UFC 182: Jon Jones Wins by Decision

PLEASE GO TO OUR NEW WEBSITE: onlinesportsguys.com

The two men in the feature match at UFC 182 made it clear they don't care for each other. But they still put on quite the show.

Light heavyweight champ Jon "Bones" Jones beat challenger Daniel Cormier by unanimous decision late Saturday night in a very, very close fight.

The two men had scuffled during the pre-fight press conference and the language between the two was not exactly g-rated leading in.

But Jones left the MGM Grand Hotel with the win...

Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier Media Day Fight: The Day UFC Became the WWE

((ht: foxsports.com))

Yeah, read the headline, we said it. And we winced at the thought because like most of you, we were hoping this wouldn't happen.

Shortly after a media event in Las Vegas, UFC Light Heavyweight champ Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier got into a "skirmish".

The two men, for some yet-to-be determined reason were on a stage---we're guessing to announce tickets going on sale for the next UFC event in September, when the un-pleasantries began.

And not so coincidentally, the two guys are fighting each other in said event.

The two men ended up with a handful of security on UFC officials, crashing the banner behind them and making a big mess.

And to be totally honest, it looked like a boxing or WWE type of "melee"...or as former announcer Jim Ross used to say--a "Slobberknocker".

The two were separated but had a bit of a "Twitter" discussion afterwards.

You can read that exchange on FoxSports.com RIGHT HERE

While the tension and angst here might be real, it sure looked a lot like a set-up to build momentum towards a Jones/Cormier match much like brawls between competitors do in Professional Wrestling (aw geez, we said it again). Somehow, we expect the actual match to be somewhat less staged...or at least we hope so.

Mayweather On Rousey: Don't Know Who "He" Is...

((HT: David Greisman/BoxingScene.com))

The video shot below by Greisman is one of two things:

Either Mayweather is completely oblivious to everything outside his own sphere of influence or,
He's just poking the bear knowing that Ronda Rousey really wants to take on the boxer- since Dana White thinks that Rousey can put a hurt on him...

Decide for yourself...

What say you...??? Work or ignorance...???

Chael Sonnen Explains TRT And Hypogonadism

((HT: Fox Sports))

Not really topics the HQ thought that would really ever be discussed about when on sports-based television programs. But when Chael Sonnen failed drug tests before his fight in UFC 175, he went on to the network where he is an analyst to discuss what went down...

Sonnen tested positive for Anastrozole and Clomiphene- anti-estrogen drugs normally given to women. If men take the drugs (banned by UFC), they reduce estrogen and can also help restart natural testosterone production. Since he had taken synthetic testosterone in the earlier parts of his career, Sonnen needed to take other medication for the correction inside his body later in life.

Sonnen is, obviously, appealing the ruling...

Chris Weidman Hangs on to UFC Middleweight Title After Beating Silva Again (Wanna See...???)

The match was billed as a revenge match and was hyped as much as any UFC match in recent history.

And it ended with a broken leg.

Chris Weidman, a surprise middleweight title holder after beating UFC legend Anderson Silva early this past summer, defended that title in Las Vegas Saturday night as the headline match in UFC 168.

The match ended just over a minute into round 2, when Silva went to the mat writhing in pain after blocking a leg kick by Weidman. It was later determined that Silva's shin had cracked from the block.

The win moves him to 11-0 in his career, which appears to be bright as Weidman is still somewhat of a newcomer in UFC circles. As for Silva, he's now 38-years old and for the 1st time in his legendary career, has lost two straight matches.

Ronda Rousey Needs Someone To Give Her A Bar Of Soap

((HT: ESPN/STATSports24))

The ultimate fighter was on the four-letter promoting her upcoming fight with Miesha Tate, but forgot she was on live television- much like Liam Neeson...

And just as funny...

The Whole "cuddle tree" thought put the whole segment over the top, though...

Dana White Rips GSP Result At UFC 167

((HT: Sportsnet))

Everyone thought that the GSP-Johny Hendricks fight would come down to the last five minutes- regardless of what was happening inside the octagon itself in the first parts of the fight...

And, everyone was right... it actually went to the scorecards...

Despite everyone who watched the fight thinking Hendricks having the control and the verdict, the cards gave GSP the decision when it was announced 48-47, 47-48, 48-47: a split decision...

Judges Sal D’Amato and Tony Weeks scored rounds one, three and five for St-Pierre. Glenn Trowbridge scored the first, second and fourth for Hendricks.

GSP maintains his welterweight belt, but everyone (and everyone else not everyone) is already calling for a rematch...

Even Dana White was hot in the postgame press conference...

Here's the man behind UFC not believing what he saw...
St. Pierre says he has to step away for a while and White seems convinced that he is not talking about a retiring fighter...

Anderson Silva Decked After Taunting Chris Weidman Loses Title

And this is why you shouldn't taunt your opponent if in a fight.

Now former UFC Middleweight Champ Anderson Silva, who calls himself the "Greatest of All-Time" ain't so great anymore.

That's because he got beat.

Chris Weidman knocked Silva out late in the 2nd round of their title fight on Saturday after Silva inexplicably dropped his hands and began taunting him.

Weidman, ever the professional fighter, and undefeated thus far in his young career, did exactly what he should have, he decked Silva.

Jones Knocks Out Sonnen In UFC 159

((HT: UFC))

After, seemingly, a long time that the two fighters just ran their mouth Jon "Bones" Jones and Chael Sonnen finally got it on last night at the main event for UFC 159. And while it wasn't quite the Cheick Kongo knockout, Jones held on to the title with the following display in the eight-sided ring at Prudential Center...

After Jones strategy of closing Sonnen's boxing space and grappled him to the floor, it looked like Jones kept Sonnen pinned down and simply didn't give him the space he's used to operating...

Jones, who broke his foot in the win, is under indefinite medical suspension for a pretty gruesome injury- the big toe went sideways. Jones later tweeted from the hospital, “Yep still at the hospital bone definitely broke through the skin.”

Sonnen wasn't looking at the injury as his way out...

"You know what? When I get in there, I just want to know who's better," Sonnen said post-match. "I just want to feel these other guys. I want to see what the hype's about. If they would have called the match [in his favor because of Jones' broken toe], I wouldn't have had any illusions. I knew in those first five minutes who the better fighter was.

"I'm sure it would have gone to a rematch and we'd have had to do that again, because it would only have been right to Jon. But I got my questions answered tonight."

Jones' tied Tito Ortiz's light heavyweight record by making his fifth consecutive successful title defense. He said he'd like to face Alexander Gustafsson the next time out. But there is talk that Anderson Silva called Dana White to see if he could get his foot in the door...

So to speak...

TV Reporter Falls Victim To Ronda Rousey (VIDEO)

((HT: KTLA-TV))

The HQ knows what live, morning TV is all about...

Getting yucks and ratings points...

FOSG Allie MacKay was told she was going into the ring to get some pointers from UFC women's champ Ronda Rousey, but what Rousey didn't tell MacKay was that it was going to get a little more physical...

The HQ hopes that MacKay wasn't seriously injured and got out of there alive...

Overeem takes out Lesnar and Lesnar retires

It appears the run of the "Next Big Thing" in the UFC may have come to an end.

And it came in somewhat surprising fashion.

Alistair Overeem ended Brock Lesnar's run in the UFC with a powerful kick to the intestinal area. You'll recall Lesnar has been unable to fight over the past year due to intestinal issues including a serious battle with diverticulitis.

The stiff kick to the area around Lesnar's liver, sent him to the mat and ended one of UFC's most meteoric careers. Lesnar, a former WWE wrestler and college wrestling champion was considered a star in the UFC ranks ever since beating UFC legend Randy Cotnure in 2008.

There have been some rumblings that Lesnar may return to his roots in the WWE, but considering his health issues, they may just be speculation.

Here's your fight video, at least until someone pulls it:

UFC 140: "Bones" Jones Is A Bad Man

Jones survived a rough first round in the light heavyweight title fight against Lyodo Machida to take the match with a standing, guillotine choke.

Here's the match itself, until it gets pulled...
((HT: UFC/PPV/youtube))

Jones (15-1) becomes the first 205-pound champion since Chuck (The Iceman) Liddell to make back-to-back successful title defences.

"He looked phenomenal. Jon Jones is the real deal," UFC president Dana White said. "I just don't see anybody beating this guy any time soon."

Each fighter got an addtional $75k for showing up in Toronto.

Jones, in a calendar year, has beaten Shogun, Bader, Rampage, and now Machida...

((HT: TSN/"Off The Record"))

Chael Sonnen is in the process of his rematch with middleweight champion Anderson Silva.

Sonnen gets to go head-to-head with Landsberg on the topic... twice...
