Arrest made in Winter Classic brawl

((ht: nbcphiladelphia.com))

A Philadelphia man whom police believe started a brawl after the NHL Winter Classic January 2nd, turned himself in Thursday afternoon.

That guy is 32-year old Dennis Veteri, a Flyers fan from New Jersey. Veteri is facing assault and reckless endangerment charges in the fight that left a New Jersey policeman and war veteran unconscious and needing stitches.

The fight, which involved a battle between Philadelphia Flyers and New York Rangers fans happened near Geno's and Pat's steaks in Philly and was shot on a cellphone, then posted to YouTube. It further enhances the STUPID factor of a percentage of fans. In this case, it adds to Philly's reputation as a horrible place to be a visiting fan. And no, that isn't something to be proud of.

Somewhere, somehow, someone needs to either teach these morons to respect visiting fans and realize its just a silly game being played or there are going to be repercussions. Criminal charges work...to a point because it keeps happening.
