Fayetteville State's John Herrington had never attempted a three point shot during his college career but he had no choice Monday night.
Trailing Elizabeth City State by two points and having to go the length of the court with two seconds left, Herrington, a 6-8 230 pound senior forward/center, received the inbound pass in the back court and had to launch.

And with that incredible shot Fayetteville State defeated Elizabeth City State 79-78.
"I never shoot 3s - not even in practice," Herrington said after the game. "I just wanted to get a shot attempt. It felt good when it left my hands."
But the ball rattled sround the rim and backboard before falling.
"It was just one of those great moments,"Fayetteville State head coach Alphonza Kee said after the game. "It was like a storybook ending. But I swear, the ball stayed up there at least 35 minutes."
By the way Herrington finished the game with 14 points and seven rebounds. He also leads the CIAA in field goal percentage shooting 64.7 percent. From 5 feet to 55 feet Herrington rarely misses.
