Gregg Williams Is In A World Of Hurt...

((HT: SeanPamphilon))

Michael Silver over at Yahoo!Sports has hit the motherlode in grabbing knowledge of an audio tape
that came from documentary filmmaker Sean Pamphilon while Pamphilon was working on a piece centered around Saints DB Steve Gleason who is fighting ALS at present.

At the pre-game speech before the 49ers playoff game, then Saints-DC Gregg Williams had very specific instructions involving what his players were to do to certain 49ers players like Michael Crabtree, Vernon Davis, Kendall Hunter and others.

Here's an edited version of the full conversation that Pamphilon has released...

Pamphilon released a statement, but has kept a fairly low profile after all this broke... in part:

"If this story hadn’t broken and been made public, I would not have shared this it. I would not have compromised my personal relationships and risked damaging Steve Gleason’s relationship with the Saints. I would have crafted these words and sentiments for another forum, perhaps years down the road.

"If it weren’t for the fact I feel deeply that parents of children playing football MUST pay attention to the influence of men who will sacrifice their kids for W’s, I would not have written this."

According to Michael David Smith over at PFT, Williams thought the Pamphilon crew was doing something meant for in-house only where Gleason was concerned...

Oops...

Prevailing opinion: Williams isn't the first coach to say things like this to get a team fired up. He's just the first to get caught...

The depth of his comments are the shocking part- singling out body parts and athletes in depth...

The HQ is of the opinion that Williams is the shining example of a "show cause" penalty for football coaches if ever there was one...
