DEVELOPING: Black Monday Begins: Ryan and Idzik Fired

((HT: NJ.com/SNY))

Surprising no one, really, Black Monday begins with a dual firing in New York with both head coach Rex Ryan and GM John Idzik being shown their walking papers.

Owner Woody Johnson has long been known for wanting to clean house and he went two levels on a team that seemed ill-fitted to compete in the AFC- until yesterday with their fun performance and win over the Miami Dolphins

Here's his game ball presentation

And his addressing the media after the game

The HQ anticipates their will be further action in Chicago, Atlanta, and the actions in San Francisco

Rex Ryan might finally be leavin' on a non-Jet plane...

Idzik (L)) and Ryan (C) might be shown the door by Johnson (R)
MEADOWLANDS, NJ--Sports pundits have been placing wagers on Rex Ryan's demise in New York for years. Well, if you picked the end of the 2014-15 season for sexy Rexy's marching papers, then you might have just won big.

According to NJ.com, former Redskins general manager and consultant Charley Casserly has already started contacting people about replacing the embattled head coach AND current NYJ GM John Idzik. Owner Woody Johnson is apparently not wasting any time.

According to another source, Ryan has already started cleaning out his office in advance of the impending move. If this happens, at least Ryan and Idzik went out after a 37-24 win over Brother Phil's Miami Dolphins. Ryan spoke out after the game, in a message directed right at Johnson.

"Fire me, already. Don't jerk me around."

The OSG Sports team will keep you posted as details arise.

ICYMI: NY Jets With Worst Trick Play Ever

Folks, the New York Jets are a crappy football team. Despite their near constant presence on the Sports TV wrap-up shows, they are a bad football team. They don't have nor have they earned the right to have that much coverage. Nobody outside New York...and maybe not even there based on a recent Facebook poll cares anything about them.

That all being said, this is visual proof of just how sad the J-E-T-S are. It's a really, really bad attempt at a trick play on a kickoff return during their 42-23 loss to the Buffalo Bills.

The Jests had T.J Graham lay down in the "Green" end zone, wearing his green Jets jersey during a kick that landed deep in the end zone with the thought that new acquisition Percy Harvin would throw it to him as he suddenly sprang to life.

Yeah...

It didn't go quite that well. Harvin got the ball, tried to run out of the end zone and before he could wind up...was tackled on his own 2 yard line.

Good bye Rex Ryan, it was nice doing stories about you:

Rex Ryan Has Fun At His Presser

((HT: NJ.com))

The HQ gives New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan a lot of pre-season credit for taking it for at the level of seriousness it should be taken at (to end a sentence in a preposition)...

He decided to, literally, turn the tables on the New York area media by sending ESPN New York's Rich Cimini from his seat at the presser to Ryan's normal space behind the lectern.

And Ryan got to ask the questions for a change...

Sense of humor...

The HQ completely digs it...

The New York Jets are Stupid

You know, we've grown weary over the past couple of seasons being bombarded with non-stop, blow-by-blow, stupid mistake-by-stupid mistake coverage of the hapless New York Jets.

And every time we think the ESPN and NBC Sports of the world are going to finally figure out nobody outside New York likes or cares about the ineptitude of the Jets, we get this.

Saturday night during the teams exhibition game with the New York Giants, which the Jets actually  won, head coach Rex Ryan made another in his long list of bizarre coaching decisions.

Inexplicably, Ryan put the man most think would be the starting QB for the team, Mark Sanchez (he of the butt fumble), back in the exhibition game in the 4th quarter with the backups instead of 3rd teamer Matt Simms.

And almost immediately, Sanchez got hurt. He was hit by the Giants Marvin Austin and came off the field with what appeared to be a pretty significant shoulder injury.

Granted, there was no guarantee that Sanchez would be the starter when the season begins, the massive media throng covering the team has been hoping rookie QB Geno Smith would get the nod. But Smith played like a green rookie throwing 3 INT's during the game and pulling a Dan Orlovsky by stepping out of his own end zone trying to complete a pass.

Anyway....

As dumb as the Ryan move was, it got worse when he got kinda defensive about it at his press conference:

Rex Ryan Tattoo Sends ESPN and NY Media Into Feeding Frenzy

((ht: nydailynews.com))

It appears the world will never be exposed to enough stories about the New York Jets. The fact that they were one of the worst teams in the NFL is somewhat irrelevant to the amount of coverage the rest of us are subjected to.

