up a layup right there at the end," Cobbins said. "I just went up and tried to get it and thank God I got it."
"I was just trying to beat the clock, as fast as I can," Brown said.
Oklahoma State head coach Travis Ford loved how Markel Brown just took it to the cup.
"I was hoping he would get to the rim, because so many players pull up," Ford said. "So many players don't think they have enough time. But you've got more time than you think you do."
"I think everybody saw a great game for TV," Baylor head coach Scott Drew said. "You'll sleep better tonight than I will,"
That’s because Baylor lost it’s third straight game. OSU won it’s fourth straight game.
Oklahoma State won in spite of a terrible shooting night. The Cowboys were 26 of 72 from the field shooting 36 percent and only making 3 of 21three point attempts.
That kind of night will drive head coaches bonkers and Travis Ford is no exception.
"It was just a very gutsy performance by our guys," Ford said. "I thought they hung in there. We've figured out some crazy ways to win games lately."

Did The Big 12 Apologize To Mike Gundy Or Not...???
((HT: Newsok.com))
According to Gina Mizell, the Big 12 Conference has apologized to Oklahoma State head football coach Mike Gundy over the botched call at the end of the 41-36 loss to Texas Saturday.
But the 12/10 is saying that they have done no such thing...
The head of the 12/10's officials, Walt Anderson, “apologized profusely” and admitted to Gundy that Joe Bergeron fumbled before crossing the goal line and the game-winning touchdown should not have counted.
From Mizell:
The source said Anderson told Gundy the call was botched by head linesman Brad Edwards, who signaled touchdown too soon without proper view of the ball, which was fumbled before it broke the plane of the end zone. Edwards was originally positioned on the goal line on the UT sideline, then sprinted toward the pile and put his arms in the air. A second source added umpire Scott Teifer, who was watching the play from the end zone, also did not communicate properly with Edwards by telling him the ball was on the ground before it crossed the goal line.
But... and this is a big "but..."
The conference said, on its official Twitter feed, that no such apology has happened...
Here's the play in question:
((HT: CFB on FOX))
And here's the response from the 12/10:
Reports that the Big 12 acknowledged a blown call and issued an apology to Oklahoma State are inaccurate
Here's Mike Sherman leading a fancy-looking google chat looking thing...

TWTW: The Upsets Round One- Arizona, UCLA, Sacramento State, North Dakota State
((HT: newsok.com))
By the oklahoma State coaching staff's own admission, it was a poor night of everything- too many penalties (school record) and four turnovers for starters...
And very few people would have thought the 'Pokes would have given up 59 points to Rich Rod...
Berry Tramel and Gina Mizell discuss...
UCLA made its point to be inside the Top 15 (really) under new head coach Jim Mora with their back-and-forth game that ended up in the upset of Nebraska... Gus and Charles Davis discuss... ((HT: Fox Sports)) And, there's a battle in the state of Colorado to determine which team is the worst in the state- Colorado or Colorado State... The Rams did their part in contributing in their 22-7 loss to I-AA North Dakota State... ((HT: valleynewslive.com)) Valley News Live - KVLY/KXJB - Fargo/Grand Forks Colorado State coaches and players, naturally, were less than pleased... Monday late Bowl games: Kickers gag and Kickers win
Because we know that you want to know what happened in the rest of Monday's bowl games.
They were decided by kickers.
Well, actually the Rose Bowl wasn't...
First: Georgia gags, Spartans win...in 3 overtimes.
The Georgia Bulldogs raced out to a 16-point lead in the first half before Michigan State knew what hit them. Brandon Boykin single handedly running away from the Spartans, causing a safety on Michigan State's 1st play, returning a punt 92-yards for a TD and later, in the 4th quarter, catching a TD pass.
They must have figured it out at halftime because they came back, scored late bringing the 2012 Outback Bowl to overtime tied...at 27.
The first overtime could have done it. Georgia's Baccari Rambo intercepted a Kirk Cousins pass, the Bulldogs ran 1 play before setting up for a potential game-winner from kicker Blair Walsh.
Walsh missed.
After overtime 2 gave us back-to-back field goals, Michigan State led off OT-3 with a 28-yard Dan Conroy kick. Georgia got the ball back, lost 4 yards in 2 plays and trotted Walsh out to try a 47-yarder, well within his range.
It was blocked.
Game over, Michigan State wins 33-30.
All we were able to find...that we could embed were some Michigan State end of the game highlights.
So dig it:
And then there was the Grandaddy of them all...or the game that ESPN has bought every aspect of. The Rose Bowl featured Oregon and Wisconsin and had the clock not run out, we are pretty sure they'd still be scoring.
Oregon won 45-38, they had 621 total yards, but didn't seal the deal until late in the 4th quarter, when Wisconsin WR Jared Abbrederis fumbled the ball after making a catch near the sidelines.
Well, actually they didn't seal it until Wisconsin tried spiking the ball after time expired...but you get what we are saying...don't you?
KVAL-TV in Eugene, Oregon gives us the team coverage..and eventually the highlights:
And lastly, the BCS consolation game, the Fiesta Bowl, featuring Stanford and Oklahoma State.
And again, it was a shootout. Andrew Luck of Stanford vs. Brandon Weeden of Okie State. The advantage went to the Cowboys, but it was close.
We also want to mention this stat: Okie State averaged 97.4 seconds on each of it's TD drives (thanks Andy Staples of SI for pointing this out).
The Cowboys get the win after Stanford kicker Jordan Williamson missed a chip-shot field goal at the end of the game and again in the 1st overtime. Oklahoma State kicker Quinn Sharp, he didn't miss his chance as the Cowboys win 41-38 in OT.
There were tons of arguments Oklahoma State should have been facing LSU instead of Alabama. We don't dispute them. Though we will say as much as we'd like to have seen that, we question if Oklahoma State could stop anyone.
But that is a debate for another day.

Should Oke State Review Their Travel Policy...???
((HT: newsok.com/Ellis))
That's the question that Randy Ellis of NewsOk is raising since it's another plane crash involving Cowboys personnel in, just under, an 11-year period...
Here's the OSU presser after the deaths of Coaches Budke and Serna were announced to the team in Stillwater...
From Ellis:
The airplane that crashed Thursday killing four people near Perryville, Ark., was a single-engine Piper that would not meet the OSU team travel policy's minimum requirement for aircraft to be “powered by two or more turbine engines.”
Gary Shutt, OSU spokesman, said university officials assert the airplane wasn't required to meet that standard because it was a recruiting trip and no student athletes were on board.
“The team travel policy only applies to team travel,” Shutt said. “The coaches, if they're doing other types of travel, like recruiting, it does not fall under that policy.”
Weather has been ruled out in the crash that also took the lives of former Oklahoma state senator Olin Branstetter and his wife, Paula.

Oklahoma St. Women's B-Ball coaches killed in crash
![]() |
| Kurt Budke |
**UPDATE** at bottom of this story.
A horrible story to report this morning. Oklahoma State women's basketball coach Kurt Budke and assistant Miranda Serna along with another passenger and a pilot were killed when their plane crashed in Perry County, Arkansas late Thursday night.
Newson6.com in Tulsa said they were flying in a Piper PA-28 Cherokee airplane.
According to Newsok.com, the coaches were on a recruiting trip.
Budke had been the head coach since 2005 and won 112 games while coaching in Stillwater. His teams made the NCAA tournament 3-times and also made 2 other post season appearance.
Read the entire story from Newsok.com RIGHT HERE
Budke leaves behind a wife and three kids, Serna, was a long-time assistant, she also coached in Stillwater the past seven years before coming over from Lousiana Tech with Budke.
Okie State President Burns Hargis released a statement saying: "The Oklahoma State family is devastated by this tragedy. Our hearts and prayers go out to the families of Kurt Budke, Miranda Serna and the other victims."
As do ours.
**UPDATE**--
The plane belonged to former Oklahoma State Senator Olin Branstetter and his wife Paula. It was not the 1st air tragedy for the Oklahoma State Athletic department. In 2001, one of the 3 planes the men's basketball team was flying in to a game in Colorado crashed.

TWTW: Texas Only Scores 5, Weeden Blows Up Tubs...
((HT: SI.com/FX))
Just when you thought that Texas was on its way back from whatver depth of hell they were in last year...
Here's how Texas can become so gawdawful ineffective on the road...
5 points in Columbia, really...???
And here's how a team coached by Tommy Tuberville can just absolutely roll over... wonder how long it'll take for his act to get stale...???
((HT: ESPN))
Brandon Weeden threw for 423 and 5 TD's as Oklahoma State won by 60...
ANd that takes a special kind of rollover to pull that off...
Thankfully, Brother Phil was only there for the first score while he was on assignment. He missed the following 65 points in Lubbock...

TWTW: Polar Opposites: Okie State outscores K-State
((ht: newsok.com))
You can easily say that Oklahoma State versus Kansas State ended up being the antithesis of the LSU/Alabama game.
No, it didn't feature what you could call the 2-best teams in College Football, though after outlasting K-State, Oklahoma State will now probably be the #2 in the land. What it did feature was 97 points and over 1,000 yards of total offense.
Okie State got the win, 52-45, but not before the Wildcats had the ball inside the Cowboys 10 yard line with 3 chances to tie the game at the end of the fourth quarter.
And while the Cowboy fans should be celebrating a dramatic win, we just don't see them as a title contender. It's great that you can score points in bunches against another conference team. But we can assure you, you won't do that against LSU. And your defense isn't good enough to stop them either.
The game featured 500 yards passing by Oklahoma St. QB Brandon Weeden and 3 TD runs and 1 TD pass by K-State QB Collin Klein. Cowboy WR Justin Blackmon also kicked in 13 catches for 205 yards.
The win sets up Oklahoma State to finish out the season pretty strong, however, they still have to get by Oklahoma, the 1st weekend in December and though the Sooners are pretty beat up, there is no guarantee that will be a win.

Kevin Durant: Flag Football star
((ht: newsok.com))
NBA Superstar Kevin Durant must be a little bored. Or at least restless. Why else would he show up on the Oklahoma State campus and play in an Intramural Flag Football game.
This all started after Durant Tweeted about looking for a Flag Football game saying he needed "To run around or something".
Shortly thereafter, one of Durant's followers tweeted he was looking for someone to help out in his on-campus game Monday night.
One Tweet led to another and low and behold, just after 10 p.m, Durant shows up for a game that as it turned out, would lead him to play for the campus Sigma Nu fraternity team.
Read the entire story RIGHT HERE
In case you are wondering, Durant played Quarterback and Defensive Back. His stat line: 4 TD's and 3 interceptions.
And just so you know. This is why Durant is so universally liked. He may be a multi-millionaire athletes but he seems way more grounded than most. We applaud him for this and enjoy the spontaneity. And we are quite sure the guys at Sigma Nu got a memory they'll never forget either.
Here is some video of one of Durant's TD's:

Nightowls Rejoice: Tulsa-OSU Finishes At 3:35
In the blessed AM...
After a three-hour weather delay, Oklahoma State beat Tulsa 59-33, but that's not the kicker in all of this...
The game was scheduled to start shortly after 9PM, but didn't kick off until 12:17AM central time ((1:17 Eastern time)) because of three hours' worth of lightning and strong storms.
The NCAA requires a 30-minute cushion to let lightning clear the area before starting the game, and the teams were almost ready to stop the game period, but went ahead and started and finished in front of a few thousand die-hards...
Which does raise the question about: When is too late actually too late...??? And when do you cancel for the sake of cancelling...???
We've seen the MLB folks know when to put in curfews, but should the NCAA put this stuff in play as well...???
Here's the wrap from our friends at newsok.com

OSU Denies Any Big 12/10/9 Shenanigans
((HT: KWTX-TV Waco, Newsok.com))
Mike Sherman's Open Mike blog at Newsok.com has the newest angle in all of this eventual Texas A&M moving to the Ess-E-Cee despite protestations of a school (probably Baylor) and possibly the addition of other schools in some nebulous lawsuit that has no bearing and wouldn't hold up in any court of law...
Oklahoma State's Gary Schutt released the following statement... since they played Arizona and he knew everyone was going to ask...
"Speculative reports using unnamed sources implying Oklahoma State University would join others in a lawsuit against the SEC and Texas A&M were incorrect."
Here's team coverage on Baylor's blocking of the whole deal- it's all about looking out for number one, yo...
And any news of a so-called "Group of 6" or "Gang of 6"- Baylor, Iowa State, Kansas, K-State, Missouri, and Texas Tech- is news to OU- according to Berry Tramel... since OU is supposedly the lynchpin of any movement that gets Baylor's "okay" after analysis including Texas A&M...
Got all that...???
Jenni Carlson talks to Travis Haney about Oklahoma's angle in all this...
And, oh by the way, Iowa State is retaining legal counsel on the off chance they think they'll need it...
