Les Miles Tells High School Grads "Operate with swagger."

Les Miles as a commencement speaker, hard to imagine but true.
The LSU head coach returned to his roots over the weekend, Elyria, Ohio to attend a 40th reunion of his graduating class.
While touring the new Elyria high school Miles inquired about "saying a few words" to the graduating class of 2012 according to Elyria Schools Superintendent Paul Rigda.
According to the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram Miles made that suggestion to Elyria principal Thomas Jama.

If there was a signature line in Miles’ surprise commencement address to the Elyria High School class of 2012 it was “operate with swagger.”
“Swagger really means style,” Miles was quoted in the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram. “I’ve never met an Elyria High graduate who didn’t have style.”
Now you know the root of Les Miles’ personality and his passion for winning.  Those of us in the OSG HQ wonder who inspired Miles to eat grass and the ever present hat.  Heck Miles now has one with a big block "E" on it.  That will earn some "style" points back in his home town.
Passion was an ongoing theme during Miles’ brief commencement address telling the graduating class of 430 that whatever they do in life “Do it with passion.”
“If you’re going to work at a gas station, get there early and get it right,” Miles said during his commencement speech.
There is no doubt Les Miles practices what he preaches.  Miles coaches with passion and definitely has a swagger on the sidelines.
Miles left out the part of taking big risks for big rewards.  He’s had more than his share at LSU.
Of course coaching talented players has been one of the secrets to Les Miles’ success.
