They went once
And, then, they went again...
Jordin Tootoo and Robert Bortuzzo decided to go after each other as a reminder of the Jarmoir Jagr check from the last time the two teams met.
Admittedly, the thought that two guys would go at it twice in a game is odd in today's NHL, but if it was going to be two guys- the HQ would think that it would be these two.
Carry on...

Kevin Nash, Son Arrested After Domestic Dispute
((HT: WFTV))
Looks like "Big Daddy Cool" had to lose his cool just before the holiday...
It appears that WWE legend Kevin Nash and his 18-year-old son, Tristen, had an altercation in their home in central Florida.
Police reports initially had the elder Nash arrested after getting into a fight with his son. Nash said he was trying to defend his wife against his son who had come home drunk and belligerent. Police then returned once there was another 9-1-1 call from the same address after the son tried to allegedly take some more swings at other family members.
They then arrested the son...
Here's the report from Daytona Beach
The only objection the HQ has to the live shot the day after the arrest is the shooting of the license plate of one of the family cars parked in the driveway. Now, anyone can trace the Ford Mustang and chase after one of the Nash family at any time they choose...
Let's be careful out there...

Thrown Water Bottle Causes Tunnel Fight
((HT: Bardown/TSN))
Anything can spark your garden variety hockey fight, butmost of the time it has something to do with the history between the two players and their squads.
Sometimes, though, it's just a water bottle...
Let's go to the Swiss League...
During the second intermission of a game between HC Lugano and Geneva Servette HC
Lugano forward Fredrik Pettersson has the bottle and is aiming for GCHC defenseman Alexandre Picard.
Kind reminds the HQ of this
Or this
Jus' sayin'...

The Wilson-Holzer Fight Had A Twist
((HT: NHL Network/HockeyFights.com))
And it might mean another phone call from the league office for what happened at the 35-second mark
Korbinian Holzer might get a hearing over the punch, but anything is possible in the appeal- considering the idea that "Holzer didn't know what he was hitting at the time" would be his defense...
Should be an interesting test case for the NHLPA

This Week's NASCAR Fight With Brad Keselowski Where Jeff Gordon Cusses
((HT: NASCAR on ESPN))
And, instead of involving Matt Kenseth, it involves Jeff Gordon with a possible cameo from Kevin Harvick...
The lowdown this time...
Gordon and Jimmie Johnson were going at it and the Blue Deuce wedged his way in between them to make it three wide in a green-white-checkered situation. Gordon ended up a lap down with the damage and in 29th at the restart.
Needless to say, #24 was not happy about it and did you notice that Jamie Little ended up in the middle of it...???
We imagine that everyone involved will be involved in a visit to the Big Red Truck.
PM UPDATE: When asked about Keselowski's behavior, Gordon cussed on live TV
((HT: Jay Busbee's Vine))
Yahoo!Sports Jay Busbee brings up a good point: Will Gordon get fined for his outburst...???
From the Column:
Gordon is about to head into one of the most critical races of his career. If NASCAR were to deduct points from a driver in the midst of a championship hunt for a minor, inconsequential violation, hurled just after a fight, well ... the criticism would be unrelenting. NASCAR is loving the extra press now, but a hammer on Gordon for language would turn every bit of that attention to the negative.

OSG High: Musket Bowl Ends In Musket Brawl
((HT: WJHL-TV/Cam Smith))
It's no secret that Daniel Boone and David Crockett (TN) High Schools don't like each other- and haven't for a time...
The 45th matchup ended up in a big fight that required some big punishments from the TSSAA (Tennessee Secondary School Atlhetic Association)
Here's the aftermath- and it's harsh
NEWS10 ABC: Albany, New York News, Weather, Sports
Three year post-season ban... that's huge... even more than the close to $5,000 in fines.
The schools are debating an appeal- citing the lack of time to put together an addequate defense...

