It appears the adventures of Houston Nutt in Oxford, Mississippi are coming to an end.
Ole Miss Chancellor Dan Jones will announce today that head football coach Houston Nutt will be relieved of his duties at the end of this season. He will also announce that athletic director Pete Boone will be departing as well.
The story from the Jackson Clarion-Ledger RIGHT HERE
Much was made about Nutt's arrival at Ole Miss after his tumultuous stint at Arkansas. He won 9 games in 2008 and 2009, but the Rebels haven't done much of anything since. They are 2-7 this season including a wonderful 0-6 in the conference.
You could attribute Nutt's early success to inheriting some good recruiting classes from his predecessor Ed Orgeron. There was a lot of concern that Nutt couldn't add to that success.
Ole Miss has struggled to be anything more than a "Middle of the Pack" team in the SEC. They thought Nutt, buoyed by his success at Arkansas would be the guy to get them there.
Apparently, that won't happen.
