Today in Useless Polls: Your Preseason AP Top 25 College Football Teams

For those of you who keep track of such things, the perhaps final and for many fans, definitive preseason college football poll is now out a mere 2-weeks before the season kicks off.

And while the SEC crazies and other big college football fanatics live and die by such things, they are essentially meaningless to most. The only thing these polls do is eliminate a large chunk of teams from competing for the final BCS title to ever be called BCS.

The reason we say that: Simple. If you aren't in the top 10, it will take an incredible run of luck and more than a few upsets for you to get there. And....really, in several cases, your team probably isn't as good as they are picked, but because they have a big reputation, they always show up on this list.

Naysaying being what it is and because despite the "Rich get richer and poor get poorer" mentality of College Football, we love to watch. And most of you really do get into things like this.

Think of it as a pre-cursor to our own poll that begins on opening week: We call ours "The Dirty Dozen and the Bottom of the Barrel". Look for it in 2-weeks.

In the meantime, your AP Poll:

1) Alabama (58 1st place votes)
2) Ohio St. (1)
3) Oregon
4) Stanford
5) Georgia (1)
6) South Carolina
7) Texas A&M
