The men's doubles final at the Canada Open didn't go as expected since, well, a fight broke out when it was supposed to be taking place...
A doubles team that had broken up was now facing each other on opposite sides of the net, and it didn't get very far...

Bodin Issara lunged at Maneepong Jongjit up there. Issara needed two stitches, and claimed Jongjit hit him with a badminton racket. They had already received warnings from the referee following a verbal exchange.
The world federation has launched their own investigation...
"The events surrounding the conclusion of this match will be thoroughly investigated by the BWF," the federation said Monday in a statement. "The world governing body has procedures in place to deal with such situations and this matter will be referred to the Disciplinary Committee."

Another London Disaster: This Time In Badminton

The HQ knows that sandbagging goes on...
Some folks think that it happens in pro hoops as teams try to get squared away for draft position. Clippers owner Donald Sterling even had a public display a few years ago telling his team to tank...
Now it has apparently happened in London in badminton...
The early part of the medal search is done in Group/Round Robin play and when four pairs of teams from South Korea, Indonesia, and China tanked in their matches, the Badminton World Federation expelled each of the eight athletes for on-court inactivity.
Basically, not playing out points and letting the shuttlecock drop...
