Penn St. knew more than they claimed ((UPDATED: And Athletes Discuss))

((ht: Beaver County Times))
Jerry Sandusky
((ht: Big Lead))

Oh, this isn't good. And it is further proof Penn State knew a whole lot more than they claim they did.

Radio Host Mark Madden wrote an Op-Ed piece for the Beaver County Times back in April of this year. In it, Madden drew a few conclusions, which if true are really, really bad.

He talked, at length about the 1st allegations against Jerry Sandusky in 1998. He also mentions the Grand Jury investigation which was just released this past weekend (Nov. 5th).

You should really read this story RIGHT HERE

Either Madden was making things up....or the Penn State coverup exists. And we lean towards the latter. It would be one thing if the story was written today, given all that we now know.

It wasn't.

Nobody ever drew the parallel. Nobody ever thought something was odd about Sandusky's sudden resignation in 1999 at age 55. Nobody ever wondered why he never coached again.

And it still continued.

There can be no claims of "We didn't know" or "We couldn't prove anything". Heck, they knew about the investigation beginning in 2009. And yet nobody thought about restricting Sandusky's access to anything. Nobody ever thought to question him.

Every single administrator from President Spanier on down to the long-time coaches should be fired immediately. Yeah, we understand there will be some students on campus saying they did nothing wrong. And even if they didn't break the law, they did something wrong. There is no justification for not saying anything. There is no justification for not following through. There is NO justification for not even making an effort to connect the dots.

This sure sounds a lot like a coverup. It sure sounds like Penn State tried to let Sandusky go away quietly. It sure sounds a lot like they figured everything was OK...as long as nobody got caught.

PM UPDATE: A debate on the Paterno situation erupted north of the border between CFL QB Henry Burris and former NHL star Theoren Fleury...

Burris later claimed he was playing devil's advocate in his debate...

"If Paterno had seen it happen with his own eyes he should report it but he didn't! He received info from someone who say(s) he did! What to do?" Burris tweeted.

Fleury says he was sexually abused by his junior hockey coach Graham James, who has been charged with sex offences in Manitoba. Theo has also become an advocate for those affected in sexual abuse cases in recent years after his story went public.

Fleury responded to Burris: "ok so they talked covered it up and allowed (Jerry) Sandusky to keep molesting boys. Come on Hank. (You're) better than that."

"For me to get people here today and talking about it, that was my main point because I want people to know that's not acceptable," was part of Burris' response to the verbal jousting...

And then the discussion afterwards...

"Recently I've been going back and forth with Henry Burris on this disgusting Penn State debacle," Fleury wrote on his website. "I have one stand. If an adult has even the slightest suspicion that a child is being abused, it is your duty as an adult to stand up for that child and do something now."
