Suarez "Lost His Balance" Uruguay And Chile Lost Their Games

((HT: ESPN/FIFA))

Luis Suarez wrote his appeal to FIFA for his four-month, nine-match ban. It said in part:

"After the impact ... I lost my balance, making my body unstable and falling on top of my opponent," Suarez wrote in his submission to the panel which met Wednesday, one day after Uruguay beat Italy 1-0 in a decisive group-stage match.

"At that moment I hit my face against the player leaving a small bruise on my cheek and a strong pain in my teeth."

Well okay, then...
FIFA has seven days to hear the appeal from the Uruguayan Football Federation.

Without Suarez, the lack of offense showed in a 2-0 loss where James Rodriguez scored both goals- and, for the record, it's pronounced "Hah-mez..." and he's scored in six straight matches for Colombia...

And James' golazo sent Colombia on their way

And Colombia get Brazil in the next round as they survived their match with Chile- and it took PK's to get there.
The post became Julio Cesar's bet friend in extra time and the shootout...

And American audiences got to hear Ian and Macca call a great one...

FIFA Says Suarez Banned, Uruguay Fed Plans Appeal

((HT: FIFA/ESPN))

Of course, they do...

For the record, here's FIFA's statement:

"The player Luis Suarez is to be suspended for nine official matches. The first match of this suspension is to be served in the upcoming [round of 16] FIFA World Cup fixture between Colombia and Uruguay.

"The remaining match suspensions shall be served in Uruguay's next FIFA World Cup matches, as long as the team qualifies, and/or in the representative team's subsequent official matches.

"The player is banned from taking part in any kind of football-related activity -- administrative, sports or any other -- for a period of four months. A stadium ban is pronounced against Luis Suarez, who is prohibited from entering the confines of any stadium during the period of the ban."

It would mean that in addition to his time in Rio, you can possibly adding missing nine Premier League games, Champions League and Capital One Cup matches before the end of October. This, of course, is if Suarez even gets to stay at Liverpool. The first time he bit another player he was booted from his Dutch side.

Uruguay FA President Wilmar Valdez is appealing and he has three days to get his defense together.

ESPN dispatched Wright Thompson to Montevideo for reaction. Max Bretos tracked him down

Just How Hard Should FIFA Come Down On Suarez...??/

((HT: ESPN/FIFA))

Luis Suarez says things like what happened today in the Uruguay-Italy match "happen..."

Sure they do...

"These are just things that happen out on the pitch," Suarez said. "It was just the two of us inside the area and he bumped into me with his shoulder, and that's how my eye got like this as well. There are things that happen on the pitch and you should not make such a big deal out of them."

The bitten in this case, Chiellini, thinks nothing will happen and he told Sky Sports Italia just as much:

"It's a disgrace. The referee decided this game. If either team should have gone through, then it was us.

"Giving a red card to Marchisio and no red to Suarez decided the game. There was a different treatment for both sides and that decided the game and decided who went through.

"When we had 11 men, they weren't a threat at all and we were in perfect control, but then in the end, [the red card] was decisive.

"But then Suarez gets away with whatever he wants because FIFA want the top players involved. He bit me, and the sign is there. Now [FIFA] have got to have the courage to take action."

The guys at ESPN discuss

Thoughts are coming down on Suarez that include everything from a lifetime ban (not just internationally) to expelling Uruguay from the knockout stage and giving their slot to the next man up in their Group.

What say you, faithful reader...??/

Uruguay's Advancement Overshadowed By Another Biting...???

((HT: ESPN/FIFA))

This is Group of Champions and it appears that Luis Suarez is a chump- again...

Costa Rica and Uruguay advance to the knockout stages leaving Italy and England behind. But the larger issue is the apparent taking a chunk out of Chiellini's shoulder by striker Luis Suarez.

80th minute- a minute before Godin's goal against 10-man Forza- Suarez is in the box and jostling..

This is the third incident like this with Suarez. He received a 10-match ban for biting Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic in 2013.
((HT: BPL))

Luis Suarez apologized at the time:

“I am deeply sorry for my inexcusable behaviour earlier today during our match against Chelsea.

“I have issued an apology and have tried to contact Branislav Ivanović to speak to him personally. I apologise also to my manager, playing colleagues and everyone at Liverpool Football Club for letting them down.”

In November 2010, Suárez, playing for Ajax Amsterdam, was suspended for seven games for biting PSV Eindhoven’s Otman Bakkal during a Dutch league game.
((HT: Football))

Suárez never played for Ajax again after the first biting incident; the club sold him to Liverpool during that winter’s January transfer window.

