Your Daily Vin Scully Storytime

((HT: MLB.com))

This next few minutes should be a lesson for all broadcasters as to how to do your job properly

It was Vin Scully in a 4-run game filling time telling a tremendous story...

Full disclosure...

The HQ makes a point to listen to the first three innings of Dodger home games all the way from the other end of the country...

Holy Mackerel! That's Embarassing!!!

((HT: MLB.com))

When Vin Scully shames your defensive lack of focus, you know it was bad...

And this three-throwing error nonsense from the Dodgers was exactly that...

Vin Scully Will Return For A 66th Season

((HT: MLB.com/TWC Sportsnet LA))

And the Dodgers pulled out all the stops last night to pull one over on the fans...

It was, first, the equivalent of a Vin Scully bobblehead giveaway night- a microphone was handed out to the fans who made it early enough to Chavez Ravine.

And, then, to announce his return, the folks at TWCSLA did a little between-innings reporting...
Wanna see a crowd go absolute bananas...???

Thanks for coming back...
That's all the HQ can say...

The Kershaw No-Hitter Condensed With Vin Scully's Calls

((HT: MLB.com))

The beauty of Los Angeles Dodgers games is that we get to hear Vin Scully call the games...

So, now here is a condensed version of all 27 outs from the Clayton Kershaw no-hitter with Scully's calls on his 19th no-no

Tony Gwynn Honored In San Diego

((HT: MLB.com))

It was the first home game for the San Diego Padres after the death of their Hall of Famer Tony Gwynn- and the tribute was fitting for Number 19.

But, what may have been missed in all of this was the Dick Enberg tribute that happened from Seattle the night of his passing as part of the Major League Baseball remembrance

715 Was 40 Years Ago Today

And the HQ will maintain that Hank Aaron is the home run king of Major League Baseball since we don't quite believe the Bonds numbers are naturally obtained...

To celebrate the day... here's your flashback...
((HT: FilmArchivesNYC))

And here are three home run calls from Curt Gowdy, Vin Scully, and Milo Hamilton

The video version...

And, in another note, the following year- Frank Robinson was named manager of the Cleveland Indians...

Two cool moments...
One day...

Vin Scully Does Earthquake Play-by-Play: And It Was Awesome

((ht: sportingnews.com))

There are few things in the world more enjoyable than listening to a broadcasting legend call a baseball game. And Friday night, one of those legends, Los Angeles Dodgers voice, Vin Scully, was doing just that.

Scully was calling an exhibition game between the Dodgers and the Angels when a fairly strong, 5.1 earthquake shook Chavez Ravine (home of the Dodgers).

True pro, Scully's tone and voice never changed, he just described it as a tremor and wondered aloud if anyone else had felt it.

"A tremor and only a tremor"

The great ones never panic and try their hardest to make sure nobody else does either.

Listen to Vin Scully call an earthquake: (thanks MLB.com)

Vin Scully Can Do No Wrong... Frankly, Everything Is Right...

((HT: MLB.com))

And that is reinforced here with his open from the Sydney Cricket Ground...

How cool is that...???
Pretty cool...

Welcome back, baseball...
Well, only parts of you...

Vin Scully Calls A Rivera Save... How Cool Is That...???

((HT: MLB/FSWest))

There are few times on this earth that we get to see greatness wrapped in greatness...

Last night, in Los Angeles, the Yankees beat the Dodgers but that wasn't the story...

For the bottom of the ninth, Vin Scully called a Mariano Rivera save...

Sit back and enjoy...

Standard excellence from both and the HQ wouldn't expect anything less...

Vin Scully And Paper Airplanes= PBP Gold

((HT: FS Dodgers/MLB))

When games get out of hand, as the 16-1 Phillies win over the Dodgers did the other night, fans can find things to do with their game notes...

And Vin will be there to call the end of the sporting exhibition...

And now, he can check that sport off his list for calling the lead...

If There's Something About Vin Scully... This Is It...

((HT: Molly Knight, ESPN The Magazine))

That is all...
Karma shines to those who we look up to...
And Vin Scully is no different...
The minute Vin Scully and his family walked on to the field a... on Twitpic

How cool is that...???

When Scully and his grandkids walked out onto the field at Dodger Stadium to throw out the first pitch, that happened...

LA Anchor Drops F-Bomb Instead Of Joke

((HT: KTLA-TV via Big League Stew))

Duk gave us this one...

And it was the early contender for "Gaffe of the Week"

The HQ has no words...
Just watch...

Yikes!
FOSG Gil Tyree claims she had her "Oh, Fill-in-the-blank" Moment...

Completely agree...

Confirming Vin Scully's Awesomeness- Version Eleven Billion And Eight

((HT: MLB.com))

It was in last night's Rockies-Dodgers game...

One of the things Scully has taught a lot of us in the business is the business of lip-reading... minus the copy-editing for television...

When Rocks manager Jim Tracy had to challenge a call, he got loud...
And Scully was there for the translation...