All Hell Breaks Loose Postrace In Charlotte
((HT: NASCAR on ABC/ESPN))
First, the end of the race in Charlotte this evening gave Kevin Harvick a win to advance in the new version of The Chase...
But all hell broke loose after the fact...
Your finish
And a longer version with commentary from some rather intense, very young NASCAR fans (NSFW)...
Then, Kenseth jumped Keselowski between the haulers out back to express some severe displeasure
Expect Kenseth, Keselowski, and Hamlin to visit The Big Red Truck very soon- and to, perhaps, be a little lighter in the wallet...
Reminded the HQ of something like this

Reason 427,000 That People Will Want To Ban Hockey Fighting
((HT: Some Hockey Videos))
It hasn't been a good few days for the Adirondack Flames...
First, the franchise introduced its new mascot to the world with a picture of a fallen firefighter at its feet...
Get it...??? Flames beat firefighter...
Yeah... it didn't go over all that well...
So, tonight A-Flames enforcer Trevor Gillies- a dimishing job idea- went against anyone willing to go...
Gillies found William Carrier and his head...
This won't go well with the AHL bosses at all...
The HQ is anticpating a big fine and suspension over this one...

OSG High: Ohio HS FB Game Called Because Of Fight
((HT: Fox 8/WEWS-TV))
A high school football game between Garfield Heights and Collinwood (OH) was called because of a fight that started either in one of two places: after a cheap shot on the field and escalated on the field, or something that started in the stands and ended on the field with that outburst...
Newsnet5 in Cleveland found this video
((HT:andygarhts5455))
Initially, five people were arrested but two were released after the first hours in the investigation.
Here's (believe it or not) chopper video of the moment the fight happened...
And the update
Garfield Heights (OH) City Schools released this statement: “Because the safety and security of every person who attends co-curricular activities at the Garfield Heights City Schools is of the utmost importance, district officials, game officials and security personnel made the decision to cancel the game instantaneously. Local officials took appropriate action, and the community can rest assured knowing that those students of the Garfield Heights City Schools who were involved will be swiftly and appropriately dealt with by the district.”

Bills Fight Again At Camp, Marrone Upset At Bills Fighting Again At Camp
((HT: The Fumble Sports))
Another day, another fight at Bills camp...
At least, they're feisty...
This time, center Eric Wood and rookie defensive end Bryan Johnson exchanged punches at the end of a play during goal line drills.
Here's Crystal Marie with a look
Head coach Doug Marrone said he has no place for fighting in camp and on his team. He ripped into the team after the Wood-Johnson fight and had them run sprints as a reminder how much Marrone didn't like what was going on.

Well, That's One Way To Get The Fans Involved At Training Camp
((HT: The Black and Silver Way))
The Raiders, pretty much, don't like anyone- much less the Dallas Cowboys can attest over time...
Today, this happened at training camp where the two are beating up on each other- watch the right side of the screen
Yep, that was a fan taking a swipe when the Cowboys just got too plum aggressive towards the silver and black on the last play of practice. Dallas corner B.W. Webb got it twice in the back of the head by the time it was over.
"Two teams going after it and happened to be some fans, too," Webb told ESPNDallas' Tim MacMahon. "Hey man, it happened. I wasn't expecting that. But whoever jumped on my back, I had to get them off. Hey, you got to let them know, man, the only thing protecting you is this fence."
Webb is right and, sometimes, fans insert themselves where they really shouldn't...
But it IS the Raiders...

What's A Bike Race Without A Fist Fight (Or Something Close)
((HT: NBCSN))
In the Tour of Portugal, two dudes decided that after they crashed they were mad at each other.
So, they did this off their bicycles
Spaniard Vicente de Mateus and Danish rival Asbjorn Kragh were the ones going at it.
NO word on any kind of discipline from the governing body of the race or the sport.

Under-20 Tourney Gets Ugly Between Northern Ireland And Mexico
((HT: Youtube/BBC Sport Ireland))
The Milk Cup is a tournament played in Ireland on a yearly basis and this year's tourney will only be remembered for this brawl that broke out between the two nations in the box.
Especially, after what the Mexico national player does at the end of the scrum
Northern Ireland won 2-1, but four players were sent off after the two fights and the match was called four minutes early by the lead official because of all the stuff going on.
Northern Ireland manager Stephen Craigan told the BBC:
"It was not nice. There were young kids here from around the world. They were here to watch a football match; they do not expect to see that. Mexico did it last year - they had a man sent off for punching. They have a history of it. I have to be careful what I say, but I would like to think Mexico will not be back at the Milk Cup."
The Mexico squad has since apologized...