And the latest story has the New York tabloid media and our friends at Tim Tebow's favorite network all aflutter.

It seems as though Jets coach Rex Ryan was stalked and found sunbathing at a hotel in the Bahamas by a New York Daily News photographer. That photographer snapped a photo of sexy Rexy's arm, adorned with a rather large tattoo of his wife---wait for it---wearing a Mark Sanchez jersey.

Okay, please stop laughing now.

The above photo is NOT of that tattoo, but it is Sanchez, possibly the leagues worst QB and Ryan together.

**ED NOTE--We didn't steal the NYDN photo because we run the risk of getting in trouble for it**

If you want to see the offending tattoo photo, you can click on the NYDN link HERE

Unfortunately, Ryan is heading back to his friends in New York City and the team is slated to hold their overdue "Season Ending" presser sometime today. We are quite sure it will be a live breaking news cut in to programming in New York and probably on "The Worldwide Leader" too.

Funniest NFL Game Ever: Patriots Rumble, Jets Bumble

By now, if you are a sports fan, you probably know the New England Patriots destroyed what's left of the New York Jets, 49-19.

But did you see the highlights?

This may very well have had the funniest play of all time in it.

Sure, there were lots of "Lowlights" for the J-E-T-S, but the worst may have been when QB Mark Sanchez ran into the butt of one of his offensive linemen, the impact caused a fumble that Steve Gregory or the Patriots grabbed and returned for a touchdown.

No, seriously, that actually happened. After Butt Fumble, The Jets Are Officially The Worst Football Team

And to make it worse, on the ensuing kickoff, Joe McKnight of the J-E-T-S fumbled too, that also was returned for a score.

Here is a question to all of you? Do you find the implosion of a team that ESPN spent the entire preseason covering as funny as we do? Or a team that has a coach who promised they'd make the playoffs?

Heck, at this point, we'd be surprised if Sexy Rexy makes it through the season. And quite honestly, a little dose of humble pie wouldn't be such a bad thing for Rex Ryan.

But that is just our thoughts. Or maybe yours too.....

Anyway, here are your highlights (or lowlights--depending on your perspective)

Morning Laugh: NY Post speaks truth about Jets

((ht: nypost.com))

Sometimes the New York tabloids are annoyingly stupid. And sometimes they are REALLY funny.

This time, the New York Post is really funny.

Check out the back page cover for today. A photo of Rex Ryan and his idiotic New York Jets titled "Clowns".

Even at our snarkiest best, we couldn't top this.

Saying that we are ABSOLUTELY sick of hearing about the Jets, Tim Tebow and Rex himself may very well be the biggest understatement in history.

Fromt the FORCE FED daily ESPN coverage to the constant whining and complaining, we can't figure out why a team that is 3-6 gets so much attention.

They aren't very good, they've lost 3 in a row and because ESPN has decreed the Sports World will be a better place with a daily mention of Tebow, we get daily lead stories.

Can someone...anyone...explain to us why we care that "Un-named" Jets players say that Tebow sucks? Can they give us details as to why the collapse of the Jets matters to anyone other than Jets fans. A fan base mind you, that isn't NEARLY as large as a certain sports network would like to believe it is.

And yet this is a LEAD story? Why? We don't understand? Are we missing something? Was there an expectation by someone the Jets would be an AWESOME team? Does anyone take Rex Ryan as anything other than what the POST has pictured him as?

So many questions and so few answers. We still have two months of NFL Football left and that means 2 more months of Jets stories.

We know how much we're dreading this, the question is perhaps....are you?

Rex Ryan: "We Got Our Ass Kicked." Yes The Jets Did By The 49ers 34-0

New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan has had some memorable press conferences but this is by far the angriest after the Jets were shellacked by the San Francisco 49ers 34-0.
"I was going to say we got our butt kicked, but really, we got our ass kicked," Ryan said.

Short, sweet and to the point.
Here’s the rest of Ryan’s post game presser. (Thanks SNY)

I’m willing to bet film session and practice is going to be real fun this week for the Jets.
What really got Rex Ryan pissed off is the Jets defense gave up 245 yards rushing to the 49ers.  No Niner running back went over 100 yards but three had over 50 yards on the ground.

