OSG High: Georgia Splits Public And Private In Single-A, Now Have 7 Champs

After the idea was presented that a lot of the Class-A (smallest classification as identified through enrollment) schools were planning on seceding and creating the GPSA- the Georgia Public School Association...

OSG HQ covered it initially hyah...

The Georgia High School Association held another meeting of their Executive Council and passed, by a 37-12 vote with one abstention, the idea of splitting Class-A now with a public champion and a private champion to avoid secession and keep the 35 Class-A schools as part of the 405 school dynamic.

Here's reaction from around the state...
First from FOSG Frank Sulkowski

And from 13WMAZ-TV in Macon...

Finally, from FOSG Robert Hydrick and WALB-TV in Albany

ANALYSIS: This isn't the end of this...

Look for some of the private schools to mosey over to the Georgia Independent School Association (GISA)- the private school association that some schools left to go to the greener pastures of the GHSA in the first place.

City schools think they're now in the crosshairs of what's next...

And some members of the Executive Committee voted against the proposal because they felt they didn't have enough time to digest the information about the 2 16-team tourneys that will make up the single-A title games...

And don't be surprised if the state legislature gets involved, either...
They are, after all, in session... it'll give them something to do...