Kolstad In Coma, Nelson And Shelley Out On Bond
((HT: MyFoxTwinCities))
The news on Isaac Kolstad isn't good from his family and, sadly, it might be worse for Philip Nelson and Trevor Shelley before it's done.
Kolstad's family has confirmed that he is in a medically-induced coma and has had part of his brain removed because it ceased to function. He also has had a tracheotomy to help with breathing.
Here's the latest from Mankato
KMSP-TV
Part of the statement from the family had these paragraphs about Kolstad's condition:
Due to the injuries Isaac sustained early last Sunday morning, his brain had severe bruising and swelling, increasing the pressure within his skull to life-threatening levels. In order to relieve the swelling, he required emergency surgery on his brain early Tuesday morning. Isaac had a significant amount of his brain tissue that was no longer viable removed during that procedure.
Even though the surgery was successful, the swelling in Isaac's brain remains significant; leaving him at high risk for further injury and potentially additional surgical procedures. Isaac's lungs also sustained severe injury, resulting in the inability to breathe on his own. He also sustained a lack of oxygen to his brain.
The HQ's thoughts and prayers are with the Kolstad's- if this is your kind of thing, a website has been set up to help pay for the family's medical expenses

OSG High: The Tale Of Two Hoops Stars Under One Roof
((HT: WFAA-TV))
This is the sad reality of high school athletics- kids transfer, their parents let them, and sometimes the best of intentions (no matter how illegal) turn into tragedy.
Two Dallas Independent School District high school basketball coaches are on administrative leave following the death of one player and the arrest of another who lived under the same roof. James Madison High and Wilmer-Hutchins High's head coaches- Roderick Johnson and John Burley- look like they were in a situation where they recruited two athletes and may have gone as far as having associates forge documents, signatures, and violated UIL (the Texas high school athletics association) residence guidelines when it comes to housing and enrolling athletes in their basketball programs and respective high schools.
Troy Causey of Wilmer-Hutchins and Johnathan Turner of Madison High School got in a fight in front of the home where they were both living in South Dallas. Causey died from his injuries and Turner has been charged with the murder. Turner says it was an accident.
Parents and relatives interviewed below were amazingly forthright in admitting their rationale for the actions they did.
Here's their Part Two with Brett Shipp
News 8 has uncovered two other DISD instances of improper recruiting and grade changing and they maintain that the DISD Athletics Director, Jeff Johnson, has not been held in any kind of account for all of this.
The HQ isn't naive into thinking that this stuff never happens- or never happens anywhere close to home. That would be an astronomically naive point-of-view in today's universe of cutthroat high school athletics. But to get events to spiral this out-of-control is a new level of out-of-control.

Reports: Clippers Win Over Golden State Ends in Hallway Shouting Match
((ht: usatoday.com))
On the court it was business and nothing personal, or so it appeared as the Los Angeles Clippers beat the Golden State Warriors Saturday night 126-121 to win Game 7 of their Best of 7 series.
But that apparently is where things got interesting.
This despite the long hugs and conversations as the two teams walked off the court. And after a tough series that was put in the spotlight after the Donald Sterling situation surfaced and nearly brought the it to a stop.
According to multiple reports, the Clipper celebration...in their own gym appeared to have carried over to the Warriors and started a heated exchange.
That "exchange" brought most of the players from both teams into the hallway separating their locker rooms and according to witnesses, some police officers to make sure things didn't get out of hand.
Apparently after some shouting and arguing, both sides cooled their jets and went home or wherever they wanted after the game.
According to the story in Sunday mornings USA Today, the exchange may have been started by some Clipper ball boys shouting how quiet it was inside the Warriors locker room after the game. The Warriors led by Stephen Curry and Steve Blake came out to confront what is believed to be the "Ball Boys. Later, reports say Marresse Speights came out and the "exchange" got heated. It apparently cooled until Clippers guard Chris Paul walked by and briefly got heated again before things stopped.
Read more from USAToday RIGHT HERE
Interesting and a bit disturbing.
The Clippers move on and will square off with the Oklahoma City Thunder which promises to be a fun series matching two of the NBA's flashiest teams.
Highlights of the Clips win over Golden State from NBA.com:
And a clip from NBA.com showing what they called the "Sportsmanship" after the game. We're guessing that was slugged before the reports of what happened off the court began to surface:
