((HT: MyFoxBoston))

A few days before their state title game and after graduation...

Thus, the rub in the whole thing...

A couple of graduating seniors at Beverly (MA) High School had their picture taken smoking cigars at their graduation ceremony. Since they are 18, they're not breaking any state laws. OSG High: Ohio Hockey Title Called A Tie After 7OT

((HT: Cleveland.com/Rozboril))

Columbus-St. Ignatius and Sylvania-Northview can both call themselves champs after the OHSAA decided 7 overtimes were plenty...

The game was tied at ones and couldn't go to a shootout due to a national rule- so, despite the coaches and players thinking they could get one or two more overtimes out of the folks involved, both schools are champs...

Here's the press release from OHSAA commissioner Dan Ross citing player safety and some other such things...

Blecch...

Here's the St. Ignatius presser with folks who agree and, at the same time, don't agree...

The game wasn't even the longest in Ohio history as an 8OT game wins that one...

So, the idea of everyone getting a trophy continues to permeate the landscape...

Double blecch...

Kharlton Belmar scored twice for RVA and caught up with Vic Dorr, Junior of the Richmond Times-Dispatch:

“I knew we had good enough players to compete,” Belmar said. “But my first thought was, ‘OK, let’s do that; let’s show we can compete; you know, have a good, strong season.’ I’ll admit: I never thought things would turn out the way they have.”

The undefeated expansion team goes into the final at 9-0-2...

In the west, FC LVU Sonic- your defending champs- were knocked out 3-2 by the Sonoma County Sol...

"This is exactly where we want to and expected to be," Sol game-winning goal scorer Taylor Varnadore said after the game. "We have played this way all year long and are continuing to come up with the right solutions to each game."