Then again the Jets offense stunk too.  Mark Sanchez’s box score will make a Jet fan puke going 13 of 29 passing for 103 yards, no touchdowns and an interception plus sacked three times.
The Jet offense could only total 145 yards all day, 45 yards rushing.

Hey look on the bright side your still 2-2 on the year.
Oh yeah, I forgot that Darrelle Revis is out for the year with a torn ACL and today to add insult to injury Santonio Holmes had to be carted off after he was injured.

The fella’s from SNY discuss the Jets carnage and the fact they think Mark Sanchez sucks.  (Thanks SNY)

I have family members that are passionate Jets fans and I'm sure they are having the same conversation.  The only difference is the language is a lot more colorful.

Tebow-Mania To Broadway...(UPDATED With A Question Mark...)

For a couple of picks- a four and a six, while the Jets turn a seventh rounder back to Denver...

So, now we have Sanchez, McElroy, and Tebow...

Who, by the way, is no Brad Smith...

Who is going to keep Rex Ryan's mouth in check this year if "Hard Knocks" heads back to Long Island...???
HMMMMMMMMMMMMM..........????????

Jus' axin'
((HT: HBO Sports/youtube))

1600 UPDATE: Or not... apparently there is a snag now...

According to Adam Schefter, anyway...

In Tebow's contract is a $6.2 million salary advance- $1.2 million has been paid by the Broncos. $5 million is supposed to be advanced during the tenure of the deal, and that would shift to the Jets in a trade. The Jets, according to Schefter and his sources, believe the Broncos should owe Tebow the $5-million.

The teams agreed to the trade before the Broncos asked the Jets to pay the US$5-million... and the Jets are squawking...

More when we know more...

Unnamed Jets take shots at Sanchez

Mark Sanchez
((ht: nydailynews.com))

Nobody says "Team Chaos" like the dysfunctional New York Jets.

On the same day the team relieved offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer of his duties and replaced him with former Dolphins head coach Tony Sparano, comes an gossipy story from the New York Daily News.

In the story at least one "Unnamed" player and several "Unnamed" sources say that Jets QB Mark Sanchez has become lazy and content.

At least one goes on to speculate that the team should try and get Peyton Manning from the Colts to replace Sanchez. Others just say the team needs a good veteran QB to push Sanchez to be better.

And yes...it seems Sanchez has fully embraced the lifestyle of a "Celebrity".

Read the Daily News story RIGHT HERE

Despite our extreme distaste for "Unnamed" players and sources for stuff like this, there is probably a measure of truth here.

However, Sanchez is far from the only person to blame on the Jets. It should start with Head Blowhard/Coach Rex Ryan and work down. One thing the Jets did prove this season is money doesn't buy you titles. There is something to be said for "Team Chemistry" which it appears they don't have.

Yes, Sanchez was pretty awful for the most part this season and that cost Schottenheimer his job. But if you add in Santonio "The Sulker" Holmes and other "Attitude" guys then you realize there are multiple problems here. But the QB always gets the blame and in this case it isn't totally wrong.

We think the bigger problem is Ryan, who while immensely popular as a "Players" coach, he seems to have lost his team. Add that with Ryan's mouth having a tendency to write checks his team isn't cashing and you have all the ingredients you need for a pending implosion.

It's only a matter of when.

Rex Ryan to play Patriots fan in movie: No...really

((ht: nydailynews.com))
Rex Ryan

We couldn't avoid mentioning this though we truly believe Rex Ryan is a blowhard.

The  outspoken New York Jets head coach, who has gone on record multiple times voicing his hate for the New England Patriots, will apparently be playing the role of a hardcore Patriots fan in an upcoming Adam Sandler movie.

The movie, "I hate you Dad" was shot last summer and Ryan, who is pals with Sandler was asked to play the role of a lawyer who helps Sandler out during the film.

The whole discussion came about during NFL Network anchor Rich Eisen's podcast on Thursday.

Read the NYDaily News story RIGHT HERE

We mention this story only for the irony stated here. It appears Ryan has to say lots of nice things about Bill Belichick and Tom Brady, something he doesn't necessarily do during the football season.

No, it isn't exactly a movie we'll be clamoring to go see and if Sandler's recent track record holds, very few others will as well. Though it would be interesting to see if the Patriots might have a little fun with some of the movie clips, once it does finally come out...next year.

Bet you didn't know Sandler got his start on MTV, as a part of the show Remote Control. Enjoy--Stud Boy:
