Ray Lewis Forced to Give Up Kilimanjaro Climb

((ht: tacklekili.lockerdome.com))

Mad props to Mr. Lewis for even attempting to climb Africa's Mt. Kilimanjaro, something he now will be forced to try again.

Just two days into his attempt to raise money and awareness for clean water projects in eastern Africa, the former Baltimore Raven had to step aside when his oft injured foot swelled and he had a fever.

The rest of his team did continue the climb.

More from the groups attempt at climbing the 19,000 foot summit can be found on their website RIGHT HERE

Lewis, according to the website, will stay at the base camp while Doug Pitt and others complete the climb. And Lewis will be healthy and ready to begin his new part/full-time gig as an NFL analyst at ESPN when the NFL season begins at the end of July.

Here is some video the group put together as they prepared to begin their ascent:

Try The Ray Lewis Lasagna For Your Super Bowl Party.

We found this outside a restaurant in suburban Atlanta advertising their Ray Lewis Lasagna for Super Bowl Sunday. The restaurant; Bally's Pizza in Roswell, just north of town. No word on sales this weekend.

Unfortunately we didn’t have a chance to stop and sample the lasagna, though we suspect that more than a few curious customers will.

You'll remember, it was 13 years ago when Atlanta hosted the Super Bowl that Jacinth Baker and Richard Lollar were stabbed to death near the Cobalt Lounge in Buckhead.  Ray Lewis, Reginald Oakley and Joseph Sweeting were indicted on murder and aggravated-assault charges.
Ray Lewis plead guilty to a misdemeanor charge of obstruction of justice and sentenced to 12 months’ probation in exchange for his testimony.
Oakley and Sweeting were acquitted of the charges.
