NPSL Midwest Week 3 Review/Preview

Central Conference

Five of the six teams here are within four points of each other...

Minnesota United Reserves lost to FC Bordo 4-1 in the back end of a home and home. The win for Bordo gets them to third- two points back. Madison 56'ers are in between with 5 points after putting 6 goals in the net against Eau Claire Aris. Quad City Eagles are 4th with Minnesota Twin Stars in behind. Eau Claire are still looking for their first win of the season.

This week, Eau Claire travel to Madison and host Quad City. Minnesota Twin Stars have two home matches with Quad City and Minnesota United Reserves. The 56'ers have two matches themselves- home to Eau Claire and away to FC Bordo.

Great Lakes East Conference

AFC Cleveland is making early in roads to stay up top with 8 points in their first 5 matches. They split last weekend with a loss to Westfield Select and a win over Fort Pitt. For Pitt also lost a cross over match with Lansing United, 1-0

This week, Lansing hosts AFC Cleveland before a road game with Cincinnati Saints. FCB has two huge home games with Detroit City FC in a crossover before a home game with AFC Cleveland. Erie is on the road at Detroit City and Fort Pitt.

Great Lakes West Conference

A lot of points being taken by the top three here- Westfield Select/Indiana Fire, Detroit City FC, and Lansing United. Westfield had their six point weekend at home with FCB before the AFC Cleveland win. You already know Lansing United's story...

Detroit City FC won against Cincinnati and tied Westfield Select on the road. The match against the Saints wasn't decided until stoppage time when Michael Lamb did this- and the Cincinnati fans thought this could have been a hand ball call...
((HT: Michael Kitchen))

Michigan Stars and Cincinnati are tied with three points each. The Stars have two home games this week against AFC Cleveland and Westfield Select.
