Ronny Delia is the new boss at Celtic, so this seemed the way for him to celebrate after the announcement was made at their home ground...

Jim Tressel Selected As New Youngstown State University President
[HT: The Youngstown (OH) Vindicator]
Back in the day successful head football coaches would eventually become the athletic directors.
Former Ohio State head coach Jim Tressel has set a new precedent.
Tressel, who was the head football coach at Youngstown State from 1986 - 2000, was unanimously selected by the University's trustees as the new president of YSU.
In a statement Tressel said, "We are honored and privileged to accept the board’s offer, and we are humbled by this opportunity to return to the area and school that we deeply love."
Tressel has two years remaining on his show cause penalty imposed by the NCAA for major violations on his watch as Ohio State head coach. The NCAA accused Tressel of withholding information regarding their investigation of the memorabilia-for-tattoos scandal.
Dr. Sudershan Garg, Youngstown State University trustees chairman said university attorneys look into to Tressel's show cause and don't think it should affect his ability to perform as university president.
"As long as you acknowledge it and move forward, you have to look at the positive aspects of the individual." Garg said.
Tressel leaves his job as the executive vice president for student success at the University of Akron where he was also a candidate for university president.
Here's reaction from current Youngstown State head coach Eric Wolford.

Excited about the opportunity at YSU! It’s all about student success. Going to miss all the wonderful Zips at UA.

Hoffner Wrongfully Terminated, Will Return To MN-Mankato
((HT: MyFoxTwinCities))
In August of 2012, Todd Hoffner was escorted off the practice field at Minnesota-Mankato and placed under arrest for having child pornography images on his school-issued cell phone.
Three months later, a judge dismissed the charges saying the videos were nothing more than images of his children playing in their house after a bath.
That didn't change Mankato's mind. The school suspended Hoffner for 20 days and then reassigned him to a desk job before firing him in May of 2013. He had been hired as the coach at Minot State, but after an arbitration, he will return to Mankato to coach his old school and old team.
Minot understands Hoffner's decision:
Here's the latest on Hoffner returning to Mankato
KMSP-TV
Mankato, obviously, didn't say a lot with the arbitor's decision, but they did put out a statement:
"We extend our apologies to Mr. Hoffner and deeply regret the difficulties he and his family have experienced.
"It is our sincere hope that all concerned can now find ways to move forward."
Moving forward may include a civil response by Hoffner, but that isn't know at present...

You're Hired, You're Fired... After A Few Hours...
((HT: KFBB-TV))
The University of Great Falls (Montana) hired a gentleman by the name of Todd Brittingham as their new Sports Information Director and Marketing Director yesterday. By dinner time, he wasn't the SID/Marketing Director...
UGF said they did a background check, but his criminal conviction in Kansas wasn't a part of their search results.
The local paper, the Great Falls Tribune, revealed in Jesse Geleynse's piece that:
"Brittingham was convicted in 2012 in McPherson, Kan., of endangering a child and furnishing alcohol to a minor, both misdemeanors.
He pleaded guilty to those charges in November 2011, and in exchange, four felony charges of unlawful sexual relations against him were dropped, according to The Associated Press. He was sentenced to one year of probation and a six-month jail sentence that was suspended.
Joe Biega is explaining the kerfuffle...
KFBB.com News, Sports and Weather
Gary Ehnes, the AD at UGF, was understandably stunned thinking that the information he found was all the information he needed and the references Brittingham gave had his back- which they, probably, did...
It's just another case of making sure when you're making sure...

Wake Forest Hires Danny Manning As Head Coach
It's all over Twitter and OSG sources have confirmed that Danny Manning will be announced as the
new head coach at Wake Forest.
Manning returns to his North Carolina roots. He was raised in Greensboro, North Carolina and played high school basketball at Page High School before moving to Lawrence, Kansas for his senior year after his father joined Larry Brown's staff at Kansas.
Their seems to be mixed reactions among the Wake Forest fan base. Around college basketball circles Manning has earned a reputation as one of it not the best with coaching bigs.
Manning has been mentored by Bill Self and when he had a opportunity to become a head coach enjoyed some success at Tulsa.
There's no doubt that name recognition alone makes this hire front page news however the Wake Forest fan base has had to endured some really tough times and Manning will have some healing to do.
This is a great hire for Wake Forest. Manning was around ACC basketball as a youth and has an idea what it takes to win in that league.
Manning played for Larry Brown, a Carolina alum. He won a national championship as a player in 1988and was on Bill Self's KU staff when the Jayhawks won the NCAA title in 2008.

Boston College To Hire Jim Christian As Head Coach
![]() |
| Jim Christian |
Jeff Goodman of ESPN tweeted this out:
Boston College has agreed in principle to a deal with Ohio University's Jim Christian, multiple sources told ESPN.
— Jeff Goodman (@GoodmanESPN) April 3, 2014
Jason Arkley the Ohio U. beat writer for the Athens (Oh) Messenger was on top of it.
BREAKING: Jim Christian has accepted head coaching offer from Boston College, according to several sources
— Jason Arkley (@JasonAmessenger) April 3, 2014
OSG sources have also confirmed that.Christian coached the last two years at Ohio U. and compiled a 49-21 record including a pair of post-season tournaments. This season the Bobcats played in the CollegeInsider.com tournament losing in the first round to VMI.
Before Ohio U. Christian was the head coach at TCU were the Horned Frogs mediocre at best. Christian had one winning season in Ft. Worth and compiled a record of 56-73 during his four years at TCU.
The most impressive portion of Christian's coaching resume is his tenure at Kent State. In six seasons Christian led the Golden Flashes to four MAC East division titles and 2 MAC Championships. He also led Kent State to a pair of NCAA Tournament appearances losing in the first round each.
On the surface it's a hire that won't create a lot of buzz and this is about as good as Boston College can get. Christian will have quite of an adjustment though coaching in the ACC.
Christian's first order of business at B-C should be convincing Olivier Hanlan and Ryan Anderson to stay.

Bruce Pearl Is Back In SEC, New Auburn Head Coach
![]() |
| Bruce Pearl |
"I'm humbled and blessed to be back in the game I love." Pearl said. "I don't know how long it will take, but it's time to rebuild the Auburn basketball program, and bring it to a level of excellence so many of the other teams on campus enjoy."
"From the moment I met Coach Pearl and heard his vision for our basketball program, it was clear he’s the right man at the right time for Auburn," Auburn athletic director Jay Jacobs said. "Coach Pearl is a proven winner who will bring energy and excitement to our program. We have raised the bar for Auburn basketball, and I could not be more excited for our student-athletes and our future under Coach Pearl’s leadership. I know he agrees with me — it’s time to win."
Pearl is still serving his three year show cause which expires in August. In the meantime Pearl won't be able to recruit this summer.
Pearl definitely has a reclamation project at Auburn. In four years with Tony Barbee as
head coach the Tigers were 48-75 and 18-50 in the SEC.
((HT: ESPN))
The three-year show-cause penalty expires on August 23rd.
In 2008, Pearl hosted three recruits, including current Ohio State star Aaron Craft at his home for a cookout – a secondary violation – and then lied about the cookout to the NCAA, turning a secondary violation into a major violation.
One of the larger points of contention was that two of the people on the committee that delivered the show-cause penalty to Pearl, Dave Didion, had to probably approve this idea and hire.
From Joel Erickson's al.com piece:
Dave Didion, who returned to Auburn as assistant athletic director of compliance last year, was the lead investigator on Pearl's case, according to a source, and the school feels that a strong compliance department led by Didion and compliance director Rich McGlynn will be able to guide Pearl well on compliance issues.
Didion also signed off on Auburn's pursuit of Pearl, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.
The HQ will give Auburn this... they'll certainly win the press conference...
Now, just how much patience will AD Jay Jacobs have with this rebuilding process...
And Bruce Pearl was excited when he hit the ground...
