A Manning Brothers Rap Battle

((HT: DIRECTV))

Yes, we know it's a complete and total ad, but it's the Mannings and it's damn funny...

The bar keeps getting set very high... which, in a way, worries the HQ...

But we'll take the funny as much as we can...

Calipari Avoids O'Reilly's Factor

((HT: Fox News))

Kentucky head coach John Calipari was making the rounds yesterday in New York promoting his new book...

Which meant the standard amount of appearances on select television shows that the publishers think would benefit the sale of the book. There was the standard amount of jousting with Dan Patrick- which actually was good television...
((HT: Dan Patrick Show))

And then there's this stereotyping conversation with Bill O'Reilly- which, really, should have come as no surprise...

The HQ posts that knowing the audience that watches him expects this kind of nonsense, but we give Coach Cal credit for not stepping in it and going where the blowhard wanted to go...

Introducing "Rap Cast", Lefkoe Goes 3-For-3

((HT: WHAS-TV))

Adam Lefkoe has become a favorite at the HQ for:

A) Having 5:00 for a sportscast...
B) Having the stones inside a 5:00 sportscast to theme it out...

First, it was wrestling then it was "Seinfeld..."
Now, we introduce "Rap Cast"

Carry on, Lefkoe...
Carry on...

Florida Tech Adds Their Name To "Football Music Videos"

((HT: Florida Sports Today))

Florida Tech is starting their football program this season with an opener against Stetson (who is also starting their program again this season themselves). They had 120 kids come out for their first round of practices...

Which is a good thing...

They're diving into their Gulf South Conference-Division II schedule full bore and mixing in some NAIA schools to fill out their grid in Melbourne.

But, as is the way with most confident teams, they decided to cut a track celebrating their successes that they're going to have... via edited rap video...

Here's their first attempt at it...

Ah, the optimism of youth...
In both act and age...

But it needs some work...

Braves Rookie Gets First MLB Hit, But Is A Rapper First...???

((HT: Fansided))

Todd Cunningham was called up to the Braves major league roster after the injury to Reed Johnson put him on the DL.

In the bottom of the 7th inning of the Braves 11-3 win over Colorado last night, Cunningham pinch hit for pitcher Alex Wood and got a single.

As part of the rookie hazing/congratulations in the clubhouse after the game, the team played his religious-based rap video "Rock Yo Jock!" from two years ago...

It has to be seen to be believed, really...

From Fansided:

He produced the video as an icebreaker of sorts for his various speeches to church youth groups.

“You hear all the horror stories and you know it’s coming,” he said of the teasing, “but if you own it, it’s not so bad. They (teammates) were expecting a little more embarrassment than they got (after playing the video).”

Here's the video...
Enjoy at your own peril...

Meredith Marakovits Knows Her Fresh Prince

And, for that, we tip our hat at HQ... and to Mike Oz at Big League Stew

The point made in the first half of the segment posted below yields this thought...
17 years ago, we were saved from aliens and got to celebrated Independence Day all over again...

Remember...??

But the thought that Will Smith won again on ID4 was great- especially when the Royals beat Cleveland to do it two days ago...
Your proof is hyah, thanks to mlb.com

Which lead from one tangent to another- and the HQ is thankful...

Here's the breakdown of how we got to the headline...
((HT: MLB/YES))

See...???

Told you it was worth the journey...

Jay-Z Calls Out Scott Boras In Song...

((HT: Magna Carta Holy Grail))

The HQ appreciates all kinds of music, really...

We enjoy old school hip hop and rap as much as we do Sinatra, but we think we missed the whole point where it turned into a name-calling contest for gazillionaires...

Mr. Z. has decided to take a shot at mega-agent Scott Boras in the "Crown" track of his new album...

For those of you who can't pick it out...

"Scott Boras, you over baby. Robinson Cano, you coming with me," as a potshot to see if Cano joins Kevin Durant, Geno Smith, and Skylar Diggins...

Darren Rovell caught up with Boras... who said what he needed to say...
"What I've learned through my time in the business is that you can't worry about external factors," Boras said. "You just have to focus on being the best you can be.

"I've been asked to negotiate all kinds of things. And I don't do that because I am singularly committed to the game of baseball. My company doesn't do anything else."

And the HQ sees how Mr. Z. has already had to straighten up a few times already. He also will have to divest himself of his Nets shares if he is going to continue- unless Mr Z. can maintain it's his business and not himself that is doing one thing or the other...

Rudy Gay Vs. Wale- Not Quite Spike And Reggie

((HT: Sportsnet/BeyondTheBuzzer))

Rudy Gay seemed to be in mid-conversation with rapper Wale for most of their game this evening...

But to be involved with both Gay and the broadcast crew takes some doing- and some effort in search and destroy...

The HQ gives Wale credit for his intuitiveness, but there's a time and place...
And there is no way that Gay and Wale are anywhere close to this...
((HT: NBA on NBC))

When You're Bored, Oregon Takes On Korean Rap...

The HQ will let you vote...

Which one do you like better...???
The re-mix...???

Or PSY's original...

We vote "draw..."

A Little Kris Medlen Ditty

Remember the Chipper Jones rap tune that we graced you with the other day...???

Ricky Mast is back with a quick tribute to Kris Medlen...

The HQ wonders who's next... Ben Sheets...???

Rappin' Version To "Mizzou Rah". Look Out SEC, "We Are Mizzou"

Here’s three white rappers from Columbia, Missouri calling themselves “Fifth Down” with a rap song for Mizzou fans to get ready for the SEC.

Yes it’s a basketball related rap song and while Mizzou has had more success in basketball than football Tiger fans are going to have to realize football rules the roost in the SEC.
You have to admit it’s a catchy tune.  Go ahead Mizzou, bust down the door of the SEC.  You just might get it done in basketball.
Of course Kentucky might have a say with that.

Stevie Johnson Reminds Us Why He Shouldn't Sing

((HT: NOC))

The Buffalo Bills Stevie Johnson teamed up with The Game to attempt to rap...

The HQ would like to chalk this up as yet another bad idea by an athlete that thinks he should do something he never should...

This little ditty is called "Run It Back..." and it's read entirely from an iPhone...

Joy...

Mikhail Prokhorov Raps- And It's Pretty Damn Funny...

((HT: The New Yorker))

He's the Russian Eminem...

And it was on a state-run show called "Projector Paris Hilton"- which, on it's own, should draw a laugh since there a joke in there somewhere...

The HQ cannot thank Julia Ioffe enough for the levity at the end of the 9-to-5 day...
