NPSL Week 9 Midwest Region Review/Preview

Central Conference

The top five teams are only separated by 8 points. Quad Cities are on top with 16 that included a 2-1 win over FC Bordo last week. Madison 56ers are only one point back at 15 after their 2-1 win over Minnesota TwinStars. Minnesota United Reserves are 3rd at 10 after their win over Eau Claire and TwinStars put 7 on Aris the next night- Aris are still winless this season.

This week, Quad Cities hosts United Reserves. TwinStars play at FC Bordo and Quad Cities. Eau Claire have the weekend off.

Great Lakes East Conference

This one is fun...

Four points among four teams...

AFC Cleveland had the week off and the group came back to them. Fort Pitt won two out of three and now have 11 points- beating FC Buffalo and Erie Admirals at home before losing at FC Buffalo in the return. The Wolves are now at 10 points with Erie at 8.

Here's the first half of the 4-0 Fort Pitt win over FCB

Great Lakes West Conference

Another street fight with three teams- Indiana Fire, Detroit City FC, and Lansing United all within three points of each other (18, 17, and 15). The Fire had a four-point weekend- beating DCFC and drawing Lansing United. Cincinnati Saints and Michigan Stars are tied at 4th with 9 points.

Here's the highlights from the 1-1 draw between Indiana and Lansing

NPSL Week 7 Midwest Region Review/Preview

Central Conference

Early thoughts are that it's going to be Quad Cities and Madison for the top two spots and the Eagles home win last week may go a long way in solidifying that. Madison picked up some more game reps with a draw with FC Bordo- who play Quad Cities this week, by the way.

Madison hosts TwinStars this weekend, and here's a cool piece that was put together on life as a 56'er

Bordo also put 7 on Eau Claire Aris FC last weekend. Aris are still looking for their first win of the year.

Minnesota United Reserves are battling TwinStars for 4th and 5th and drew each other last week.

This week, Madison hosts TwinStars and United hosts Eau Claire.

Great Lakes East Conference

Still a three team race with AFC Cleveland, FC Buffalo, and Erie Admirals...

AFCC had a rough weekend losing twice- at Buffalo and at home to Detroit City at Cass Tech
As a result, FCB are only two points back
((HT: BuffaloLive))

The Admirals had a win and a draw last week- a win over Indiana Fire and a draw with Fort Pitt for the Regiment's point of the season combined with a loss to Michigan Stars.

This week, Fort Pitt plays three matches in five days- home to the Wolves and Erie, and then, travelling to Buffalo Sunday. AFC Cleveland has the weekend off...

Great Lakes West Conference

Detroit City, Lansing United, and Indiana Fire are all within three points of one another.

DCFC has a big six-pointer with Indiana on the road this week. Lansing had the week off, but they head to Indiana as well for another six-pointer as well. Michigan Stars and Cincinnati Saints are tied with nine points each in fourth. After Cincinnati drew even on points with a 4-1 win over Michigan last weekend, they both have the weekend off.

NPSL Midwest Region Week 5 Review/Preview

Central Conference

The Madison 56ers are on top and it took a huge effort against Eau Claire Aris to pull it off- like a PK in stoppage time...

Here's the ending...
((HT: Wisconsin Soccer Central))

Quad City came in with a 7-0 win of their own over Aris and they're one point back with 10.

Minnesota United Reserves, Twin Stars, and FC Bordo are in the second group (with 6, 5, and 4 points respectively). United lost to Twin Stars to close the gap among the three and Twin Stars lost in turn to Quad Cities. Bordo also lost to Madison and Aris is still looking for their first win of the year.

This week, Madison hosts Bordo and goes to Quad Cities. United hosts Twin Stars and Bordo goes to Eau Claire as well.

Great Lakes East Conference

It's AFC Cleveland and everyone else...

A tie at Lansing and a win at Michigan Stars give them 12 points in 7 games. Tyler Pasher scored for Lansing United to give them a 2-1 lead, but AFC scored late for the 2-2 draw- here's the highlights
((HT: Lansing United))

This week, AFC Cleveland takes on FC Buffalo and travels to Detroit City FC in a huge game against Le Rouge at Cass Tech. FCB also goes to Cincinnati in a crossover.

Erie Admirals tied Detroit City at twos to get a huge point. Josh Rogers of DCFC scored on a penalty kick to give them a 2-1 lead, but they couldn't keep it in front of a sell-out crowd at home.

Fort Pitt has some ground to make up and can do it with games against Erie and Michigan Stars

Great Lakes West Conference

Another highly competitive conference at the top with Detroit City, Lansing, and Indiana Fire all with 14 points.

Lansing has the weekend off and Indiana, after a loss at Michigan, go to Erie.

Head coach Eric Rudland's dropped points on the road at Cincinnati in a 4-3 loss to the Saints to give them their second win of the season...
((HT: Lansing United))

Cincinnati hosts FCB and Michigan as the Stars and Saints have 6 points each.

NPSL Week 2 Midwest Review-Preview: May 23-26

Central Conference

The Minnesota United Reserves are on top after a home-and-home win and have both FC Bordo and the Quad City Eagles in hot pursuit two points back. Bordo had a draw and a loss in their Minnesota-based two-game road trip against United and Twin Stars. Understandably, Bordo have the week off as do Quad City.

The Twin Stars and Madison 56ers drew at 1 last week and the 56ers take on the last place Eau Claire Aris at Viterbo. Aris play for the first time since a 7-2 loss to Minnesota United Reserves back on the 18th.

Great Lakes East Conference

Two teams have points and two are struggling...

AFC Cleveland knocked off the Cincinnati Saints last week, 5-2, and they have their hands full this weekend with a crossover game with Westfield Select and a home game against Fort Pitt. FC Buffalo lost to Indiana Fire for their first loss of the season and the Fire take the top of the table because of it. FCB start a three-game home stand with a match against Erie Admirals Sunday.

Erie lost to Cincinnati 2-1 last week and host Lansing United before the trip to FCB.

Great Lakes West Conference

Westfield (or the Indiana Fire, whichever you prefer) continues their hot start- undefeated in their first four. But Detroit City FC have a game in hand and are only a point out of first after their 1-0 over Lansing United.

Detroit City FC captain Josh Rogers scored the only goal of the game on a PK

Press Row Sports caught up with DCFC manager Ben Pirmann

Lansing had a win-loss weekend that keeps them in third before they go to Erie Sunday. Cincinnati has a tough weekend with their home game against DCFC before a roadie to Michigan Stars. Stars need points as they're oh-for their first four and a minus-10.
