Sandusky Pension Probably Revoked, Family Letters Blame Everyone Else...

((HT: WHP-TV))

The state of Pennsylvania's public employee pension system has notified the Sandusky family that they're in the process of revoking Jerry Sandusky's state pension as a result of his conviction and sentencing this past week.

Sandusky's lawyer, Karl Rominger, has already said that Sandusky would fight any attempt to revoke his pension.

And, in a bit of a sidebar, the letters that Jerry and Dottie Sandusky wrote as part of their sentencing defense were released after judge John Cleland and Centre Court made the letters public. In them, the husband and wife, pretty much, blame everyone but themselves for the family's downfall: the victims, the media, the university, and the police.

Here the letters are in their entirety, thanks to CNN

Sandusky first laid this groundwork in a leaked radio interview the night before the sentencing...

"My trust in people, systems and fairness has diminished," Sandusky said in part. "In my heart I know I did not do these disgusting acts. However, I didn't tell the jury. Our son changed our plans when he switched sides."

"There were so many people involved in the orchestration of this conviction (media, investigators, prosecutors, "the system," Penn State and the accusers.) It was well done. They won!"

Actually, coach, reality won for a change...

Just don't tell Dottie Sandusky...since she thinks her adopted son, Matt, is also at fault in all of this:

"People need to know what kind of person he is," she wrote. "We have forgiven him many times for all he has done to our family, thinking that he was changing his life, but he would always go back to his stealing and lies. He has been diagnose (sic) Bipolar, but he refuses to take his medicine."

Uh-huh... keep talking...
It's just that no one is listening...

Breaking: Jerry Sandusky's attorney files appeal

Jerry Sandusky
((ht: centrecountytimes.com))

Well, this may not overshadow the Freeh Report, but it's a pretty big deal.

Karl Rominger, attorney for convicted child molester Jerry Sandusky filed an appeal today in court. The appeal appears to be based on charges that the judge overstepped his bounds, forced the defense into changing their tactics and failed to adhere to the laws governing such trials.

Read a copy of the suit RIGHT HERE

The appeal is based mostly on technicalities. Among them, that Judge John Cleland forced the defense to reveal who they shared their discovery with, which forced them to reveal their case strategies. That's the heart of Rominger's argument.

We aren't attorney's so we don't know if this will hold any weight, but we are really curious about the timing. With everything going on around the Freeh Report, we find it quite interesting Rominger waited until this afternoon to file.

Did he think nobody would notice?

Sandusky Testimony continues: Trooper Trouble and Dottie Speaks

Jerry Sandusky
As much as the prosecution had been moving in a straight line towards a gimme conviction in the trial of former Penn State assistant coach Jerry Sandusky, Tuesday's testimony will give it at least some pause.

The reason: Twofold.

The biggest, perhaps, revelation in court Tuesday was the conflicting testimony of two Pennsylvania State Troopers. Those two troopers appear to have left on their audio recorders during a conversation with Victim #4's attorney and according to Sandusky defense attorney Karl Rominger.

On that tape, Corporal Jospeh Leiter and Trooper Scott Rossman are heard telling the victim's attorney that what he described happening to him was very similar and consistent with other victims. And when asked about it in court, Leiter and Rossman gave different answers.

Yahoo Sports reporter Dan Wetzel summarizes what happened RIGHT HERE

OK.

What happened here in the legal world unfortunately is a big "No-no". It feeds, albeit marginally, into the defense claim of a conspiracy. In the real world...and on TV, it's just confirming proof of a pattern. In the legal world, it doesn't work that way.

Will it be enough to derail the case? Probably not. But it will raise...and has already raised questions. And cases like this aren't always debated on whether someone did something or not, they are sometimes trials on procedure and if it was followed correctly.

Which to many is an inherent flaw in the system.

Anyway....

The other big event of the day is Dottie Sandusky, Jerry's wife, and her testimony.

Dottie Sandusky told jurors and others in court that she "Never saw Jerry do anything inappropriate with the children that came to their home". She said she didn't know why there would be so many people who would come out and accuse her husband of the crimes he is charged with.

Aside from that, she offered no real revelations, telling jurors that her husband usually fell asleep before she did and that she could recall how many kids came to their home over the years. She did say that at least one or more of the victims maintained a relationship with the family post-dating the accusations and characterizing a couple of them as either "Conniving" or "Clingy"

Here's the wrap from our friends at WHP-TV

Finally, Judge John Cleland reaffirmed the defense feels it will be wrapped with their case by noon on Thursday. Given time for closing arguments and jury instructions, we are guessing it will be in the jury's hands by the end of the day Friday or beginning of the day on Monday.

The HQ also thought it interesting that attorneys for scribe Sara Ganim filed a motion to quash her subpoena to testify in Bellefonte citing First Amendment and journalism objections...

How awesome is that...???

More Sandusky: Getting creepier by the day

Mike McQueary w/Joe Paterno
Today is the day we should learn more about what the administrators at Penn State did or didn't know about alleged child molester Jerry Sandusky.

There will be a preliminary hearing held in the cases of Athletic Director Tim Curley and former VP Gary Schultz.

The two men were charged with perjury after the grand jury report on Sandusky was released.

The report was formulated largely on the testimony of Penn State assistant coach Mike McQueary. McQueary allegedly saw Sandusky engaged in sex act with a young boy in a shower.

McQueary's story has been put in some question, he is expected to be the focal point of today's hearing and is expected to testify.

You can read a preview from the Harrisburg Patriot-News RIGHT HERE

We hear that despite some reported discrepancy's in what McQueary said he saw, the public hasn't heard everything about his testimony. The gaps may show or clarify what has been released. Keep in mind a "Grand Jury" summary is just that, a summary. It doesn't detail entire transcripts.

Now...this all comes on the heels of what is arguably the creepiest comments yet by a Sandusky attorney. A legal consultant advising Sandusky's lawyer, attorney Karl Rominger, told a Harrisburg, PA TV station (WHTM) that Sandusky's admission that he showered with boys was because Sandusky was trying to "Help troubled children who don't have basic hygiene skills."

He added "Teaching a person to shower at the age of 12-14 sounds strange to some people, but people who work with troubled youth will tell you there are a lot of juvenile delinquents and people who are dependent who have to be taught basic life skills like how to put soap on their body."

Really!

Rominger later released a statement saying his statement has become "Somewhat exaggerated" by the media.

Uh...why would you EVER say something like that. To a TELEVISION station no less. It's one thing to make an excuse for something but come on...

Here's your clip from WHTM, judge for yourself:
