Brackets Implode Thanks To Harvard's Upset Of New Mexico

Harvard Head Coach Tommy Amaker And The Crimson
For those who jumped on the New Mexico bandwagon and had the Lobos taking a deep tournament run in your office bracket pools all you can say Friday morning is "Damn."

Harvard provided the first big shocking upset as the 14 seed Crimson upset the three seed Lobos 68-62.

So much for New Mexico being the chic sexy pic to go to the Final Four.  Instead it was "Crimson and Over" for the Lobos.

"People were picking us to do this and that and I thought our focus was a little off and I thought Harvard did a lot of things to take advantage of that."  New Mexico head coach Steve Alford said after the game.

And Alford just got a new 10 year contract.  The new agreement announced by the University on Wednesday includes a $125,000 bonus should the Lobos reach the Final Four.  I hope you haven't put that deposit down on a new pool for your family coach Alford (Christmas Vacation reference.)

"We were kind of sleepwalking and got smacked," New Mexico associate head coach Craig Neal said.

New Mexico shot 37 percent in the game, 37 percent!

Harvard's bigs were in major foul trouble midway through the second half yet the Lobos could not put the dagger in the hearts of the Crimson.

Your only hope for your office pools is that everyone else drank the Lobo coolaid and it's a wash.

So much for the darlings of the Mountain West Conference.

As for Harvard, this is the biggest win in program history.  The Crimson's first NCAA Tournament victory.

For my bracket I wish I saw that coming.
