Construction Worker Killed At 49ers New Stadium

((HT: KGO-TV))

Levi's Stadium is supposed to open next year in the Santa Clara are at the cost of a cool US$1.2-billion. It's also set to host Super Bowl 50. It's going to be paid for, in theory, through a loan taken out by the Santa Clara Stadium Authority. It will, in theory, be paid back through naming rights, seat licenses, rent, and other stadium revenue.

There is no current thought on what would happen if supply and demand don't match up... but the city of Santa Clara doesn't quite share the HQ's pessimism at present...

Construction came to a halt today when a construction worker was killed in a permanent elevator. Santa Clara police, fire, and Cal/OSAH (the state version of OSHA) are doing separate investigations.

This is the first serious accident at the 49ers stadium construction site.

Here's the early returns on the story...

No word on when the investigations will be concluded or when construction will continue...