And the next question is: Does Suarez get suspended and do Uruguay keep him around for international play after...??/

And what does Liverpool do now...??? Pull the contract on the table...???

Brazil 2014: Is England Next Out...???

((HT: ESPN/FIFA/Sky Sports/Sportsnet))

The answer is prolly...

After Luis Suarez knocked off 5 teammates yesterday in his soccer debut after knee surgery. Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard says that the squad is "grasping at straws" if they think they'll make it to the knockout stages.

Here's how Suarez did it...

And England skipper Roy Hodgson is not gonna quit- although a lot of folks want his head...

FOSG James Sharman thinks that the big guns for England didn't show up...

OSG Prem: Looks Like It's Liverpool's To Lose...

((HT: NBCSN/BPL/BBC))

Just don't tell them that...

Norwich continues their gauntlet of all gauntlets to end the 2014 Premier League season- and, maybe, their Premier League lives...

First stop was a game against Liverpool who had the chance to extend their lead at the top of the table...
A 3-2 win will do exactly that... although the HQ will give the Canaries credit for sticking it out to the end this year and not giving up without a fight- even if it was their fifth loss in a row...

Elsewhere, it was a miserable return for David Moyes to Everton as boss of Manchester United...
He was booed at every turn and even had a guy dressed as the Grim Reaper standing behind him at Goodison Park- for 15 minutes- before someone asked the guy removed his outfit.

It was a not-even-close 2-0 loss where the Evertonians got their pound of flesh for his exodus and the raid of Marouane Fellaini and attempted raid of Leighton Baines. Not so surprisingly, Moyes sounded like this after the match:

Oh, and Arsenal won the Premier League pre-match version of the NIT- the FA Cup- with a 3-0 win over Hull City...

OSG Prem: Reds At The Top Of The Table, Fulham Still Bottom

((HT: Sportsnet))

The lead at the top of the table is now Liverpool's to keep... even as Manchester City has two games in hand on the bunch...

The Reds have now gone their last 13 without a defeat- including 8 wins and a dismantling of Spurs at Anfield this afternoon. Makes the HQ wonder just how much patience the front office will have with caretaker manager Tim Sherwood after another throttling by a top five club...

Here's the wrap...
Elsewhere, the matinee on Sunday was Everton trying to put another nail in Fulham's relegation quest with a win at Craven Cottage. Believe it or not, the reserves were the ones coming through over and over again as Roberto Martinez's squad solidified their top-5 place... ((HT: ProSoccerTalk))

OSG Prem: The Top Stays Top, Except For Arsenal...

((HT: BPL on NBC/SkySports))

It was an unbelievable first twenty minutes for Chelsea against Arsenal...

Earlier in the week The Chosen One (Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho) maintained that his counterpart, Arsene Wenger, was only good at being a "specialist in failure." He kept pushing buttons and made sure everyone was on edge as the game started...

Eto'o and Schurrle made it 2-0 in the first 8 minutes, and then an odd call from referee Andre Marriner gave a red to Kieran Gibbs instead of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain- who lobbied for it and still wasn't given the dismissal...

The red card will be transferred to AOC from Gibbs on Monday, by the way...
And the final was 6-0...congrats to Arsene Wenger in his 1000th appearance as manager... (???)

Mourinho still believes the title is Man City's to lose and after today's display against Fulham, who can really complain about that assessment. Yaya Toure scored on two PK's early on before this strike from the outside gave him his hat trick in a 5-0 win over Fulham...

Not to be outdone, Luis Suarez and Liverpool had their hands full with Cardiff for the first 55 minutes or so, then the Reds took over winning 6-3 as Suarez had a hat trick himself to go with Skrtel and Sturridge

Elsewhere, Hull City shut out West Brom 2-0, Everton held off Swansea 3-2 to keep a look at the Europa qualifier, Newcastle's Cisse scored near the death and dedicated the goal to suspended manger Alan Pardew in a big win over Crystal Palace, Norwich shut out Sunderland 2-0 as well, but the interesting story line late came from West Ham and Manchester United.

Rooney's 50-yarder on Adrian gave the Red Devils enough momentum to pull out a 2-0 win themselves...
Here's the goal- again- because we can... and Beckham's reaction was priceless...

OSG Prem: Liverpool, Swansea Forget Defense, Big Win For Norwich

((HT: ESPNFC))

Liverpool's fits and starts are maddening to the Reds and their fans...

They were on full display Sunday in the match against Swansea City- up 2-0, tied at 2, up 3-2, up 4-2, win 4-3

Newcastle needed three points and got it going against Aston Villa, winning 1-0

And in, what was told to be a mandatory must-win situation for manager Chris Hughton, got the mandatory must win for Hughton to stay another week as Norwich boss in a 1-0 win over Tottenham...

Here's the recap of the Premier League Sunday...

OSG Prem: Chelsea, Arsenal Save Spots, Liverpool Climbs

((HT: Sky Sports))

The Winners on the end of the very busy holiday period were Liverpool, Man City, Arsenal, and Chelsea at the top of the Premier League table.

The biggest surprise was from Spurs as they beat Man United at Old Trafford to continue the fan's consternation at David Moyes and the wonder of Tim Sherwood's run as new manager. Moyes was still hot over a non-PK call against Tottenham for their 6th loss of the season.

Chelsea went 3-0 over Southampton- who look tired now. Manager Jose Mourinho also said that Juan Mata and Michael Essien can look for new homes in the January transfer window. Man City outscored Swansea 3-2 countering Wilfried Bony's double. It now appears that Michu is out for six weeks with his ankle injury and surgery.

Arsenal scored two late to beat Cardiff. And it appears Nicklas Bendtner is out for "weeks" after getting an ankle injury. Liverpool needed a late goal from Luis Suarez to distance themselves over a tired Hull City squad by the same margin.

Here's the wrap through the eyes of the guys at Sky Sports...

The surprise on the day has to be the Fulham 2-1 win over West Ham- with Hammers manager Sam Allardyce wondering aloud where his captain, Kevin Nolan's, head has been recently after getting another red card. It forced a squad fighting for relegation to play a man down in a game they couldn't afford to lose.

Everton and Stoke drew as did Palace and Norwich. Also at the bottom, Villa beat Sunderland and West Brom knocked off Newcastle on a Berahino PK...

OSG Prem: Luis Suarez Answers Kids Questions

((HT: Pro Soccer Talk))

It seems ever since Liverpool's striker Luis Suarez has become a father that he has become more amenable to fans and their responses to him and his game...

So, as part of Liverpool's widening of their media reach, their Kop Kids reporter Finn got a sit down with El Pistolero...

And it's pretty funny...

For The Record, Luis Suarez Is Ridiculous...

((HT: BPL on NBC))

It was one of those rare, mid week full schedules for the Premier League...

And Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers asked that everyone step up to help Luis Suarez with the injury to Daniel Sturridge...

As it turns out, they only needed Rahim Sterling to give Liverpool their 5th goal of the day...
Suarez had already scored the first four... including the early "Goal of The Year" candidate...

See...???
We told you...

Ridiculous...

OSG Prem: Welcome Back, Liverpool...Suarez Makes A Point

After the two-week international break, the top soccer league in the world was back at it this morning with the Everton-Liverpool match-up and it hasn't disappointed...

A goal by Cutinho was matched by Kevin Mirallas to tie things up at one...
Then, Luis Suarez decided to take advantage of an Everton wall that had a big hole in it...
The HQ has no idea what Steven Pienaar was thinking at the tim of set-up...

Mirallas' game status was in serious question after a challenge to Suarez- which, really, should have been a red card dismissal... and he started the second half by crowning Suarez in trying to avoid a tackle.

And when physios get involved, you know that Merseyside Derbys are as normal as they can be...

OSG Prem: Suarez Shines, Southampton Rolling

((HT: NBCSN/BPL))

Luis Suarez and Liverpool are on a huge roll right now as it has been not necessarily proven, but reinforced, as to how important he is on the offense. Suarez and Sturridge were credited for all four goals today against West Brom...

Here's Suarez's first of the day, which was special...

Which team do we pay attention to when we're talking about Manchester United...???
The one that was on display in the first half Saturday against Stoke, or the one that did this on their way to a 3-2 come-from-behind win at Old Trafford...???

Elsewhere, Arsenal and Everton scored 2-0 wins, and Southampton got one of those themselves and are now THIRD in the league table

Who Knew...??? Luis Suarez Has A Sense Of Humor

((HT: edflinkinp))

Those of you who follow us know that soccer is our new toy in the toy chest...

And we know that Liverpool's Luis Suarez can be a handful more-than-sometimes...

But, in a new TV ad campaign, he shows his sense of humor about his perceived short-comings on the pitch and his personality

Now, if only Brendan Rodgers could get THAT Luis Suarez to be his Luis Suarez, the Reds would be in good shape up front and Suarez wouldn't ask for a move...

OSG Prem: Liverpool's Suarez Fined For Biting (UPDATED: 10-Match Ban)

Liverpool's Luis Suarez now is the Premier League leader in biting with two...

He had done it once before when he was a player at Ajax...
Suarez was given a seven match ban for his teething...

Over the weekend, he pulled the same stunt against Chelsea's Ivanovic...
((HT: SkySports))

"For my unacceptable behavior yesterday, the club has fined me today," Suarez wrote on his Twitter and Facebook accounts.

Suarez said he wants the undisclosed sum to be donated to families affected by the 1989 Hillsborough Stadium disaster, which killed 96 Liverpool fans. This past weekend was the anniversary of the tragedy, so Suarez's timing wasn't the best...

Ever...

He still could face a long ban from the Football Association for his munching, but surprisingly, the team isn't budging on their thoughts on his future.

"It affects his future in the sense that we have to work with him on his discipline, but Luis is a very important player to the club,"
Liverpool managing director Ian Ayre said. "He's a very popular player with his teammates. As we keep saying, he signed a new four-year contract last summer, and we'd all love to see him here throughout that contract.

"He's a fantastic player, top scorer and everything we'd want in a striker, so there's no change there. This is more about getting him back on the right track."

The Professional Footballers' Association (the player's union) has offered the services of counselors. Adidas, Suarez's sponsor, released a statement:

"Adidas takes this type of incident very seriously and does not condone Luis Suarez's behaviour. We will be reminding him of the standards we expect from our players. Luis has admitted his actions were unacceptable and we support the way Liverpool are planning to handle the situation."

WEDNESDAY UPDATE: The FA has given Suarez a 10-match ban...

The ban begins immediately, so Suarez is done for the rest of the regular season. He has until midday on Friday to appeal the additional seven-match suspension.

Liverpool's managing director, Ian Ayre, told Sky Sports: "Both the club and player are shocked and disappointed at the severity of today's Independent Regulatory Commission decision.

"We await the written reasons tomorrow (Thursday) before making any further comment."

OSG Prem: ManCity Still Struggling At Anfield

((HT: FoxSports/Barclay's Premier League))

The defending champs, Manchester City, are trying to figure out how to make up for the lack of Sergio Aguero...

It's adding up to a little Tevez, a little Toure, a little Nasri, and a little everyone else...

The Citizens are having problens at Anfield, traditionally, and it continued on Sunday against Liverpool. But were it not for the best of Martin Skrtel and the worst of Martin Skrtel (coming out in the same 90 minute period), it would have been another day without points.

But Suarez had a beautiful free kick to also get in the scoring book...
Evidence below...

OSG Prem: Wild Weekend With 2 Games Left...

((HT: FoxSoccer.com))

First and foremost, how long did it take $48-million transfer Fernando Torres to show...??? Too long in the minds of the Blues fans...

Chelsea blows out QPR 6-1 and Torres had three of them...

QPR is in danger of relegation as they're in the fight of their lives...

Not to be outdone... Liverpool's Luis Suarez matched Torres output with some work of his own... the third one was a cracker from 45 yards out...

Wigan is getting closer to getting out of the relegation battle, and at the same time, drawing Aston Villa into the fray with a 4-0 win over Newcastle- a complete surprise, but the Latics have now won 4 of their last 6...

Now, what's left is the Manchester Darby between City and United...
City wins and the League title is theirs to lose with tiebreakers and such... lose and it may be United's after all...

Even if Roberto Mancini says his team doesn't have a chance...

OSG Prem: Suarez Apologizes, No Further FA Action

((HT: SkySports/ESPN))

OSG Prem: Liverpool-ManU Has More Suarez Shenanigans

((HT: PremierLeague/SkySports))

Remember when Liverpool's Luis Suarez was banned for 8 matches after a supposed racial slur directed at the Reds' Patrice Evra...???

This was Suarez' first match back, and guess what happened in the handshake line...???

Wayne Rooney scored twice to give ManU the 2-1 win over Liverpool, and here's the coach's reactions...
((HT: SkySports))

Ferdinand got props and Dalglish is, probably, going to have the house fall on him fairly shortly... and we didn't even look at what happened at the half when Evra and Suarez may have gone at it in the tunnel.

No cameras...
