When Mariners closer Fernando Rodney does well, he pulls out an arrow from his quiver and sends a shot into the air celebrating his closing...
Only problem... when you pitch more than an inning, this can happen if you don't keep it up
Boom...
Karma...

It's "Dance Fever" With Your Seattle Mariners
((HT: MLB.com))
The HQ admits that, sometimes, there's a lot of time where baseball players and coaches are waiting around to do stuff...
Could be anything... so, just "stuff..."
Mariners pitching coach Rick Waits paired off with reliever Tom Wilhelmsen's in his tradition of dancing to a song during batting practice...
Here's the dance-off...
So, faithful reader...
Who won...???

Tampa Bay Rays Moving Tribute to Don Zimmer
((ht: mlb.com))
He wasn't a "Star" player, but he's someone if you are over the age of 30 or follow baseball seriously, you knew about.
He wasn't front page pretty or a living, walking quote machine, but he spoke for everyone in the game.
Don Zimmer managed or at least seemed to have managed roughly half the teams in Major League Baseball in his career. He began that career as a member of the Brooklyn Dodgers.
Which is the jersey the Tampa Bay Rays and Seattle Mariners donned Saturday night as they lined the field during a moving celebration of Zimmer's life.
Zim passed away on Wednesday at the age of 83. He was a "Special Advisor" to the Rays. And the Rays did him right by celebrating the incredible life and amazing experiences of a man that most everyone in baseball knew and loved.
Watch and enjoy.

Giancarlo Stanton and the Walkoff Grand Slam
If it weren't for the exploits of one Giancarlo Stanton, we aren't sure anyone would pay attention to the Miami Marlins.
But Mr. Stanton, well, he provides an awful lot of highlights and few are better than what he did Friday night.
After a reviewed play loaded the bases for the Marlins in a 4-4 game with the Seattle Mariners, Stanton strode to the plate with nobody out.
He proceeded to hammer a pitch from Yoervis Medina over the left centerfield wall, and yes, it was a game winning grand-slam walk off.
Marlins win 8-4 and the celebration went on deep into the night.

Mariner Moose Attacked: No Really
((ht: deadspin.com))
Yes, you read that right. Someone took a swing at the Seattle Mariners mascot, the Mariner Moose.
It's hard to believe anyone would seriously try to punch a mascot in the nose, yet that's exactly what happened over the weekend at Public Safety Day at Boeing Headquarters in Seattle.
According to KOMO-TV, a Boeing employee approached the Moose who was doing his best to entertain the crowd and hit him smack in the nose.
No details as to what happened afterwards, the Moose was apparently un-injured. The employee is in trouble with his boss, because even if he may have been joking or playing, the company isn't.

And because Local News does their best to get to the bottom of such events, here's KOMO's TV report, where they got reaction from---you guessed it, fans on the street:

Dollar Bill Drop, Y'all... Causes Delay In Seattle
((HT: ROOT/MLB))
It's the very rare instance that causes a baseball game to slow down than the action itself...
Happened yesterday at SoDo when the Twins were playing the Mariners...
In the 7th inning stretch, something called the $5k Tailgate released $6-grand in $1 from the upper deck of the stadium and caused everyone to look skyward and grab what they could. The Tailgate will let you run a race doused in Seahawks-colored paint before the Sunday Night game against San Francisco that is their home opener.
Their website crashed as a result...
Here's one of the announce teams trying to figure out what's going on...

A's And M's Play Through The Stink In Oakland
((HT: CSN California/KGO-TV))
A sewage problem with the 47-year-old Oakland Coliseum caused a backup that made the A's and Mariners dress in the same clubhouse, made Mariners manager Eric Wedge hold his presser in the hall instead of a foot of water in his office, and this apparently happens even when the team is on the road.
Too many people made trips to the bathroom during the six-game homestand...
The San Francisco Chronicle and Susan Slusser reported that leaking pipes and backed up drains occur often, even on days when the Coliseum is empty. The field is 22 feet below sea level, and the clubhouse level is 3 feet below sea level.
The lease for the A's ends after this season, just so you know...
Team president Michael Crowley, when asked about this, said “It’s clear, right? This isn’t the first time this has happened.” And the Angels even filed a grievance a few years ago when there was a concern over e.coli
Oh, Bartolo Colon pitched the A's to the 10-2 win before the sewage got out of hand...
Manager Bob Melvin says Colon should be a part of the All-Star conversation...

Another Game-Tying Grand Slam... For Nothing...
((HT: MLB.com/ROOT))
It's not every day that you see extra-inning grand slams... regardless the ones that mean something...
Kyle Seager did the following in front of a crowd of teens in Seattle this afternoon...
But, as it goes sometimes, it was all for naught...
The White Sox scored twice in the 16th inning for the 7-5 win...
Seager is now hitting .283 in the middle of the Mariners order...
The clubs combined for 15 pitchers, 244 pitches thrown by White Sox pitchers and 249 by Seattle...
The game took 5 hours and 42 minutes

Mariners Baseball: If You Catch Ball in Beer, You Must Chug Beer
Yes, this is your funny video of the day. Sort of.
Wednesday night at the Astros/Mariners game in Seattle, a dude in the stands did what dude's are prone to do at sporting events.
Chug beer.
Only this guy did it after catch a foul ball in his beer cup.
If you aren't a fan of drinking, you probably will be appalled at this. If you are a dude or someone younger than 50, you'll get a good laugh out of it.
Oh, and for what it's worth, the Astros beat the Mariners.....

Burglar steals Ichiro jersey's from Mariner's store
((ht: seattletimes))
Haha! Sort of.
A burglar in Seattle is being questioned today for his lack of judgement. And no, it has nothing to do with attempting a robbery.
Rather, it's why he took the time to break into the Seattle Mariner's team store to steal a bunch of Ichiro jersey's.
Mostly because the jersey's were 50% off and Ichiro doesn't play for Seattle anymore.
But, hey, maybe a discount was enough. The $240 jersey's at half off would still fetch a decent price we suppose.
Either way, the guy was caught on video breaking into the store. And Seattle Police are apparently hot on his trail.
Read the Seattle Times story RIGHT HERE
Well, it sucks that the guy was so desperate that he felt the need to commit a crime. But it is kind of funny that he supposedly scouted, then stole those particular jersey's only.
We're guessing Police won't have too hard a time trying to track him down, those aren't something that you can easily turn around and sell without drawing at least a little attention.
For what it's worth, here's video of the guy breaking in and then leaving:

Felix Hernandez with the El Perfecto
Yup, another perfect game in the 2012 Major League Baseball season.
This time, it was thrown by one of the best non-publicized pitchers in the game, Felix Hernandez of the Seattle Mariners.
The 26-year old struck out 12 Tampa Bay Rays hitters on the way to the 1-0 win at Safeco Field. Ironically, the M's were part of this years other perfect game by Chicago White Sox pitcher Philip Humber in April.
Yes, Seattle has had a couple of no-hitters thrown by their pitchers, but no, none of them went no-no like this.
All hail King Felix, he hasn't been incredible this season, due in part to the lackluster Mariners offense, but when he's on, he's on and at least today, you can't be any more on then this.
And we found video of the guy in the upper deck who shot it:

How Many Seattle Mariners Does It Take To Throw A No-Hitter? It Took Six
Usually you don’t call pitching a no-hitter a team effort. It took six Seattle Mariner pitchers to keep the Los Angeles Dodgers hitless Friday night at Safeco Field.
Kevin Millwood started the game and threw six no-hit innings against the Dodgers. When Millwood came out to the mound to throw the seventh inning he quit after one warm-up toss. It turns out Millwood left the game due to a mild right groin strain.
Here’s Millwood explaining the injury. (Note: Whoever shot this needs to take a class in shooting video.)
After Millwood exited the game Charlie Furbush, Stephen Pryor, Lucas Luetge, Brandon League and Tom Wilhelmsen kept the no-hitter intact. Wilhelmsen had the honor of closing out the no-hittter.
Mariners 2012: Kevin Millwood (6 innings), Charlie Furbush (2/3), Stephen Pryor (1/3), Lucas Luetge (1/3), Brandon League (2/3), Tom Wilhelmsen (1), Seattle vs. L.A. Dodgers, June 8, 2012, 1-0.

Stephen Pryor was credited with the win as Dodger starter Nathan Evovaldi was keeping the Mariners scoreless. Evovaldi threw six innings allowing just 5 hits.
It was the first career win for Pryor, a rookie. The six pitchers used by the Mariners is the most used. It was also the 10th combined no-hitter in baseball history. The first one by the 1917 Boston Red Sox Babe Ruth was the starter.
