For the wrong reason, probably...
The game itself was fantastic.
Memphis scores on a 4th Down and 4 with ten seconds left in regulation to send the game to overtime at 45.
Both teams kick field goals in the first, and Memphis holds off BYU with another field goal and interception in the second overtime for the 51-48 win.
But here's what went down afterwards- and it was UGLY!
BYU AD Tom Holmoe took to Twitter to apologize for his team's behavior.
What will come of this...???
Don't know, really...
But the HQ figures that anything that happens will be internal...

Panthers And Saints Taking Swings At Each Other
((HT: NFL on FOX))
Let's face it, the NFC South is dirty for the wrong reasons...
And it seems to have taken on a life if its own in today's Panthers-Saints game when Carolina QB Cam Newton went over the top and scored- despite the actions of the New Orleans Defense
In the pile, about 45 seconds in if you missed it, was the Brandon Williams punch that led to his ejection. Cameron Jordan and Ronald Powell are the two Saints that, apparently, were the recipients of the swings.
Expect an envelope from the league to visit Williams' locker

OSG High: Musket Bowl Ends In Musket Brawl
((HT: WJHL-TV/Cam Smith))
It's no secret that Daniel Boone and David Crockett (TN) High Schools don't like each other- and haven't for a time...
The 45th matchup ended up in a big fight that required some big punishments from the TSSAA (Tennessee Secondary School Atlhetic Association)
Here's the aftermath- and it's harsh
NEWS10 ABC: Albany, New York News, Weather, Sports
Three year post-season ban... that's huge... even more than the close to $5,000 in fines.
The schools are debating an appeal- citing the lack of time to put together an addequate defense...

What Is It With Miami And Nebraska...???
((HT: BTN))
It was like the 1990's all over again out there- especially when the players didn't like the way they were going against each other at one point
It was a fun one in Lincoln as the Huskers eventually won 41-31

Well, That's One Way To Get The Fans Involved At Training Camp
((HT: The Black and Silver Way))
The Raiders, pretty much, don't like anyone- much less the Dallas Cowboys can attest over time...
Today, this happened at training camp where the two are beating up on each other- watch the right side of the screen
Yep, that was a fan taking a swipe when the Cowboys just got too plum aggressive towards the silver and black on the last play of practice. Dallas corner B.W. Webb got it twice in the back of the head by the time it was over.
"Two teams going after it and happened to be some fans, too," Webb told ESPNDallas' Tim MacMahon. "Hey man, it happened. I wasn't expecting that. But whoever jumped on my back, I had to get them off. Hey, you got to let them know, man, the only thing protecting you is this fence."
Webb is right and, sometimes, fans insert themselves where they really shouldn't...
But it IS the Raiders...

Under-20 Tourney Gets Ugly Between Northern Ireland And Mexico
((HT: Youtube/BBC Sport Ireland))
The Milk Cup is a tournament played in Ireland on a yearly basis and this year's tourney will only be remembered for this brawl that broke out between the two nations in the box.
Especially, after what the Mexico national player does at the end of the scrum
Northern Ireland won 2-1, but four players were sent off after the two fights and the match was called four minutes early by the lead official because of all the stuff going on.
Northern Ireland manager Stephen Craigan told the BBC:
"It was not nice. There were young kids here from around the world. They were here to watch a football match; they do not expect to see that. Mexico did it last year - they had a man sent off for punching. They have a history of it. I have to be careful what I say, but I would like to think Mexico will not be back at the Milk Cup."
The Mexico squad has since apologized...

Jacksonville and Birmingham go after each other for 17 MINUTES SOLID!
Tonight, it was triple-A's turn at the brawling as Reno and the Isotopes went at it
KOLO-TV's Ben Ross has the overhead
According to Larry Brown Sports, there were ten ejections including Reno manager Phil Nevin- and this was in the second inning of the game. And this is the first time in a while that the HQ has seen anything drift in to the stands like that.

Arkansas-Little Rock And Central Arkansas Rumble In Baseball
((HT: The Echo))
Brother Wilkie can speak to this better than the rest of us, but our history of knowing rivalries would put UALR and UCA in it without fail. You're talking D1 versus D2, big versus little, and all the regional complexes that go along with it all.
In the 10th inning of the Trojans-Bears game last night, Arkansas-Little Rock coach Scott Norwood and Central Arkansas coach Allen Gum got into a disagreement and it escalated from there.
Here's the start of it...
According to Dustin Poynter's article in the UCA newspaper, umpires stopped the game for approximately 20 minutes before play resumed. Thankfully, there were no injuries reported as UCA won 5-4 in 11 innings.
The only game fallout were the ejections of Norwood and UALR sophomore pitcher Chad Bradford.

Here's An Ending For You In The NHL- Pick A Partner
((HT: NHL on TSN/Some Hockey Videos))
Shane Hnidy has a great point in this ending...
Wanna create rivalries...??? Have something like this happen at the end of the Jets-Blues game Monday night...
It will be interesting to see if there are any additional penalties handed out by the league office after this one...
The HQ would say "No" off the top of our head, but anything is possible...

Utah Valley-NMSU Brawl Includes Fans, Under WAC Review... (UPDATED)
((HT: UVU SBS))
This was the end of the game between Utah Valley and New Mexico State- and it wasn't pretty...
Here's a little more from the stands...
((HT: thejadedsunrise))
So, here's the deal...
The Aggies lost a 7-point lead in regulation and lost 66-61 in overtime...
NMSU guard KC Ross-Miller was the one who chucked the ball at Utah Valley's Holton Hunsaker and then...
Jason Groves of the Las Cruces Sun-News caught up with Aggies head coach Marvin Menzies:
"What was embarrassing was (Ross-Miller's) actions," said Menzies when reached by the Sun-News. "As far an anything after, I'm going to wait to see what their fans did, what the security was like.
"We were going to shake hands. The game was over. They had fans on the floor and our guys felt threatened by that. One thing led to another. The film doesn't lie. I'm just thoroughly disappointed with (Ross-Miller's) actions. I'm disappointed with the way he handled himself. ... Guys were trying to hit our guys, and our guys were trying to defend themselves. We had staff pulling guys away. It turned into a free-for-all there for a moment. There were 50-75 fans on the floor. Before I can pass judgement, I have to watch the film."
WAC Commish Jeff Hurd is set to review the tapes Friday morning...

