A Letter For Larry... By Loran Smith...

((HT: John Hart and Georgia Football/Vimeo))

FOSG John Hart alerted us to this... and if you don't open up after this one...

You're simply not human...

Loran Smith has helped the HQ out on a few books forwards and such...
And now, we're reminded why he and his friend, Larry Munson are missed on days like the one two weeks ago in Athens...

Told you you'd need tissues...

((H: MyFoxAtlanta))

In losing one of the voices of our youth in UGA play-by-play guy Larry Munson, the Bulldogs thought it would be a cool thing to have a memorial service between the hedges to celebrate what he meant ot the program...

BREAKING: Legendary UGA radio annoucer Larry Munson dies

((ht: ajc.com))
Larry Munson

Legendary voice of University of Georgia football, Larry Munson passed away Sunday night at the age of 89.

Munson, has had numerous health issues before his retirement after the 2007 season and afterwards, died from complications due to pneumonia according the the UGA Sports Information department.

Munson was one of the "Old-School" legends of Sports Broadcasting and was universally loved for his unique style, voice and cadence.

Perhaps his most famous call, the "Run-Lindsay-run" call in the 1980, Georgia/Florida game in Jacksonville, the play at the end of the game gave Georgia the win on their way to the 1980 National Champhionship.

We met and spoke to Munson on many occasions while covering Georgia football and he was always respectful and gracious. He was one of the few people that everyone in the Press Box turned, paid attention to and at least said hello to when he walked in.

To both the Munson and UGA family, we give the utmost in respects, Larry Munson was one of a kind, a kind that can never be replicated, impossible to be replaced and will always be missed.

R.I.P Larry Munson.

We give you Larry's most famous call: (Thanks CBSSports)

Here's an early story today from our friends at MyFoxAtlanta and WAGA-TV
We're fairly certain that FOSG Chip Zeller had his hands in this...
