Texas Longhorns long-time former coach and administrator Darrell Royal had been fighting the disease for some time and passed in an assisted living facility where he had been receiving care and treatment.
From his 23 years as head coach to front office director to sports personality, Royal will always be known for his down-home demeanor and presentation.
On the field, he brought the powerful wishbone offense to Austin and made the Longhorns a long-term success with 11 SWC titles, 10 Cotton Bowl titles, and 2 national titles...