One Of The Worst Brawls You'll Ever See...
((HT: Baseball America))
Take you to Cuban baseball for this one...
First, just watch... pretty wild...
Now, the background...
Villa Clara pitcher Freddy Alvarez gives up a homer and then hits two batters afterwards. After the second batter got buzzed, a player came in from the dugout with the bat and started swinging...
You saw the self-defense. Now, the HQ just wonders how much of a suspension that Matanzas player Demis Valdes will get...
Even with a swing and a miss...

Carlos Zambrano Starts Brawl In Venezuela
Former major league pitcher Carlos Zambrano is apologizing for starting a brawl during Venezuela's winter league series final.
In Game 3 of the finals, this happened when the opposing pitcher threw at one of Zambrano's teammates...
His apology was carried Monday by El Nacional newspaper, and translated from the article said in part:
"I got a hit, fell, during the brawl. The most disadvantaged was I by the stupidity of wanting to take justice into my hands, when the Bible says that justice is God's. But I am human, I am not perfect,"said del Toro, after becoming the center of attraction of the brawl that sailors and Caribs, staged at the top of the sixth inning of the third game of the final.
"What happens on the pitch stays there, said Zambrano."This will not end today or tomorrow. If you stick a pitch in the major leagues, many people will go to the mound and you will want to arrange things in a very unprofessional way."
"It was an embarrassing moment. Last night when I went to the dugout I didn't have to get out more so. It gave me grief with God and the fans. It was a moment of impulse".
The LVBP (Venezuelan Pro Baseball League) was looking at tape to determine any kind of discipline- that could even keep Zambrano from pitching in a 5th game if the series goes that far...

OSG High: SC HS Game Marred By Brawl
((HT: WSPA-TV))
It wasn't the only one last night that went this way, but it certainly seems to be the loudest one that the HQ has come across...
The Boiling Springs-Gaffney in suburban Greenville boys game got out of hand last night- in the second quarter...
Gaffney would eventually win 83-81 in overtime. But the after effects of the brawl were that several players were ejected, including each team's benches for coming onto the floor. It left Boiling Springs with five players for the remainder of the contest and Gaffney with four.
Until overtime... when Gaffney had a player foul out and they had to play three-on-five for most of the free hoops time...
Here's the recap...

Let's Dance! Flames-Canucks Go With Line Brawl Off The Top... (UPDATED W/Tortorella Nutty)
((HT: CBC/NHL via Josh Rimer))
It has been a long couple of days for John Tortorella and the Vancouver Canucks...
But "Hockey Day In Canada" wrapped with a first period line dance among heavyweights...
The amount of figuring out the do-se-do gets a little long, but the desired effect was a real piece of work...
And the HQ loves how Bob 'artley didn't engage Torts at all...
132 minutes in penalties were doled out by the time they were done...
And here's a longer version...
There were 178 penalty minutes total in the first...
And, in the intermission, Torts charged the tunnel and still wanted a piece of the Flames...

OSG Prem: Saints-Newscastle Spiral Out Of Control
((HT: NBC Sports/BPL))
Newscastle manager Alan Pardew was let go by Southampton a few years ago and wasn't too happy about it...
They played for the first time in the Premier League and the game, understandably, degraded at the end...
First, the ref gets popped in the nose by an inadvertent shot as Sissoko was mad at the Southampton goalie.
Then, the benches go after each other in stoppage time...
Not out of the ordinary for these two...
Evidence below...

JuCo Football Game Turns Into Hell In A Cell...
((HT: Lost Lettermen/Jamaal Street))
This was the end of the Long Beach City College 55-10 rout of College of the Deserts...
Enjoy...
With 1:10 remaining, it was interesting to see the Deserts defensive player (who ran for a score after the whistle) come back and buck-buck the offensive lineman...
And it is interesting to see if the same person shooting the video is the person heckling the Deserts players...
Newspaper reports have the brawl getting more interesting after the video stopped...
From Mike Guardabascio at the Long Beach Gazette newspaper:
After that, players exploded from both sidelines, throwing punches and helmets, as a few dozen fans jumped over the Vets railings to join in.
After things had been calmed down, a Vikings player punched a Roadrunners assistant to start it back up again.
LBCC finished 4-6...

Line Brawl! Line Brawl!
((HT: Sportsnet))
The game was 7-0, so the end wasn't in much doubt...
So, usually, in these circumstances what happened below happens to send a message...
Here's the longer version...
((HT: NHL Network))
And here's a shorter piece of it...
You figure Ray Emery will get a suspension for going from one end of the rink to the other... Emery received the highest total of 29 penalty minutes. He was charged with leaving the goal crease, instigating a fight, and fighting. He was also ejected. "He didn't want to fight, but I basically said, 'Protect yourself,'" Emery said postgame.
114 penalty minutes were handed out in the brawl itself.
Philadelphia racked up 99 penalty minutes, and Washington received 65 in the game from beginning to end...
Vincent Lecavalier lost some teeth as a result of his battle.
Steve Downie suffered a concussion.
And (better yet) Emery was named the third star of the game...
The HQ is NOT even kidding on that one...
